1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 02/15/2021

My car was running in the drive when it died and would not restart. Everything went dead. I had to jump start it and after that the airbag light came on. The airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident with this light on. I took my car to a chevy dealer where I was charged $80. 00 to be told that the sdm airbag module needs replaced and estimated cost for this is $1100. 00. My car only has 108232 miles on it and to know that it could cost me either my families life or $1100. 00 everytime the battery dies is not a choice anyone should have to make. Airbags are supposed to be the most dependable part of a vehicle as it saves so many lives. How do I know if they are even working with the light off if it is this sensitive? I am afraid to drive the vehicle even if I get it fixed and since I just purchased the car recently I owe to much to try to buy anything else. How can part of the safety equipment fail so easily and not be on recall? what would have happened if it had died while I was driving down the road instead of in the driveway putting the car into gear? after leaving the dealership it now has a new code but I am afraid to drive it to find out what else is wrong.

2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

My daughter got a safety recall notice for her 2003 chevy Malibu. She took the car to maguire Chevrolet 2073 route 96 in trumansburg, NY 14886 (607)-387-6111 (this dealer was printed on the recall card) in August to have the recall repaired. Someone at that dealership told her that there is no such recall. I found it fishy at the time. We have received another recall notice exactly the same as the other one. So, I have researched it online. There is indeed a recall, and it can be serious. It clearly states that there could be a possibility of the air bags not deploying. What if something happens to my daughter or my grandson, in the meantime, because maguire Chevrolet were too lazy to make the repairs? I don't understand how this is acceptable behavior by a dealership? thank you for your attention to this matter.

12 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

I was driving northbound on I-435 when avoiding an accident. I pressed my brake as hard as I could. My vehicle did not stop so to avoid causing a serious accident I went off road in the center of the two highways. After hitting the guardrail to stop my vehicle from falling inbetween the overpass. My airbags did not deploy . I feel some concern after having my breaks checked and told they were good. Then if I'm at stop and I release the break for my car to start back up. I give it a second and then press the peddle it does not move which has almost caused me to hold up traffic or almost being hit when vehicles were at safe distances.

I was involved in a hit and run back in March 2017 the person backed into the pass-side of my car as I was driving 35 mph down the main road , the side impact airbag did not deploy from impact , the dealership said this is not a takata issue as they were replaced by the current recall and they don't know why they didn't deploy . The electrical issue is the onstar response system didn't detect the crash and call for help- I had to push the button to get help . The car can not get directions sent to it from onstar and the electrical keeps failing/loosing power and I was told to replace the batter and alternator but it still does it and the wires r fine . Dealership told me to replace the computer control system but seems their guessing and I don't have $1,200 around to do it . The side impact airbag should of deployed and the onstar sensor should of detected it and called for help.
