Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the electric power steering failed. The power steering warning indicator failed to illuminate and a clicking noise was heard when the steering wheel was turned in either direction. The contact had to constantly maneuver the steering wheel, which was extremely tight when turning it in either direction. The dealer (ross downing Chevrolet, 600 s morrison blvd, hammond, la 70403, 866-206-4720) indicated that the vehicle was serviced in 2014 per NHTSA campaign number: 14e044000 (steering). Since the vehicle was not included in any current recalls, the dealer did not offer to inspect and diagnose the vehicle. An independent repair facility replaced the power steering pump, but the clicking noise and steering wheel failures continued. The manufacturer issued one recall for this year, make, and model vehicle with 11 tsbs for the steering. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 143,497. Dyd.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 70 mph, the steering column failed. The contact heard a loud noise coming from the steering wheel and a service warning indicator illuminated. However, the contact was unable to identify the nature of the service indicator illumination. After the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it operated normally except the service indicator was still illuminated. The failure occurred several times. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 65,000.
My 2010 Malibu is now making a creaky/clunky noise when steering into a turn. It is most noticeable at slow speeds. I know the power steering motor has been an issue in prior model years. This vehicle is currently under the recall for the brake light / traction control / cruise control issues under recall # 13036. There has been no diagnosis done on the power steering as I will bring this to the dealer's attention when I bring the vehicle in for the known recall repairs. The car is now grounded until the repairs can be made as it is just too unsafe to drive at this point.
I was backing up from the store and I heard a traction noise doing from the steering wheel, it got worse stiffer and stiffer to steer , I have 2 children in the car with me scare to death to hit something!, my husband took it to the dealership they charged us 520 dollars with a discount they said. So upsetting because it is a 2010 Malibu only 49000 miles , doing some research I know there have been cars recall from gm from the same problem!!! are they waiting for someone to die to do something about it!! so upset!.
