I was driving on the parkway and my car suddenly made a clunking noise with a notice that popped up saying reduced engine power and dropped down to 20 mph. I was able to safely pull over, but this was extremely dangerous and I almost got hit on a 4 lane road high speed road. I was not able to accelerate my car past 20mph. The check engine light remained on even after pulling over and restarting my car after 30 minutes. My car is out of warranty and will not be covered.

The vehicle was purchased from a dealership in June of 2020. Since owning the vehicle, the vehicle has had nothing but issues. Major issues including a stalling/puttering vibration when stopped at a light as well as just starting the car, it has an extremely loud start and rough. Have had this vehicle in and out of the dealership multiple times including one visit taking 3 weeks with a rental I was given. The issues are still all here, including an overheating with my warning systems not giving any sort of signs or lights, onstar thankfully told me to get the vehicle in immediately as I was in the red for overheating and the fan still continues to work after the car has been off for a few minutes. A smell of burning comes from the car everyday and overall doesn't feel safe. The other issue I believe is starting to occur is with the recall of the corroded rear toe links causing major clunking noises when hitting bumps and turning.

When the vehicle comes to a stop at a light, the vehicle shuts off while in drive, however the lights & radio remain on in the car & the start button still shows the car as on. The engine will not rev & the car will not move forward when in drive. When attempting to turn the car off then on again, the car will not restart without a jump. When attempting to cut the car on without a jump, the doors lock & unlock on their own and all of the lights in the car, along with the lights on the dash, flicker on & off and there is a clicking noise but the car doesn't cut on.
Takata recall my car has completely shut off on me twice in traffic now, this is dangerous because you loose control of your steering and brake system luckily both times I was not going at a high speed and I let the car slow on it's own, but there are no error codes popping up, no type of warning at all that something is wrong with the car. Sometimes it won't start in the morning so at first I thought it was the battery or remote battery so I changed both it started working for about a week so I thought the issue was fixed but it still cuts off a few times a day, like today it wouldn't start and when I finally got it started my heat and air conditioning system would not work, other times my home screen will be completely black and no power to it. I hope whatever is going on with these vehicles are fixed soon because it is very scary and dangerous when this happens especially in the middle of traffic. Another thing when my car is stationary and it won't start I will push the push to start button you will here a clicking sound and the engine light will flash but the engine will not turn on once I do get it started I get the word stabiletrak, so I took my car to the chevy dealer once again and they are not able to find anything wrong with it.

As I was driving in in chicago interstate 94 doing about 60mph the motor just stopped running the steering was hard I had difficulty going to the sholder there was no warning lights like if I just turned the switch to off after I got to the sholder the car just didn't want to start. . I called my mechanic he said try to reboot the pc. Unplug the battery. I did the car started but started with a ticking noise. In the engine I cancelled my plan turned around started to go heme 20 minutes later on the same interstate 94 the car did it again this time all the warning lights came on. But tjis time it was harder to steer the car . . . Can you imagine driving in the freeway with your family on board next to semi trucks and your car just stops responding. . . . . I thing this problem should be looked at before a deadly accident happens.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the driver side air bag warning indicator illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the air bag was deploying from the driver seat and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that a sensor failed, but it was not a concern. In addition, the contact observed a leak coming from the vehicle and took the vehicle back to the dealer. It was diagnosed that the head gasket failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, one month later, the contact observed a leak again, the check engine warning indicator illuminated, and an abnormal clicking noise was heard. The dealer diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced due to the head gasket being previously repaired improperly. The engine was replaced. One month later, the vehicle would not start and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring was done improperly and not up to safety standards. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 93,723.

My check engine light randomly comes on and sometimes I would hear a noise coming from the engine. While driving on the highway I could feel the acceleration give out randomly around 60 mph. I brought to the dealership and the light was no longer on. They stated that they can't see what is going on unless the light is one and I asked for a transmission flush, since it was around the time the book deemed it necessary to be done, and they stated they no longer perform transmission flushes for the 2010 chevy Malibu and if I wanted to go somewhere and do it on my own that was up to me. I went to multiple places who does transmission flushes and they stated they could not perform the task, only the dealership could. So now here I am today I pulled into a drive thru and my car started bucking really bad and as I started driving again the check engine light came back on and now it is making a crunching sound from the engine. I cannot drive my car if it is unsafe like this. I don't know what to do because my warranty is up as well. .

Cpo 2010 chevy Malibu @59k no known issues prior to explanations about 3 days ago I took my car in for new tires and had a mech check a clicking noise that I noticed when I would place the car in drive and begin to move. He stated that the noise was coming from where my cv enters the transmissions and believes there is play within a gear somewhere internally. I called the chevy dealer and am due to bring in the vehicle tomorrow. . . . Now here is the problem. While driving my car on the highway last night this random issue. The following warning lights came engine light traction control light followed by the following warning messages: eng pwr reduced service esc service traction esc off the car began to shudder as if it wanted to die. Along with this, I had no acceleration and thank god I was able to get to the side of the road as when this happened I was exiting a tunnel onto a bridge. After pulling to the side of the road I shut the car off and restarted it. All the lights continued to show, and the rpms jumped as seen in the attached video. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle started to jerk violently and making a clunking sound. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 46,000.
I purchased my 2006 Malibu in 2007. Since the time of purchase I have had problems with this car's steering column. It would make a clunking sound every time I would make a turn left or right. I knew something wasn't right. I took the car to the dealer once and they replaced something in the steering column. I still hear the clunking noise today. When I turned the key to start the car at times it seemed like the car was cranking and running on its own. Hard to explain it unless you were starting the car. That was an issue as well. Now this 2006 Malibu was parked in my drive way after going to the store and the next day when I tried to start it it would not start. I thought it might be the battery and had that checked out. Not the battery, then I was told it was the timing chain. I had the car towed to the shop where I purchased the car and now I am told that the rocker arm broke and in turn it bent the rods and damaged the engine. The engine is now ceased and damaged.

While driving home in my 2005 chevy Malibu classic I heard a load popping sound and smoke came rolling from under the hood. I thought at first that I had blown the tire off the rim since I could smell like burnt rubber and see the smoke but this was not the case. I looked down and saw all the gauges lit up and the engine had died. I coasted to the side of the road and called the fire department because the car would not stop smoking at first. By the time they arrived it had stopped because the oil had burned off of the motor. After having the car towed home and then to a repair shop the next day it was discovered that the cap came off of the end of a rod while the piston was in the up position the fuel inside forced the piston down causing it to blow a hole in the side of the motor. How or what caused that cap to come off causing this issue? I now have to try and locate a motor to replace the one currently destroyed.

Vehicle experienced a "ticking noise in the engine. " the consumer left front caliper bolt is stripped causing a vibrating/ grinding noise that radiates from the left front wheel under the driver side when the vehicle comes to a complete stop. When the dealer was contacted they stated that they could not duplicate the problem. And the consumer is trying to obtain an over all inspection of the mechanical defects of the vehicle so gm can be held responsible for the faulty automobile.
Front brakes pulsate when vehicle stops. Brakes had failed and dealer stated the problem could reoccur. Consumer states he is hearing a clunk noise in right front wheel area and brake noise in front when braking, vibration is worse after 30 miles of stopping, dealer replaced pads and resurfaced rotors; also, intermittently humming type noise during acceleration.

Driver heard knocking sound from engine. Took to weber cevrolet and problem was fixed. Piston and piston rings were bad. One week later driver hears popping noise from steeering column steering shaft was replaced. Gold package decals were fading off as well. Driver now hears knoking comming from engine again.
Engine pistons replaced at 2395 miles due to" piston slap". Replaced all six pistons with teflon coated ones. Patch areas on opposite sides of piston in area where the most vibration and wear occurs. All six pistons showed signs of significant wear in areas where teflon added. Advised by different dealer ase certified mechanics & service manager that installing teflon coated pistons is just a short-term stop-gap measure and the problem would return. Photos were taken of old pistons. Brakes continue to make popping noise, like calipers are sticking and there is noticable reduced braking on wet surfaces. Dealer says "nothing is wrong". Rack and pinion failed initially at 4044 miles . Replaced and the same sounds and feel has returned. 24 days out-of-service to date. Will take action via lemon law after 6 more days out-of-service.
After the vehicle was taken for an oil change engine began to make a loud knocking and ticking noise until vehicle warmed up. Manufacturer has recognized the problem ,and said that it was currently under investigation, but it was normal. Defect was in the pistons.
Vehicle would jump when trying to stop. Rotors were warped. Consumer had to put on 5 sets of rotors since Jan 2001. Contacted dealer who wanted consumer to extend warranty. The consumer stated that the front rotors are warped causing brake pulsation. The a/c does not flow out of the correct vents due to a/c control failure, the a/c control head also shorted out. The door was hard to open and close due to the lock being misaligned. Engine makes a clunk noise. While driving the vehicle surges. Left rear speaker shorted out. There is a clicking noise coming from the front when turning, consumer later stated that there was a chirping noise coming from the steering column.
Vehicle experienced several transmission related problems, consumer stated while pushing accelerator from a complete stop, engine would rev up but vehicle would not move, after a couple of seconds, the transmission would engage, this would also happen while driving, transmission experienced slipping, dealer rebuilt transmission, also, left front axle boot was torn, dealer replaced the left inner tripod joint boot. Gas cap tether broke, dealer replaced gas cap. Vehicle would vibrate while braking, dealer replaced warped rotors and front brakes, the right front caliper was later replaced due to a torn piston boot. Oil was leaking from the front crankshaft seal, dealer replaced seal. Steering column tilt housing bowl assembly machined improperly from factory causing tilt wobble, also caused a popping noise. Consumer heard a clunk noise from rear when going over bumps, dealer replaced both lower control arms.

Brakes have been faulty since new. Have taken to dealer to be fixed at least three times . Still having problems. My abs light comes on at least twice a week. The engine has a clicking noise when first started( cold start) . This is also been occuring since it was new.
Gm placed smaller pistons in the motor causing the vehicle to make a tapping noise on cold starts. Nlm.
