Carrier/rack Problems of Chevrolet Malibu

Driving through a sandstorm at 45mph( slow lane and speed sure to visibility) on interstate 10 from rancho mirage to desert hot springs, California, the vehicle windshield cracked nearly a foot. I was charged $400 by enterprise rentals since this was a rental vehicle. A small chip could be seen, size of a ball point pen tip, at beginning of crack. Enterprise has the photos and this was repaired by caliber auto glass in tustin, CA. Rental vehicle unit # 7t1dm2. 2021 chevy Malibu with 5,360 miles on odometer at the time. Reduced engine power warning 12/29/20 plus numerous occurrences in 2019 while driving on the highway; vehicle slows to 40mph without warning shift to park warning when vehicle already in park, can't shut off vehicle until it recognizes park, often taking upwards of 10 minutes of repeated shifting stabilitrack sensor warning and loss of cruise control, at highway speeds.

So many issues, car currently not starting. Codes were for brake booster and maf sensors, replaced both. Still won't start. Open recall emc, called dealership, they stated recall is free but since it won't start I have to pay 125 so they can hook it to computer. Shift to gear happens weekly, car will be in park. Stabiltrack came on a few times, but goes away. It tells me icy conditions on evan warm days, display will go black bu usually randomly comes on. The worst is the reduced engine mode. There is no rhyme or reason. I have been on the street doing about 35 mph and it does it also on highway at high speeds with 4 kids in the car, terrifying and dangerous. I am sure I'm forgetting things I have just come to not feel safe or comfortable driving this car, local dealership is no help. Took a picture of one of the first time it happened but that was 20000 miles ago, haprns randomly and almost in clusters. I can go a month or 2 with nothing and then it's 2-4 times a day for a few days or weeks, and then stops.

Engine light continues to come on repeatedly. Resetting does not fix the problem. Engine shuts off while driving. Then suddenly the engine comes back on at an accelerated speed. Engine shuts off at traffic light when my foot is on the brake. When I remove my foot from the brake and press the accelerator the car jerks into gear. Sometimes the stabil track appears on my dash board. Also, steering reduce be careful appears on my dash board. Sometime the driver side window will not go up or down. I have car shield but I can not find a mechanic to accept it. They all say that car shield is a rip-off.

Cracked exhaust manifold causes carbon monoxide fumes to enter the passenger compartment causing illness. Symtoms include, dizziness, nausea, headache, watering eyes, runny nose. A definite health risk.

Alternator bearing is going bad. I have not replaced it yet the car is only two years old alternator should last at least seven years. I also had a new engine put in a few months ago because of the piston cracked. So many issues with the new engine in the 2016 chevy Malibu model.

The floor under driver's seat is soft. When I place my foot down on the floor it sinks in. And the driver's seat started out with a small crack now it is broken.

Cracked manifold. Smell exhaust fumes upon start. And will dissipate after engine has warmed up. Thought it was just my car but have read numerous complaints online.

I have taken it in for maintenance at my local Chevrolet dealer however they continue to tell me that they cannot duplicate the noise. The noise sounds like it may be coming from my back axles and doesn't seem to be affected by a minimum or maximum speed. I have ensured all brackets are secured inside of my trunk as I thought there might have been something loose .

I have been having an issue with my 2011 chevy Malibu since the beginning of the 2017 yr. Every time I slow down (20mph or less) or stop my car starts to shake uncontrollably and the esc and tracking light comes on as well as the check engine line comes on and starts blinking. Also, the car looks like it is loosing power. Once I try to accelerate, the car will not go fast at all. It is like it has to build power back up. It is now the summer time and I cannot turn on my ac because if I am driving less the 40mph, my car will just cut off. I have replaced everything under my hood except my engine. I took my car to numerous mechanics and one particular one told me I need a new engine. How? when I see too many people with this reoccurring issue. This is a 2011 how could there be a bad engine in all these cars. I tried to take my car to chevy due to a recall that is out for the esc on these cars and since my VIN number did not match the location in which the recall came from, even though it is for a 2011 chevy Malibu, they would not honor the recall. I am afraid I am going to get hit and killed. I am at a stopping point. My car tag expires in Dec I need to find a resolution. I don't know what to do anymore. . To beat it all I still am making payments on the car. Fml.

The heating system has an exhaust smell coming thru the vents when in use once car is warm. It seems to happen when the control setting is on panel. Doesn't seem to happen in defrost setting. Have to crack window to get fresh air when in use because it has caused my wife to get light headed while driving. I have had it into the local chevy dealer twice to be told there is nothing wrong with it.

At 17000 miles, I noted cracks in the sidewalls of the original equipment firestone fr710 tires. My mechanic inspected the tires and told me that the tires were completely dry-rotted, requiring replacement of all 4 tires. The date code on the tires (4210) indicated that the tires were 4 year old at the time that the cracks were noticed.

Cracks noted in tire sidewalls. Tread appears to be separating. Tires are firestone fr710 with a date code of 4210. Mileage on tires is approx 17000 mi. Photos are available for review.

Filled up with gas started the car headed down the road and the gas gage dropped down the e and showed low fuel. Then a few minutes later the gage went back up the f. Now the gage goes up and down all the time. The only way for me know how much gas I have is to look at the read out on display. I have to keep track of how many miles I'm driving in order to make sure I don't run out of gas.

First noticed issue when leaving dentist office and I started car , tried to back out and steering didn't work. I could turn the steering wheel, like having no power steering but worse. So I turned off car and restarted the car and then the power/ electronic steering worked. Then two days later I was driving down hwy 114 going to work early morning, and in the middle of me driving the steering went out again. I have had some old cars where the power steering went out and I had to "muscle" the steering so I did that the remainder of the way to work. Good thing I am physically strong enough to do that or I probably would have been in an accident. Got to work cut car off and started it back and the steering returned. I notice no recalls for the 2007 Malibu and dealership way more than I could afford to fix. Did have another licensed mechanic replace the rack and pinion system and electronic steering and so far so good. However this should not have been my cost for a defective system in the Malibu where a lot of other models got recalls but not the 2007. I feel I should be reimbursed my funds to fix.

I was driving down the road at 30mph and heard some popping in my left front tire. I then noticed that I could not turn my steering wheel to the right. It took all of my strength to get it to turn slightly and the more I tried to turn the wheel, the louder the popping sound got. I was no longer able to steer my car. Thankfully I was able to drive into the parking lot of monro and they were able to take a look at the car and told me that my sub frame steering rack completely cracked and that the car was no longer drivable. He said I was very lucky to have not been in a serious accident considering this was so sudden. I had my car inspected a month ago and it passed with shiny stars. It was in fantastic shape and is now undriveable.

We reported last year to gm that we were without power steering, instead of fixing our car the argued with us that there hasn't been a recall on the power steering. Now we are having problems with the tracking. And the transmission has been slipping since last summer.

It seems to happen when it is cold outside, the undercarriage somewhere sounds like it is loose whenever you hit a small hole in the road, go over railroad tracks, really anything.

My vehicle stalled on railroad tracks I did have a heavy load on the key chain and when it would not move I kept hitting the gas pedal but it would not move when in the process of raising my leg up and down on the gas pedal I hit the ignition switch the engine failed I then put it in reverse and nothing I said to myself I have got to get out of this car the train is going to hit so I was able to unleash my seatbelt and open the door that is the time when the union pacific train hit right in front of my driver s front door I was thrown 30 feet from the vehicle and of course the car was totaled. I was airlifted to th hospital when they finally found me in a rice feild. I almost died from this accident . I did not receive a letter from gm stating the problem with the vehile that it would cut the engine off as I stated before. It took me 2 1/2 years to recoperate. And I still live with problems to my neck and shoulder. I had my spleen removed ,contusions to my head ,which to this day I stutter, I also had my spine twisted, I suffer with that also. Anyway I just found out about the recall from a total stranger, last week the next day I entered my VIN number on the gm website and it is a vehicle that is on the recall list.

My vehicle stopped on the railroad tracks-the train was approximately 1 mile -or so away- the car just stopped-I then kept hitting on the gas peltal with no movement-so I took my seatbelt off and opened my door -to run away from the scene of the accident- but it was too late the train struck in front of my passenger door-I was suppose to die that night-they reached out to my family-but by the grace of god I am still alive-still live with the injuries that were sustained----.

3 times to dealer for trunk leaks, paint repair on new car. Brakes are pulsating again after second rotor set replacement. Chevy had best get going with a fix or its going to lose many customers for life. The brake problem seems endemic to Malibu owners! blower motor replaced, door handles leak cold air, rattles and squeaks like you wouldn't believe. I've never had a worse new car purchase than this piece of crap. Chevy has really screwed us on this one!.
