The hid headlight beam of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala lt is very poor. The beam of light in the low setting provides no illumination to the sides of the road, forward illumination is marginal. I contend that when the 2015 Impala lights are on the high or "bright" setting it is comprabale to the low beam setting in my 2012 Impala. In moderate to heavy weather, rain, sleet, snow the headlights offer no assistance, driver is navigating blind, can not even see the lines on the road. I live and drive primarily in a rural area, along with the weather conditions there are many wildlife hazards. I have experienced several close encounters with wildlife and two impacts, one with a deer causing substantial damage to my car. I simply can not see anything until it is directly in front of the car. It is in my judgement these headlights are unsafe not only for the occupants of the vehicle, but others sharing the roads with the vehicle.

On two separate occasions I've been driving on the highway at highway speeds and when I go from bright to dim my headlights shut off. These two issues both occurred as I was meeting another vehicle and went from bright to dim. They occurred over the time period of two months.

Poor headlighting. Foggy lense due to defective lense material fogging from the heat on the inside of the lense, poor light color, too small head lights. Very hard to see properly, especially if there is a slight mist or rain. There is not enough lighting, the color makes every thing shiny. Hard to see the lines in the road and road edges. Poorest car lighting I have ever owned. The dealer says there is nothing they can do to improve the head lights.
I went out the night of August 28th to celebrate the arrival of my first child. As my friend and I were returning home around 1 am on the 29th of August, I was stopped for driving with no headlights on. I asked the officer how can that be considering I have automatic headlights. He didn't even understand there were autonomous equipment in vehicles today. The police officer applied for a warrant for my blood and drew it without my consent. When I got to the jail, I told them I didn't want to talk to anyone other than my attorney or judge. They took this as sign of having suicidal thoughts. They had two guards ask me for my clothes in exchange for a beach blanket which would only cover the bottom, upper, front, or back side of my body. All this because I had a defective safety device. The officer stated he noticed the car's headlight were off after I was hit with high beams. The sensor turns the lights off when it's hit by a photon and slips into a delay scenario. And doesn't turn them on until the sensors believe it's dark enough. Whatever that is. The state's (texas) law required the light to be on while driving between a certain time frame. I've reported this issue to the manufacturer on two occasions. I'm asking that you include state regulations so that this kind of thing doesn't happen to anyone else. This experience has really shaking my trust with federal government agencies. In following the federal regulations trying to address safety, it seems a law was broken. Am I protected by any federal preemption provisions? I have a hard time understanding why my blood had to be taken when it was the software making the decisions. Are there any safeguards? I am concerned with who else this will effect.
The hi beam headlights failed, which made the lo beam headlights go out when the hi beam was engaged. Repair service found a corroded "pin" in a multi-pin electrical connection. This is a "protected" connection, in the engine compartment, it has been corroded for a very long time according to the electric serviceman. He informed me the other "pins" will fail also effecting the wipers and other "necessary" safety components, because of the condition of this connector.

I have a serious problem with the 2014 -15 chevy Impala lighting, the headlights at night do not shine or fan out to see when turning right or left on a darkened road the lights seem to be adjusted to a pin point setting straight ahead. I was tuning left from a road to a unlit road that was totally black when looking out the left side window to turn when I turned I was headed for the woods luckily I wasn't going fast so I could back up to turn to the road there should be a recall to fix this problem before there are some accident's because of these headlights there could be a person crossing a street that you won' see on a dark street turn. Very dangerous situation. I have seen the same complaint odi # 10651739 & others please fix the problem before its to late thank you.
The low beam headlight on the passenger side keeps going out. I have replaced the bulbs many times, but there is nothing wrong with the bulbs. I don't know if there is a problem with the connector the bulb goes into or if there is an electrical short problem. I believe gm knows about the problem, but won't do a recall. I have seen the same complaint as mine all over the web. Since this problem has not caused any fatalities that I'm aware of, there is no real pressure coming from enough consumers to warrant a recall. I am hoping that if your organization adds its considerable weight to requesting that gm does a recall on this problem, it might help.

Extremely disappointed and shocked while driving at night for the first time on a country road in this vehicle. The projector beam halogens utterly fail to illuminate the roadway in a manner any competent driver would consider to be adequate or most importantly safe! dealer of course says this is "factory" and considered normal. I have concluded that this headlight design is adequate for most urban (semi lighted) highway but necessarily dangerous for rural drivers. I will be on the lookout for a newly designed headlamp offering from gm. My fix is to intentionally aim the (low beams) extremely low and just use the (high beams) full time which at least allows all the available light to be utilized with no ill affect to oncoming drivers since the beam is so dim! OH, also it seems there are no provisions (adjustability) that I can see for side to side aiming?.

Driving down the road with my high beams on, my headlights went out completely. My low beams work ok but if I use high beams they randomly go out. This is the second gm vehicle I have had with this problem. The mechanic at the gm dealership said 4 of his 6 family members have had same problem. A former CO-worker had same problem. I contacted gm and was told my car was to old for them to fix it. . .
Right low beam headlight sometimes doesn't light up. Took the vehicle for a bulb replacement and mechanics couldn't figure out why a working bulb failed. Seems to be connected to the airbag, ignition, information panel glitch.

The problem that I have with my 2014 Impala is that the headlights do not illuminate the road very well. The light beam is narrow projecting straight out in front of the car. Very little illumination to the sides of the road. This complaint may sound trivial but let me assure you that I'm not chevy bashing. This Impala is a beautiful car, I love it except for the headlights. This is a real problem for me. If I had taken a test drive at night I would not have purchased this car. Hard to test drive at night in July. I expected much better lighting on a car like this. A halogen bulb in a well designed and poisoned fixture works great.

While driving at night, the headlights have begun to go off automatically. So far, we can click the lights from high beam to low beam or vice-versa and they come back on. This started the latter part of last year, but last week they actually started flickering right before they went off. I searched the web and found this is a common complaint with many consumers. I live in rural America and fear the lights going out where there are no street lights or any other type of lighting. There are many curves and hills and fear what could happen especially if my teenager is driving and panics. We have searched for the "fix" but no one seems to know for sure and gm has made no attempt to recall this problem. My complaint is why nothing has been done to fix this problem. It is very dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately. I have read so many suggestions on what it may be but no one has the exact remedy for it.
I was on my way home from work when my driverside head light went out so I stopped and bought a new bulb at the closest store when I replaced the bulb the light still didnt come back on then the dtr light also started having issues the only time you get any lights on the driver side is when you move the entire headlight assembly around then you get dim lighting so for the past couple months we havent been able to use our car at night. I keep checking for recalls but I havent seen any and we have always had problems with our dtr lighting including the ones that control our dash lights. Cause we have none they work during th eday when they want too but at night we have no lights in our dash. Also the drivers side heated seat has quit working. It all occured roughly around the same time. Nobodys been able to fix the issues.

I have 2007 chevy Impala. . . . I have trouble with my electrical. . . Examples: radio lighting dim or normal, alarm for ignitionkey left in place dings muffled or normal . . Headlights work or one side or another goes out periodically, visibility. . . Huge windshield post; excessive tire wear at low milege. . . Suspension problems with "weird tire wear on insides of rear tires; manufact. Defect number TSB#08032. And other customer compliants there are ignition problems, fuel tank adhesive problem and a steering knuckle problem; this means ignition can turn off while driving, excessive rear tire wear resulting in tire blow outs(hard to see because it is inside of rear tires and uneven wear, also let us not forget that the fuel can escape from gas tank and cause a fire and windshield posts terrible for visibility etc. . . . Gm is well aware of these problems and has recalled police Impalas and not civilian owned Impalas,,,,could someone please tell me why gm is allowed to make such a vehicle. . . Millions of people have them and are in danger, this was to be my last car. . I am a senior, disabled and wanted to be a loyal made in the USA customer. . . I cannot afford all these repairs and it seems gm is not doing the majority ie out of my pocket. I cannot afford another car and do I pass this on to another person to be unsafe. Also I haqve 63,000 miles on my car and all four doors on the inside need repair due to rust. Kept in garqage. Also noticed another Impala has rust spot same place I do on trunk near Impala need cambur kit and wheel alignment. . . Purchased new set of tires.
Modern vehicle design has increased occupant safety in event of an accident. The other side of this coin is a decreased ability to avoid accidents. Blind spots caused by huge windshield posts and rear view mirrors (inside and out), headrests poking up and a seat belts that hold you in position to look straight ahead. . . . All these contributed to our car hitting a guy-wire for a power pole. I took the car back to the "scene" and the guy-wire and windshield post are exactly the same angle, the guy-wire not being in the driver's field of vision. The car is being repaired right now (to the tune of $1250. 00, just for a headlight and tupperware bumper cover). It could have been avoided if we'd had the services of a nascar spotter up on the roof of the vfw! there. . . . . I vented.

2006 Chevrolet Impala. Consumer writes in regards to transmission problems. The consumer stated the transmission was slipping. She explained to the dealer, there was a recurring problem with the transmission. Each time, the consumer went to the dealer, she was informed they could not recreate the problem, and therefore no problem existed. Besides the transmission problem, there was a horrible ratcheting machine-gun type noise coming from behind the dash, when she changed the vent position. The loud noise lasted for about a minute and was almost ear-piercing. Also, the engine mount broke, the water pump, steering and tie rods failed, the engine burned excessive amount of oil, and the engine low oil light illuminated. The windows made a screeching sound, the sunroof would drag, the plastic headlight covered were fogged and faded. The tire pressure monitoring light was constantly on. On April 24, 2013. The consumer took the vehicle to an independent transmission shop to have them assess the same transmission slipping problem, she had been experiencing for seven years. They dropped the transmission pan, and they found fine metal, pieces of aluminum and clutch material in the pan.
I was turning left into a driveway going no more than 7 miles an hour, because I was following a car, when I heard a large grind then pop. I parked my car and knew immediately the transmission failed by the fluid trail and part left behind. I took it to a dealer and luckily it was covered under the power train warranty. A week after receiving my vehicle back the alignment was off, driver-side headlight socket caught fire, I have labored start up, have stalled on the freeway! and have stabilitrak, airbag, and reduced engine power error codes that randomly appear.
