Chevrolet Impala owners have reported 3 problems related to speed control cable (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Engine power was reduced while I was traveling with the flow of traffic. I attempted to accelerate but car started slowing down. Took the vehicle for repair and replaced the pedal position sensor was replaced. I contacted chevy dealership service dept and was told it's a common occurrence. Impalas have a throttle sensor instead of cable. If the sensor goes out, the engine power is reduced to protect the engine integrity. In some cases, it's reduced significantly. The manufacture noted my concern but the rep would not escalate the matter. I went online to file a complaint and there is a chevy forum with similar concerns. General motor reps reply with common responses to take the vehicle to an authorized mechanic and their concern has been noted. I was informed by representative at 800# for manufacture to call back if it happens again. Thankfully I wasn't going at a higher speed in dallas traffic. Not sure if I would have had the luxury of pulling over.

At the time of the first incident traction control light came on the low engine power light came on . Speed dropped down to 15 mph. Had to pull over turn car off . Then restarted it again it was fine for a month . It repeated same problem. Now check engine light stays on . Hdhad code read saying throttle cable and traction control. To me that is a serious issue. This is something that needs to be addressed. Highway driving this problem could cause an accident . I can see this has been a issue with general motors with Impalas and other models since 2008. How many of the same complaints would it take until its fixed . Complaints keep coming up after throttle bodies replaced still having same problems. General motors needs to get with the program.

When braking my car assumes I'm sliding (like on ice) and I'm not--car uses abs unnecessarily. When driving off my car assumes my wheels are spinning and unable to grip--they aren't and car uses traction control unnecessarily. Similar to a breaking throttle cable, when trying to make a left turn on a busy street, traction control being activated could be very hazardous.
