4 Wiper problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/27/2022

Upon opening the sunroof while driving, the sunshade track bunched up and got stuck while opening. I was able to unbunch the track the get the sunshade to close, however, the fabric ripped away from the track on both sides. When the sunroof is opened, the fabric falls down into the car and completely blocks the view out of the back window. I tired putting the fabric up in the space it should roll into, but it will not stay and falls down while driving. I stopped using the sunroof for this reason. Now the fabric hangs down into the car. This happened almost a year ago. The fabric has continued to hang down further and further into the car. It is beginning to fall into the line of vision of the rear window. I used safety pins to hold it up, but it continues to hang down further. I have decided to get it fixed for this reason. It will cost almost $800 to have it repaired. This is clearly a safety hazard. I have read several forums on other owners with the same safety issue. A service repair bulletin has been issued for this problem, but it should be a safety recall.

6 Wiper problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/20/2021

I purchased this vehicle 2 weeks ago never been happier. My complaint is about my headlights they have serious condensation in both and there is about an inch or 2 of water inside the headlights. This issue is causing bad visibility with low lighting. I have tried everything to keep the water out and provide headlights with proper air so this doesn't happen. How come Chevrolet didn't recall these headlights due to poor design and improper ventilation. What can I do besides spend $200. 00 on 2 new ones?.

7 Wiper problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/02/2021

While driving down the highway a loud explosion made my passenger's and me get startled followed by a ringing in our ears. It crossed my mind that the vehicle was getting shot at. Upon inspection there was no interior damage, however while inspecting the outside of the vehicle there was damage on the sunroof of the vehicle. The sunroof had shattered in an upwards position as if it has exploded or damage came from the inside out. Closer examination did not provide a reason or foreign object that could had created the damage. It was very dangerous to have this happen while driving and/or with the possibility of eyes to fall on any of the passengers of the vehicle.

8 Wiper problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/29/2021

I noticed my rear defrost has quite working. I figured it was a fuse so I wasn't to worried about it. We've had a lot of snow recently and figured I better check my fuses. The relay is working that is located under the hood. We traced to wiring through the fire wall and down to where it comes into the vehicle (down by your feet). There is a wiring there and once we disconnected it we noticed it is burnt very bad. Where the two pieces connect together is melted and is black. This could have been extremely bad if it would have caught fire.

9 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/22/2020

Today was cold and snowing and I started up my car and the heaters and defrosts. I was in my car parked completely stationary when the rear window made a loud sound I looked back and it appeared broken. I stepped out of the vehicle and shut my door and the glass fell. Nothing hit it! I looked up and around nothing in sight, it basically exploded from the defrost button and the cold! I put a tarp on the what was a rear window, because of the snow and my leather interior as well as my touchscreen media center!.

10 Wiper problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

While operating vehicle on public roadway while utilizing the ac function, the ac evaporator catastrophically failed under the dash, startling the driver & passenger, and exposing them to high levels of 1234yf refrigerant in the enclosed cabin. The ac system subsequently went into low pressure mode, rendering all ac functions useless such as defrosting the windshield which has created safety issues in addition to the inhalation of the leaked refrigerant. This style of failure is covered under special coverage adjustment - n182186881 evaporator core icing, leak for certain 2016-2018 Impala vehicles. Gm customer service states that this VIN is not covered under this special coverage, even though this is a similar failure on a part that should last the life of the vehicle. Gm refuses to cover this failure and requested that the customer contact the NHTSA to help resolve the missing VIN from the special coverage. Customer is currently saddled with a $2300 repair bill for a lifetime part that has failed in 2. 4 years and poses an ongoing safety issue.

11 Wiper problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/04/2020

I have a 2013 Chevrolet Impala--I have had multiple problems with; my dashboard lights up with service stablitrack, brake assist, traction control, and the abs light comes on while driving down the road. I have taken it to numerous places, that tested it, and was told no problem was found. It makes a grinding noise when in reverse; sometimes it doesn't want to accelerate, especially when it rains. Also my passenger seat's, buckle up alarm, goes off when no one is sitting there and the front window always seems dirty, even after it's cleaned-inside and out.

12 Wiper problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

The rear defogger on my vehicle stopped working. Investigation lead to a video on the internet showing a melted connector on the passenger side fuse box. Following the steps in the video I found the exact same burned up connector under the carpet of my vehicle. Photos included. The connector was clearly not designed to handle the current the fuse was allowing to flow through. This is a fire risk as well as an inconvenience as now my rear defogger is inoperative. I never smelled the burning part but lost clearing ability about three weeks ago when driving in cold weather.

13 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/13/2019

While opening the sunroof the sunshade dislodged from slider causing the copper metal retractable piece to snap loudly and hit me in the head aside from scaring me near death as I was driving down the highway. The sunshade now sags blocking the visibility of the rearview mirror as well the sunroof will not work as the sunshade can't open.

14 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/27/2019

Service blind detection system. This warning came on after 1 day of purchasing my 2014 Impala so I took car back and the dealer took it to chevy to fix the recall but I was told that they're to many miles on my vehicle. This issue needs to be fixed because I'm within my 15days if used vehicle warranty and if this issue continues this could cause other issues as I have read due to reviews on this issue. Because now it becomes a bigger issue and could cause lawsuits due to being not covered and with being out of the mileage coverage period could really destroy a company because it's just not safe. I would like more information and how this could be fixed because this is a new purchase and I haven't even had the vehicle 5 days and if this vehicle starts a electrical fire/ problem it becomes a bigger issue can you please fix my issue and make exceptions to this recall mess.

15 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/02/2019

Side traffic detection system is inoperative. Car has been at the dealership for 15 days as of this writing . We are being told the control modules to repair the defect is not available. We are elderly and cannot be without the use of a car.

16 Wiper problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/20/2019

My car has had the power steering rack replaced 3 times within a 6 months time frame. My transmission was replaced and it seems to be slipping again I have had it replaced under a year ago. I was driving when I noticed my car slipping from 11st fear into second. The defrost does not work properly and all windows are frozen making it unsafe to drive your vehicle.

17 Wiper problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

Blend door actuators fail to operate correctly while driving vehicle on the highway changing cabin temperature drastically losing visibility of fogged up windshield and crash occurs.

18 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/28/2018

After starting car by remote, I attempted to drive, getting about 10 feet when I heard a loud explosion inside my car along with a bright flash. Stopping my car I looked around inside and out and saw nothing unusual. Getting out of vehicle, I examined my rear window and found it to be completely shattered. This occurred while attempting to pull out of my parking lot in my condominium complex. My theory is that it was a faulty rear window defogger.

19 Wiper problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/23/2018

Nov 2018: center console / tv failure including back-up camera along with infotainment. Occurred just after 36,000 miles, thus gm warranty did not cover and repair cost for hmi module = $732 though we do have a 3rd party ext. Warranty, we still paid $200+ out of pocket and feel it irresponsible for gm electronics to fail just 1 year after model year (as electronics normally should not relate to # miles) - should be a factory recall. Repeated attempts to contact Chevrolet senior support by phone to discuss situation went unanswered. During the time the console was out (but car still drive-able), we had reduced rear visibility and were more fearful about backing up, especially in areas with many children present.

20 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Wiper transmission broke while driving.

21 Wiper problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

The design of the headlights is faulty. The reflectors behind the bulbs do not project sufficient illumination of the road ahead, nor does it illuminate the left and right corners. I estimate that the very dim lights are good for 30-ft ahead at most, and they are so dim that they are almost useless when driving in am and pm hours. Switching to high-beams barely makes a difference. In fact, I always drive with the high beams on when driving in the dark, and have never had an oncoming vehicle flash its lights at me in attempt to get me to swiych to the low-beams. Further, turning corners in the dark is dangerous, as there is virtually no illumination of the corners by the headlights. All of this is exacerbated significantly when the pavement is wet and when it's raining. I suggest that you take a test drive in one of these vehicles, in " country" environments that are not lit by street lights. Do it again on similar roads when it's raining. Search google "impala poor headlight design" and you will find that this hazard is discussed in several forums and reviews for 2015 through 2018 Impalas. It boggles the mind to know that general motors has allowed this safety issue to be perpetuated through 4 Impala model years.

22 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/30/2018

Napa hybrid wiper blade lock does not stay closed and allows wiper blade to slip in the wiper arm hook. It could come off. Napa associate knew of this problem and offered to replace the blade if I would by a more expensive blade. I am still using the blade and trying to figure out how to make a homemade fix before winter. These blades should not be sold because the blade retainer lock is poorly engineered.

23 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. While the vehicle was stationary, the rear windshield exploded without warning. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

24 Wiper problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 12/10/2017

The driver side sun visor does not stay up and it falls into your view when driving. This is a common issues with these cars. This should be a safety recall as it could fall into view of the windshield unexpectedly and cause a car crash.

25 Wiper problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

When turned car on wipers did not work, they would intermittently come on and work before they completely stopped working and do not turn on at all. Changed the wiper motor and the wiper switch and they still do not work. I currently do not have working wipers on my car. Pep boys was unable to diagnose a problem.

26 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/12/2017

Rear view mirror detached from window. It was stationary.

27 Wiper problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/11/2017

Poor front low beam headlights light up the road only showing the bottom 40% of the windshield and poor lighting to the side of the road. The top 60% of the windshield as you look forward is dark the headlights only show 3 possible 4 car lengths in front of the car. At 60 mph you should be able to see farther than over 6 car lengths ahead on low beams not 3 and not over 1/2 your visibility in the dark very unsafe.

28 Wiper problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/26/2016

29 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

The rearview mirror adhesive on my 2014 Chevrolet Impala has failed, resulting in a dangling rearview mirror which affects my safety in having visibility while operating the vehicle. General motors and/or Chevrolet was neglectful in ensuring this piece of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala was engineered correctly so that operators can have rearview mirror stability for the duration of ownership. Upon contacting general motors, their only suggestion was for the owner to bear the cost of purchasing an entirely new windshield and adhesive. This is a defect of this car and should not be left to the owner's responsibility. General motors needs to correct this issue for the safety of people who purchase this car!.

30 Wiper problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Takata recall I was dropping my daughter off at the babysitters house on my way to a funeral around 10:30 on Sunday October 1, 2016. I pulled out the babysitters driveway and proceeded towards berkshire street. My car was in motion and before I made it to the corner my passenger side airbag burst open my dashboard opened all the way across to driver's side. My radio broke off my buttons flew off the dash and I couldn't tell whether it was dust or smoke from the airbag. I wasn't hurt but when I inhale my chest hurt and my asthma flared up and my right ear is irritated. Also my windshield is cracked on the passenger side. I didn't hit a bump or car it's smooth pavement I was confused as to what caused it.

31 Wiper problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/30/2016

The rear window is small and I depend on the back up camera but it is dark and I cannot see a person behind the car -- the dealership says that's the way it's made and gm goes with their dealership -- they're wrong -- tried to get it fixed several times with no luck.

32 Wiper problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/09/2016

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving in a rain storm, the windshield wipers failed to function during use without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a faulty bearing in the windshield wiper transmission and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but the contact stated he was informed that there were no recalls and no additional assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

33 Wiper problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/06/2016

Sunshade failure. The sunshade runs back and forth on track to close or open cloth cover. While driving with 4 main windows I pushed button to open shade halfway down the line the shade got off track and you could hear plastic cracking noises. I stopped the shade and pushed it closed more cracking noises and the the whole cloth fell and hung blocking all rear view while on freeway at normal speed. I was able to pull over and slowly push and assist cloth back into car frame so it's not hanging but it no longer works as intended. This is known and per dealership ove 1k for new track and requires moonroof removal to repair. Not covered under warranty.

34 Wiper problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/08/2016

Wiper blades remain in an upward position while driving; this occurrence causes visibility issues during harsh weather conditions, which may result in an accident. This issue happens very frequently, and I have to step out of the vehicle to manually push the blades down with my hands.

35 Wiper problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/04/2016

I bought my car with 11k on it. It was a dealer used car that had never been registered for the road. I had a 2009 Cadillac, so this is what I compared this car too then. The passenger wiper blade has "scratched" the windshield where it stops to return back down. This has caused a permanent mark in the windshield, the length of the blade. This blocks your vision at the worst time; when it is raining or snowing. Next up are the safety feature control locations which were very poorly designed. There are 5? different ones. Two are on the left dash area, but obstructed by the steering wheel. Another one is on the steering wheel, next to other controls and I've turned it off by accident. There are others, not easily accessible, but you have to operate the driver info center by several clicks to access them. Not very consistent. The horn is more difficult to operate than any other car in my life! in the past, if you push the little horn icon, it blows. With this car, you must push at the bottom of the wheel; I found this out by testing it over and over. The horn will not work in an emergency situation by most people. Speaking of covered controls by the steering wheel, the start/stop button is obscured unless you turn the wheel or lean sideways. If you just pull into your driveway normal, you can't see it. The emergency 4-way flasher button is next to the start button, and is also obscured by the steering wheel. Electrical, minor but annoying issues include the hvac system and music storage. This the the worst system I have ever seen. In almost any climate (40's down to below zero), I have to turn the temp from 90, down to 66 to stay comfortable. To use auto-start, I have to remember to preset all the controls how I want them set for the next morning! the audio makes up its own song lists. These things should not be on a 2015 car! I could go on even more!.
