It have the air bag light on in the dash say service air bags and with the steering wheel when you drive it like it won't to lock up.
The is a message that comes across the radio screen to service airbag. It is referring to the front passenger airbag. When there is a passenger in the front seat the airbag on light does not come on the indicator located above the radio. It continues to state the airbag is off. According to my local dealership the part required to fix the problem is discontinued by gm and there are no aftermarket part for this. The dealership stated that it is a module. My vehicle does not have any current recalls to my knowledge. My concern is this is an important feature to have and there being no replacement part is troubling.

The air bag light and the engine light came on right after I left the dealership. At that moment I really didn't know a lot about cars and the sales person told me they fixed my issue and that I should be fine with the vehicle. I can get my engine light taken care of since it was my fault, but I see so many recalls out on the same type of vehicle for the airbag and there is none for mine. I really need assistance with the airbag and I believe it is a recall.

Service airbag light came on with no warning. I just started my car and the display said to service airbag. Car has never been in a wreck. After some research, I found multiple people having this issue. They all turned their vehicles in to a gm dealership and almost all had a faulty air bag control module. I hope that safety investigates deeply on this so no one will have a deadly wreck. The website is posted below. . Read more...
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the service air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to several unknown Chevrolet dealers in the texas and new mexico areas, but they were unable to officially diagnose the vehicle. The contact used a code reader and determined that the air bag control module was defective. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was informed that he would have to pay out of pocket to have the vehicle serviced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 85,000.
I bought my car used from a buy here pay here and maybe a month or so after buying my car I started noticing different little quirks here and there with my car, like if it's wet outside my brake lights either do not work or it looks like I am riding my breaks, if it's wet out my car hesitants while driving, my check air bags light is on, the traction control signal is on, my steering arm makes a very weird noise sometimes the list goes on and when I decided to check and see if my car had any recalls on it, to my discovery there is at least 4 one just from 2019 and all sounds so very much like what my car has been doing for months. I am hoping to receive some information back on what to do next.
Service airbags light came on while pulling out of my driveway. Never been involved in an accident. Alarm for airbags goes off every 30 seconds and it will not go off. The airbag alert light is on and the passenger airbag light flashes on and off with or without someone in the passenger seat.
I went to work Friday September 27, 2019. Where my car sat for two hours. When I came back out I had a service air bag light on. My car is a 2105, I'm the second owner. It's never been in an accident. I took it to the dealer I had bought it from a year ago. They told me it was a faulty air bag module that needed to be replaced. Luckily it didn't take an accident for faulting in severe injury, before I had known what was going on. I called gm hoping to get some answers. Only to be told there was nothing they could do to help me. From reading online I've seen a lot of people have this issue. I just pray something can be fixed before someone gets seriously injured. This is a serious safety issue. We don't pay thousands of dollars for a car, to have things go seriously wrong with them. I understand things get wore out and need replaced, but coming from a company who states safety is a priority, I don't feel an air bag module should be going out after only 4 years.
I have had 2 front end collision with wild hogs the second was real bad. The entire front end on the passenger side including the door had to be replaced. The airbag never exploded neither time. When I purchase the vehicle in 2012 or 13 the air bag light would come on but go of for awhile. I complained about it to the dealer but they would always say nothing is wrong with it.
Service air bag light is on. Keeps shutting off and coming back on.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the service air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 131,288.
Takata recall I have a 2013 chevy Malibu eco with roughly 89k miles. My service airbag light came on randomly as I was pulling into my driveway on July 27, 2019. I have not had an accident in my car, and I this is the first time I've ever seen this light. I remember a few years back, I received a notice in the mail from the dealership about a recall on airbags (something related to the deployment) and I went and got it serviced. Well it's 2-3 yrs later and my airbag light is on. I'm concerned if this is related to the takata recall as well. I can't understand why my service airbag light would pop on so randomly.
Air bags light keep coming on had a recall to have it replace before but light came back on.
Air bag light kept coming on.
My battery completely died and I needed a jump. The jump ended up not working so I purchased a new battery. Now the airbag light is on and will not go off. After researching this problem I see that this is a known issue and still no recall on this problem. I have a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu eco. The forums are saying it's a problem with the sdm component. Codes b101d-00(electronic control unit hardware) and u0184-00(lost communication with radio).
My car was taken in like 3 years ago for airbag recal and it as fix but all of a sudden the airbag light came on.
Drove my Malibu to see a show and parked in the garage. After the show, when turned on the ignition had a service airbag light. Took it to the gm dealer who diagnosed the problem and said had to replace the air bag sdm electrical module with a total price estimate of almost $1,000 cad !!! I have had this vehicle since December 2014 and have driven it to florida every winter since. It only has 82,500 km on it. I believe this is a premature failure and is a safety issue. Should be the same as the new car emissions warranty where emission components are covered much longer than new car warranty.
I was stopped, went to accelerate, and sudden hard shift as it accelerated. After a few miles, lost all gears after 2nd gear. On interstate at time when lost gears & close to getting into major accident. Took it to asc certified mechanic to learn that the transmission failed, wiring from battery to started burned up,battery failurem alternator failed, and ecm failed as well. Repair cost approx $4600. 00. Service airbag light & check engine light on also & p0013 code. Looked up veh history, shows recalls on some of this were supposedly performed, but hard to believe. 6 speed transmission, so gm won't honor.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to dick genthe Chevrolet (866-874-7380, located at 15600 eureka rd, southgate, mi 48195) and the contact was asked if she wanted the vehicle repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15v269000 (seat belts). The contact approved the recall repairs. Six days later, the contact was informed that the vehicle was not ready and she was not allowed to see or retrieve the vehicle. The contact was called two hours later to pick up the vehicle. When the vehicle was staerted, the air bag indicator illuminated. The technician informed the contact that the failure made the vehicle unsafe to drive and it needed to be diagnosed. The contact stated that there was no air bag failure with the vehicle prior to the repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered a $250 discount towards the repairs ("take or leave it"). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 89,865. Parts distribution disconnect.
I'm driving on a city street with a passenger in the passenger seat and suddenly the air bag light comes on and all of the gauges on the dash board stop working (speedometer/gas) and radio goes black. It happens intermittently and usually only when someone is in the passenger seat. I'm not sure if I lose my headlights as well because I haven't had it happen at night yet.
