As I was driving in a curved lane all of a sudden a warning light and popped on the dash about a power steering issue and I lost all power steering and was heading out of control. I could not control the car at all in the curve. Then I finally was able to slow the vehicle down and pull off the road. Who should I talk to about this major issue?.

4 times while driving slow I have lost power steering, it does come back fairly quickly. I see a recall for a 2014 Impala that covers my issues exactly, but was told my Impala is not part of the recall?.

Every warning light on the dashboard became illuminated. Lost power steering, car became sluggish, lacked speed, and power. Braking control was limited. Vehicle was drive able only in limp mode.
I have filed a complaint last month about my 2014 chevy Impala's side detection system, back up camera warnings, and forward collision systems all not working. Today I am adding that while driving on the freeway in moderate rain doing 55mph, my stabilitrak light came on, abs light came on and I lost power steering. I did not lose control of my car, but it could have been bad. I called chevy as soon as I got home to file a complaint. I will be bringing it to the dealership tomorrow as I have read other complaints of this happening as well with the next thing to go is the car won't start. This situation is uncalled for in a vehicle with 45,000 miles at a price tag of $35,000, especially when the other issues started happening around d 38,000 miles. Before today, when I started my car the service lights for front camera, park assist, and side detection all lit up. I did not take it to the dealership at that point because I heard it was expensive to fix now I have to as the safety of driving it is severely unstable.
We lost power steering. There are at least 2 bulletins on the steering control module. Total pscm failure. Dealer claims entire steering system needs to be replaced. Car has 68 k miles. Who would ever expect to lose this critical system on a well cared for car. This is a dangerous condition.
Electrical failures. I experienced a failure in my stabilitrak, power steering and abs system on my 2014 chevy Impala 2lt. This caused my vehicle to lose power steering, and abs brake control, which while driving on a rainy surface (in MA today 3/2 the weather was insane) was not reassuring. I have read numerous reports of other people experiencing this issue as well. Chevy seems to have are recall open for power steering, but my VIN supposedly is not impacted despite me having a power steering failure. Many, many electrical issues with this car have been reported, and yet chevy does nothing to correct this clear safety concern. Thankfully the power steering system only partially reduced itself, and didn't completely fail or else who knows what would have happened. Very dangerous and disappointing that nothing is being done to protect people.
When I back out of a parking stall or driveway and still have my foot on the brake and then I put it in drive, when I try to turn the wheel to start to drive down the street, it is like I lost power steering and it takes everything in my power with my hands to turn the steering wheel. It feels like the steering wheel locked up. Also when I am starting to pull into a parking stall when the car is barely moving the steering wheel seems to lock up with no power steering and I have difficulty turning the wheel. There are times when I can't get the wheel turned and I'm unable to park in the stall. While driving at normal speeds and when I go to turn, it doesn't matter whether it is turning left or right, the power steering is very stiff and sometimes will stiffen up to the point that I have a hard time turning the wheel. I took into the dealer in 12/2016 and asked them to check it out while they did an oil change to my car and they said all fluids were fine and nothing is wrong. I have come very close to having a wreck when I try to turn and the steering wheel all of a sudden stiffens up so tight that it takes all my strength and power to turn the wheel. It acts like the wheel isn't going to turn. This has been going on for a few months now. There is something definitely wrong with the steering. My 2012 Impala only has 17,000 miles on it. I bought the car brand new and I'm afraid to drive it because of this steering issue and not being able to turn the steering wheel. There should be a recall with the 2012 Impalas because of this issue. There is definitely a power steering or other issue that is causing the wheel to stiffin up so tight that you can barely turn it.

My 2014 chevy Impala has a power steering assist problem. On one occasion while driving, the vehicle lost power steering assist and it was hard to control. When I finally managed to drive in a gas station, parked for a while, the problem went away. After less than a month, the same problem occur when I had gone to my daughter's daycare to pick her up. I parked the vehicle in the parking lot, went in the class to pick up my daughter and when I returned to the vehicle my power steering assist was gone. It has been almost a year since I parked the vehicle waiting for a recall but it has not happened. The cost of repair is so expensive for a car with only about 40,000 miles on it. I surely deserve a recall for this problem ASAP.
2/17/2015 was the second event. I was driving approx- 65 mph up a mountain when my electonic display panel showed stabilitrack/service traction control/vechile in reduced power. As the power suddenly reduced I lost power steering control and brake function. Since I was traveling at a up hill grade, I was barely able to jerk the steering wheel enough to roll across the lane of traffic beside me to the side of the road. I wasn't able to get out of the road completely and was almost hit by a logging truck. After removing the keys from the ignition for a few minutes, I restarted the car without any hesitation. The engine light still remains on at this time. I did contact onstar and have them run a diagnostic test which revealed a problem with supposed fuel system. I have not taken it to a dealership yet. After so many complaints on various sites that I have reviewed, looks like gm would do a recall and investigate the problem before someone loses their life.

After going through a small puddle, serp belt slips, lose power steering, cant hardly control car. If it happened with my wife driving in traffic could be very bad. Went to beard Chevrolet a month ago (this has been happening several mos) and was told it's normal, and in new cars they went to electric ps because of it. That doesnt console me with an otherwise perfectly running car. I had replaced the tensioner and serp belt already before going to the dealer.

Coming off of a freeway, the exit is a wide curve. About half way through the turn (going toward the right) the engine turned off. Lost all power steering and brakes. Fortunately, I am strong enough to be able to muscle the car through the rest of the curve and pull over to safety. The muscling caused minor injury to left shoulder. Car did restart without a problem.
Pulling out of drive turning left lost power steering could not straighten steering wheel and hit curb.
Driving through a water puddle I lost my power steering ,happens everytime I hit water, it has also locked up on me a couple times. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was making a right hand turn on a surface road when vehicle suddenly lost power steering assist. Dealer service department diagnosed as no pressure from power steering pump. It was determined that shaft had broken on the pump. Installed power steering pump kit (06605-c) and new shaft. Replaced power steering fluid.

It was raining and lost power steering at speed. This has continued each time it has rained or going through a car wash. Very dangerous because the car will not turn. This type of incident has occurred more than 50 times and the dealership only laughed at me when I called. Is chevy waiting till my family is killed before noticing this issue like with the other recent recalls.
I was driving my company assigned car down a steep hill when the engine stalled without warning. This has happened 5 other times with this vehicle. This was the first time I was travelling fast though. It's like the engine just turns off. The lights are still on but I lose the power steering and brakes. It was terrifying and extremely dangerous. This problem happens completely randomly with no warning. It has happened to others in my company with their Impalas. I looked online and found numerous other instances of chevy Impalas of various model years doing the same thing. It is currently in the repair shop and the mechanic can't duplicate the problem. I told them its random and occurs about every 4 months or so. I am afraid I will have to get back in this death trap due to my employer making me. Please help- I don't want to die because Chevrolet has a problem with their electrical systems in their cars.
While driving on thruway my 2011 chevy Impala lost power steering went due to a belt broke within the eninge compartment. Nearly lost control of car. After getting off the thruway,we noticed that a pully had come apart. Which caused the belt to disintegrate.
I was driving my 2008 Chevrolet Impala and was backing out of a parking space, so my tires were turned at an angle. When backing up, I lost all power steering making it very hard to turn the wheel. Once I backed out and put the car in drive the steering began to work again. I checked power steering fluid but it was not low. This problem happens fairly regularly.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. He discovered recall # 09e005000 (steering) for his year, make, and mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and inspected for one full day. After the day of service he was advised that the recall did not apply to his vehicle. One week after the inspection. While driving he lost power steering without warning and crashed into a snow embankment. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000. The VIN was unknown.
