Came to a stop at a stop light auto stop came on. When let off the brake the auto start did not start. It tried to then completely shut off. Had to put car in park and turn the key to get it to start. I was in right lane trying to turn. The first time it happened it would not start with turning the key until the second time turning the key. This happened 5 times on my way home. Was almost rear ended. While it would not start at 2 stops cars thought I was going to move and I couldnt. Auto stop and start was coming on at almost every stop this morning and my husband made a comment about how that was strange and it should not do it. Yesterday we just replaced the intake and exhaust seanoid.

At 7473 miles, reduced engine power light came on while driving the car. Diagnostic code: p0013. Car was towed 50 miles to a dealer for repair and replacement of exhaust camshaft position actuator. Car was driven 4 times before the reduced engine power light came on again. Mileage under 8000. Diagnostic code: p0013. In both cases, the car still ran but it misses and cuts out.
My vehicle has 86,200 miles on it and I have to have both heads rebuilt because of a burnt exhaust valve. I have been told multiple times that this should not be happening at this low mileage on the vehicle. The engine idles really rough when in park or not in drive or motion. When stopped at a stop light, the "service traction, service esc, esc off" comes on. This goes away once you start driving again.

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, the key turned in the ignition; however, the vehicle did not start. The vehicle was jumpstarted and driven to an independent mechanic who determined that the camshaft failed and needed replacement. The vehicle performed normaly for a week, but later would not start again. The vehicle was taken to the same independent mechanic who determined that the variable valve timing intake and exhaust failed and needed repairs. The vehicle was repaired both times. The mechanic also stated that the wiring on the battery was done improperly. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,080.

@40,639 miles perform diag. Code p0014 replace exhaust solenoid valve. How could this happen orignal car owner. Is this a recall, not announce yet. Help!!!!!.
I have several complaints about this car that I believe to be manufacturer defects. The most serious issue I found today (4/19/2014) when I smelled gas outside of my car. Upon looking underneath my car I found my gas tank leaking onto my exhaust pipe. I consider this to be a recall issue because there is absolutely no damage to the undercarriage of my car. One of the other serious issues I have found with my car include a brake light issue. My car was occasionally showing a "service traction/ esc" error code, which could not be explained by any mechanic or even a chevy dealership themselves. It wasn't until a friend following me pointed out that my brake lights didn't seem to be working right, did I realize I was having an issue. The brake lights do the exact opposite of what they should, but only on the occasions said error code is showing. I looked into the issue online and found this to be a common problem. Chevy has not been able to give me a solution to this problem. The third major safety issue I'd like to point out, I know from experience is not exclusive to my car. When I sit in the passenger seat of my Malibu, among every Malibu I have ever been, the passenger side airbag does not turn on. I am 26 and weigh 94lbs, so I don't know if my size is the reason I do not engage the airbag!? the final defect I had to deal with involved my driver side rim. I had a tiny little hair line crack on the inside of my rim, causing me to loose a lot of air in my tire. I consider this a manufacturer defect because my rim was not damaged in any other way shape or form. I had a hard time obtaining a new rim, because (according to everyone I called) the rim was in high demand. Please look into these issues and consider adding them to gm's current recall list. Thank you for reviewing my concerns. . . Updated 04-23-14.
Since March 2014, I had instances where the chevy Malibu I was driving warned me on the dash that I needed to service the esc. It would tell me esc turned off and traction control turned off. This message would disappear when I turned the car off and restarted. It started doing it more frequently so I called GMC on August 2nd. I had to wait 2 weeks until they could get me in to the dealer. This whole time my car was shutting of my traction control. The malfunction indicator light came on solid and stayed on for 3 days on September 12th. They paid to diagnose and found that my 4th cylinder was missing and was leaking 45%. On September 17th, they suggested $140 for a carbon coil flush to see if it could possible fix the problem. On September 25th they did the coil flush at 10 am. At 1:06 I got the message that esc active. I went on a 2 week vacation and did not drive my car. On October 12th, at 2:08pm esc warning and shut traction control off. October 13th, at 5am the warning indicator light came on solid. On October 27th, they replace my intake/exhaust valve on the left side. I have not received any warning lights since then, but I drove from August to the end of October with the car shutting off the traction control. I can imagine trying to drive in heavy rain and dying because I didn't have traction control when I needed it most.

2011 Chevrolet Malibu. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle goes into "limp mode" while driving. Engine light, low traction warning and engine power reduced light would display. The consumer stated the vehicle would automatically and instantly lose power down to 25 mph. The vehicle would shake rather violently. The incident occurred over a period of 2 weeks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and a diagnosis revealed 2 error codes. The throttle body and the screen on the exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid valve was restricted and needed to be replaced.
There was a code for small large evap leak on the computer. We have replaced the sensor and part of the exhaust system and the code is still there.

Complete and total lock up of power setaring; battery light flicks on and then everything locks up until you relace the gas peddle for about 3 seconds. My lights randomly flash and rear bulbs on the driver side blow every 3 days. My turn signals will spraticaly blink and the wiper blades go off with out warning or being prompted. Even with no keys near or in the car it will not turn over to start the car until you floor the gas peddle and hold it there for 3-5 seconds. My raido reads at - all the time and the cd player has never worked correctly. When going from 0 to 50 getting on the parkway (highway) the whole car locks up and loses power including the stearing radio and lights unless you completely relese the gas then start to go again. Im so highly frustraited and chevy refuses to fix it even though these are all recalled problems but my VIN doesnt fall in there "bracket".
The power steering in the vehicle jumps from left to right going down the road. It is very hard to maintain your lane when this happens. It happens at all different points whether the car has been running or just started, it can last up to 30 min. Quit then start again it is very unsafe. My cayaltic converter has also gone out in this car. It looses tranmission power, doesnt accerlerate propmtly. When we first got the car we had it in the shop for the back trim leaking, trunk release not working, the car wouldnt start do to the aftermarket alarm the dealer ship placed on it, and the paint peeled. No I am having major issues and it is out of warranty. I wll never buy another chevy. This was the worst mistake ever and thos car is unsafe to drive.

Problem with the catalytic converter. The converter was plugged up with a substance that appears to be coming from the engine, not the usual way that a converter fail. My mechanic has told me that he has seen this on four different gm products, and that the dealer charged him an $80. 00 core charge for the converter, they really wanted it bake for some reason.

2003 chevy Malibu with 88k. During routine oil change was advised of oil in coolant. Upon taking to mechanic was told I had bad head/intake gasket and needed replaced , estimate cost $2400. Upon researching farther I found out that this is common on some gm vehicles with the same engine and that in fact a class action lawsuit had been settled in California earlier this year. In any case, I'm stuck with the bill on a repair that was caused by the coolant that the gm used and required as apart of the warranty.

Dt contact stated the steering wheel would move by itself. The contact would try to turn the steering wheel and the steering wheel would turn in the opposite direction this happened on may 15, 2004, and the dealer replaced the steering column. On October 17, 2005 . ,the same thing happened again and the vehicle was going into the local dealer today. There was no prior warning. This happened on dry road conditions. Also on September 1, 2005 the gas light kept coming on. , took the vehicle to the dealer, and they said there was a crack in the exhaust system. The dealer replaced the exhaust system. Now , the light is back on, and the dealer is going to check that too. Updated 11/16/2005 -.

I don't know where to begin with the complaints that I have for my '99 Malibu. The brake system on this car is the worst. I can't count the number of times that I have replaced my brakes. I was reading the complaint board and could not believe the number of people that had similar brake problems. You would think that the government would see some kind of pattern and make gm do something about this. I think car manufacturers should take some responsibility for the products they put out and someone should make sure that they do. I am now going to have to replace my intake gaskets because of anti-freeze leaking into the engine. I have seen over 50 complaints about this on the complaint board. I will never again buy a gm made vehicle. From now on I'm buying nothing but foreign made cars. My car is still sitting in my driveway waiting go get fixed because right now I can't afford the $400+ it's going to take to fix it.
White sulfides (fumes) are coming out of the vents and other openings in the vehicle. The manufactuerer has been notified. Updated.
Intake manifold gasket leaks on my 1997 Chevrolet Malibu. The local Chevrolet dealer verified this problem with my car and recommended gasket replacement at a cost of $585. Mileage is only 46,000. I must continue to add coolant at regular intervals otherwise engine will overheat.
