While traveling at 60 mph, lost power for a split second then regained. About 5 miles toward destination, at a traffic light I was attempting to make a right turn & when I accelerated, the car completely died with line of traffic behind me. Should this car have died in the midst of heavy rush hour traffic we could have caused a serious accident with a chain reaction of vehicles piling up behind me & possible injuries. . We were slowly creeping around the corner trying to catch a clear path to proceed when the car went dead. There have previously been problems when after driving for 30 minutes then returning to the car it would not start, cranked but not start with no warning lights present. . But after repeated restart attempts it would start maybe an hour later. But this time it died in traffic 3 days ago and we had to be towed home, it still will not start. I've read online about many other Malibu owners having similar problems with concerns of accidents. No engine or dash lights came on and a dealer could not get it to code. The unsafe problem is the car dying in the traffic with no warning in front of a long line of traffic.

My thief light starts blinking and my car will not start. This has happened 3 times this past month. I was told it was the passlock to turn car in on position for 10 minutes or until light stops blinking then it would start. This is a safety issues that needs to be fixed before it happens while driving.

After starting engine, engine will turn off and radio display screen will read engine power reduced. engine will not start for several minutes, but the lights, radio, dash lights and everything will still work. This has happened in my driveway. The first time this ever happened I was on a busy main road at a stop light in the left turn lane. The car shuddered and the engine lost power. Again, the display screen displayed the same message. The car was rolling backwards and would not accelerate. After several attempts the engine did start again. Thankfully it was 6:00 am and I was on my way to work so there was very light traffic.

When the vehicle comes to a stop at a light, the vehicle shuts off while in drive, however the lights & radio remain on in the car & the start button still shows the car as on. The engine will not rev & the car will not move forward when in drive. When attempting to turn the car off then on again, the car will not restart without a jump. When attempting to cut the car on without a jump, the doors lock & unlock on their own and all of the lights in the car, along with the lights on the dash, flicker on & off and there is a clicking noise but the car doesn't cut on.

When starting the Malibu the dashboard lights illuminate and when the key is turned to start the car the lights go out and the fuel gauge drops to zero or empty and the car will not start. This problem also occurs when driving the car and the ignition system shuts down leaving you with no steering assist and the engine is not running. So this problem is both in a standing start and while operating the car. I had initially brought the car to devan lowe gm dealer and service department for repairs and they discovered the fuel pump was not working properly. They replaced the fuel pump and the problem with the ignition is still persisting. This creates a dangerous condition for the driver and other cars on the road. I would request that GMC have the car towed to the devan lowe service department for troubleshooting purposes in coordination with gm technical department and reach a resolution as to the cause of the problem and issue a recall for all affected cars.

Car stalls while operating, car shuts down while driving and fails to restart without warning. "service stability" battery save mode shift to park all blink when this happens. I have experienced this problem several times over the past year. Car will also shut down when the vehicle is not in motion ie stop signs, traffic lights, stop & go traffic. . . Etc. The car having no power that I can't even put my emergency lights on. This happens for the last time on 6/11/2020 cars brakes became tough to push could barely stop the car, once stopped the car lost all power shut off in the middle of a busy intersection I was almost rear ended. Car would not restart and had to be towed once again. All the same warning lights. My car is currently broke down and not starting at all. Also I have 2 of water in wheel well car leaks water into spare tire well. Car is molding due to this issue. This car model should be recalled. This could cause some horrible accident because of a malfunction/ defective part that was installed. This has happened to many many people. Please look into this. People are spending lots of money for repairs and rental cars. Im a single mother of 3 children, this car is suppose to be safe to drive. It's by far from that. The money I'm spending on a rental car so that I can go back and forth to work is not cheap.

On the highway going 65 mph, the engine shut off without warning but the battery/electronics were still on. I safely stopped the car on the side of the road. The check engine + abs + traction control lights came on simultaneously. The car would not start. I finally had to call a tow company. No mechanic knows how to fix it. Upon further research, many owners of the same make model and model year range suffered similar situations. The car still won't start till now.
At 1st my car wouldn't crank every so often then started going drag while driving I googled it and had to beat on fusebox in trunk or wiggle wires so had to run wire straight to battery to fuel pump. My headlights on dim keep shooting and my speakers will go out sometimes.

My theft system warning light keeps coming on. When I turn the key off and try to restart the car it will not start back. I have to turn it to the on position and wait until the theft light quits flashing which is usually 10 minutes and then restart the car. I was told by a Chevrolet dealership mechanic that the problem was the ignition cylinder which cost around $180. Why is there not a recall for this.
When I was on my way home, my car's warning lights started to flicker, and power steering service and charging system warning lights appeared. My entire dash went completely black and steering wheel became completely hard. The car stayed on, but all the lights went off. After a few seconds, the car shut off. Car would not restart, even with a jump. Mileage on car was at 110,000 miles. Luckily I was on a residential street, so I just pushed the car safely in front of a random house. Upon further examination, this appears to be an on going problem. I've found hundreds of other owners with a similar problem on various forums. Some are very similar to my problem, while others are more dangerous. Below, I have quoted other owners personal stories as well the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. Takata recall I purchased a 2012 chevy Malibu 2 years ago for my graduating senior and this car has practically been a nightmare since the day we purchased it. The current mileage is 43,000 and there has been so many problems with this car. The car previously shut down while riding on the highway, our mechanic stated the car has electrical issues. Okay, so he tampered with a few wires, and the car started right up. Two days ago, the car wouldn't start, it's currently displaying "check airbag" emergency lights are flashing, wipers began going back and forward. My husband began to shake a few wires (per our mechanic) , and long behold the car has started!!! talk about buyer's remorse!!!! this car is now parked in our garage until we figure out what to do with it!!! I'm now concerned for my son's safety and will not allow him too drive the 2012 chevy Malibu.
Car will not start and it gives message of service traction, service esc. I see that other 2009 maliibu have been recalled for the same reasons. Why not mine? I have been researching and I think it may be the wiring. The recall #14v252000 covers this.

The vehicle will not start. Everything is dead on the car, no power no interier lights, nothing. The dealer could not seem to find a problem. The car is out of warranty now and, it continues to have the problem.
The vehicle continuously locks itself and the power lock buttons do not work to open the doors, you have to physically turn the car on and put it in gear then back in park to get the locks to disengage. There are times that the brake/head lights do not work or they turn on by themselves when the car is not running. Earlier today 04-09-17 the vehicle would not start at first, after a few tries the engine turned over but while driving it in town it completely died. The vehicle restarted but could have caused an accident.
