Power steering flashes on dash board and I lose complete control. I then have to use my strength to turn the wheel while the vehicle slows down. Sometimes this goes away and it drives fine. I've experienced it shutting down while going down the high way and this cannot be safe! after researching recalls, it appears I am experiencing the details of the recall for the torque sensor. The vehicle is below 150,000 miles. It also randomly will flash service air bag.

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the passenger's air bag occupant sensor had become defective and would not recognize any occupant under 130 pounds seated in the passenger's seat. The contact took the vehicle to wally edgar Chevrolet service (3805 s lapeer rd, lake orion, mi 48360) where a diagnostic test was performed and the contact was provided an estimate to replace the occupant sensor. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

When I turn my car on it shows service airbag and the sensors are good and hasn't been in a wreck. I'm afraid that it will deploy when I'm driving down the road or they won't deploy if I was to be in a wreck. It comes on as soon as your turn the car on.

The traction light keeps come on when cranking up car. I then received the message esc off and service power steering. Have had thus problem several times before and had to replace whole steering column. Had vechile checked at Chevrolet dealer and was told it was the torch sensor.
While driving home from work on a side street I smelled a burning smell and smoke started coming out of my steering wheel. The sensor light for my air bag then came on and has been on ever since.

The sensor light for my airbags stays on. The car has less than 50,000 miles on it, and the sensor does not work.
First time car was in park. Then the traction control light comes but doesn't turn off. Also message pops up saying to service traction control. Next was stationary, I stopped at a light and the car just shut off. Next was stationary and the car turned on but then the cluster instrument lights didn't come on it was completely dark. Also while in motion car rpm didn't read anymore and it was shifting hard. Another thing it says service tire sensor and service airbag.

When my 2013 chevy Malibu is in motion and someone is in the passenger seat (many but not all times) all of the electronics, including the electronic speedometer, and all dashboard gauges, in the car stop working and notifications about the airbag system and braking system appear. The mechanical aspects of the car still seem to work fine, but the notifications about the airbags and braking make me concerned that it is not safe. This has been happening for a year. I have tried taking my vehicle to the dealership multiple times and have been told they either cannot replicate it or they will "fix" something that doesn't end up solving the problem. Given that this problem started randomly and not with any intervention on my part of the part of any mechanic, I am contacting NHTSA because I am concerned that this problem is related to the airbag sensor in the passenger seat and that this might be happening with other people and could represent real danger if this really is affecting the airbag and braking systems (even when the passenger seat is not in use).

My car all of sudden on freeway snatched back from doing 65 plus to freaking less than 30 miles instantly "engine power reduced" message appears and check engine light comes on. It continues to do this everyday my car will not drive over 30-35 mph. I have two kids this is not safe. I travel! I take my car to penske Chevrolet of cerritos dealer and they claim its a accelerator pad sensor. Prior to taking my car to dealer I had a conversation with a CO worker who has the same car she told me the issue beforehand because she experienced it and was stuck on a highway!they also state that "every Malibu is having this issue" and due to that the item is on back order. I had to pay and still have to pay for labor of that item which I don't think is fair. It should be a recall. I feel well no it is obviously hazardous and chevy has people and kids driving in cars like this . . . What if I get in an accident? how many cars does it take to realize this item needs to be recalled? does someone have to die for Chevrolet to realize that this needs serious attention?.

Passenger seat sensor causes electrical components inside vehicle to be disabled. Heat and air conditioning do not function and temporary loss of power occurs. This occurs while vehicle is in motion and while stationary.
My airbag sensor light has been on for the past couple of month. There are recalls on 2011 Malibu's for airbag but my VIN is not included in recall, however the sensor light has been on.

Service esc, service traction control, service air bags, brake lights on when pedal not pressed and not on when pedal is pressed and cruise control doesn't work periodically. These message appear off and on while driving. I have had the sensor under the brake pedal replaced twice now. Last time 14 months ago so no longer under warranty and needs replaced again.

I bought my car used, it hasn't even been a year yet that I have had it. My air bag sensor went off so I had it checked. They then gave me a quote of how much it is to fix they informed me that it is the main brain of the airbags and technically it controls both drivers & passenger airbags. So right now because the brain failed I do not have air bags at all. If I were to get in an accident I would not be protected. I have talked to a friend at the attorney general's office and they think that the air bag might have been defected and to check into it. I have a cheverolet case number and have been dealing with this for a couple of weeks now. Please check into this further on this end. Thank you.
The air bag is going off and I looked it up and they want lots of money for this problem and it happens in so many Malibu's of this year and even more years. I'm just worried it's a safety hazard when I'm driving myself and girlfriend or anyone else for that matter. What if the sensor is bad and it doesn't deploy if needed.

Takata recall: my vehicle sensor are reading incorrectly. My check engine light won't go off, random light come on and off, my sensors is not reading my engine and engine location or tires. System is also reading there are no air bags or says passenger seatbelt is not in place when it is. Frequently my wiring glitches and I can not control the mirrors or windows, ect. My coolant and oil constantly drains out but no hole is noticeable. My car exhausts and won't move like it is supposed to as well.
The power steering sensor will suddenly go off and my wheel locks, I cannot turn my wheels, I feel really unsafe I almost crashed with myself and kids.
The seat belt keeps dinging like the seatbelt is not connected to the seatbelt latch and it is. The engine light comes on and off. I have taken it to the dealership the light goes off so they can never figure out what's wrong with it. Except once which it came back to it being the solenoid sensor. They fixed it. But, engine light still comes on. The seatbelt dings doing the whole ride or if your siting still. The engine light comes on off and on. Just bought the car 9/23/2017.
For the last few months I been having trouble with my car. First it started with my lock buttons. Whenever I would push the buttons nothing would happen but when I closed my doors it would start locking on and off all by themselves. My esc always giving me trouble one day the light is on and the next it's off. Whenever the light was on I took it to get checked but no code came up. Till this day I have trouble with my esc! at time it's would say it had cut off!!! the air bag sensor goes on and off also. Some days it's on some days it's not!! well today March 29, 2017 I was driving to work and my car just starts to slow down. It wasn't taking no gas at so I pulled over and put the car in park. When I pressed down on the gas it gave it some gas. I took the car out of park and drove off.
The sensor that determines if the passenger airbag turns on does not work properly. I weigh 100 pounds (which is above the threshold for what should trigger the airbag to be on) and about half the time the airbag is disabled when I am sitting in the seat properly with my feet on the ground and the chair upright. I contacted Chevrolet to have them reimburse the cost of fixing this issue because it is a safety issue and has caused recalls in other Chevrolet cars, but they have refused to investigate. The sensor malfunction doesn't seem to be correlated with whether the vehicle is stationary, in motion, on a street or highway, etc. It happens about half of the time and can sometimes go on and off during the same car trip even if I stay in the same position the whole time. This issue has reported for Chevrolet Malibus on several online forums so I know it isn't an isolated issue with my car. We are concerned about what could happen if we were in a crash and the airbag didn't go off or went off late when the passenger's body was too close to the airbag.
Passenger air bag error message that air bag sensor does not work.
The passenger airbag sensor has gone bad making it extremely dangerous to drive with a passenger in my vehicle because anything electronic on the dash will turn off, as well as the a/c and radio etc. This is an extreme safety hazard. I've seem numerous complaints about this airbag sensor issues yet everytime I've checked, there is no recall for this problem. The sensor randomly went out when the car was hardly 3 years old, that is not normal. I don't understand why gm has not done a recall for this. This could result in dangerous accidents or death of a passenger.
Service air bag and light came on took it to a gm dealer they told me that with the miles it had 44,000 it was not covered under waranity and I would have to pay to have it checked and repaired and I told them this is not rite and I should not have to pay for something like this I did find out that they have been a lot of the sensors under the hood being replaced because water was getting in them if so I belive this should be a recall from gm and it should be takeing care of this is a safety issue and should be looked into they want to charge for something they know that is defective is so wrong.
The airbag sensor goes off due to heat rising. Especially in the summer when car temperature rises. This past summer I've had the sensor go off more than 3 times a month due to the excessive heat, I'm currently unsure if it'll even deploy correctly if I'm in an accident. I usually have to remove the airbag and then check for any damage to it and then re-insert it. Airbag is still the original part, never been deployed before. I know a lot of other owners have had the same issue and have posted on chevymalibuforum. Com.
Electrical and module problems safety hazards with traction control. Tc on when it should not be. Fuel system problems. Car powers off during driving. Gm refused repair without charging 120 to look at. Had to disconnect fuses and had to pull actuators pressure. Sensors fuel and electrical. Door latches going up and down even when car is off. Cannot drive highway. Gm refused vehicle from repair or compensation.
I used to get a warning to "service airbags" on the stereo display, and a chime, typically when I first started up the car. This started when I was living in southern illinois. I drove with my backpack on the passenger seat, and occasionally that seat would chime for passenger to buckle up. The service air bag message would stay up for about 5 miles of driving, then would not illuminate again. Finally caught it in the act, got it to a dealership, where they told me their diagnostic came up with a passenger seat occupancy sensor was failing/had failed. The only remedy offered was to clear the computer, or consider a brand new passenger seat (which at that time exceeded the estimated blue book value). Clearing the computer of that trouble code lasted about a week. Couldn't offer more info such as if the airbag wouldn't deploy if needed, or if it was like a jack-in-the-box and might trip unnecessarily. That was almost 5 years ago, this summer it stopped advising me of the need for service. I'm not sure if the sensor finally gave out, or if some component(s) were damaged in a collision that ripped off the bumper this winter.
Swerved to avoid a deer and struck a guard rail, head on. Air bags didn't deploy and seat belt didn't lock up. Police, fire, ambulance and tow truck driver couldn't believe the bags and seat belt failed. Daughter was driving and receive a concussion, a v shape cut in scalp requiring 17 stitches to close and severe bruising all over. Police thinks her head struck the steering wheel or possibly the rear view mirror. Slack in seat belt allowed too much body movement and the air bags failure cause the head trauma. Entire front end of car is destroyed so sensors should have activate.

Passenger presence module failure r&r pps module w/sensor w/heated seats, (inlcudes: calibration, r&I seat) program pps module is this a common failure for this make and model of vehicle? is their a recall shceduled to be released to repair this component?.
First issue noticed was passenger airbag not on while passengers are in front and rear of vehicle. The passenger airbag sensor works 50% of the time. Second issue started close to the same time as the airbag. When using the keyless entry or the electric lock buttons inside the car , it fails to lock or unlock the passenger side doors. After 30 minutes or so it will then lock the doors. The latest issue started on the 19th of November 2014 with the driver side lowbeam not working as like it's blown. The car has been sitting for two days since and now the lowbeam is working but, it's dim compared to the passenger lowbeam. I believe there's a short in the electrical system from manufacturer. There are many forums online about these issues online from other owners. This car has not had any aftermarket installations of its electrical components and the battery is new. Chevrolet needs to take the time when manufacturing their vehicles instead of cutting corners. Their customers safety should be valued better than worrying about sales. You would think after going under they would take the time to do things right the first time. I highly doubt I will ever purchase a vehicle manufactured after 2002 from Chevrolet due to all of the electrical components that fail or cause serious injury or death. Please fix these issues or lose a 15 year customer.
2013 Chevrolet Malibu. Attorney representing consumer writes in regards to vehicle seat belt and airbag sensors failure during an accident. The consumer and his wife were involved in a head-on collision. The impact was so severe that the rear of both vehicles went up in the air and the consumer's vehicle rotated and landed with its tires over a guardrail. Occupants, from both vehicles, suffered injuries.
In my 2012 Chevrolet Malibu's when my wife sits in the passenger seat the airbag system does recognize she is there. You can watch as the system goes through it's start up process with the airbag on/off light cycling from off to on and back to off. We were told that it is how my wife sits in the seat but I have video of her sitting with her feet on the dash (which is not an "approved" seating position) and the airbag system shows the seat is occupied and the passenger airbag is armed. This problem has not occurred in any other vehicle we have driven. My wife weighs 145 so it is not that she is too light for the sensor. The other day I was at a gm dealer and found a used 2012 Malibu with the same trim package as mine and we tested it to see if that car would do the same thing as mine. It did on the first time we turned the key, I have video of that failure. We have been unable to reproduce this problem except in both 2012 Malibu's. On my car the passenger presence sensor has been replaced 3 times and a seat from another Malibu was installed and the airbag system still fails to operate correctly. The dealership told me the gm engineer said he did not know how to solve this problem. I have seen other videos online with the same issue. I have over 20 videos showing the system work and the system failing. The VIN I listed is for the car on the dealer lot.
Several times when starting my car my seatbelt light stayed on and chimed. There was a display on my radio that read, service airbag. I checked my manual and read that the air bag doesn't need maintenance service and if the light stayed on, something with the electrical system may be the fault. It suggested that sensor's may be at fault in different area's of the car and to sit upright. I made sure when getting back in my car to sit as far back as possible in the seat. It didn't come on, but has reoccurred several times since the first time. With the recent recalls, I am wondering if this is also under that recall with the ignition and seatbelts.
The "service air bag warning" comes on. A sensor, located under the front passenger seat, was replaced some months ago. We are having the same problem again. The problem is the same sensor. I have spoken to to others with the same model car and some said they had to have the sensor replaced, as well.
"service air bag" kept coming on, maybe for a day or two then would go off for many days. Did this for many months. This past may the message came on more than was off. Had it serviced to replace the sensor on passenger side. Very costly!!.
Airbag sensor goes off and on intermittently. Has been that way since I purchased it from the dealership. It appears I was sold a vehicle with faulty wiring. This poses a health and safety issue as the dealership would not take responsibility for the airbag claiming it to be something that was my fault and that I should absorb the cost to repair it. Luckily, I have not had any accidents however, in the event that one should occur; the chances of the airbag functioning properly are slim to nil.
