I noticed an oil leak in my garage and drive way from my vehicle which is an environmental and safety hazard. I have taken the vehicle to the manufacturer's dealership and an independent shop and their conclusion for the cause of the oil leak is from a head gasket and upper oil pan gasket leak. This vehicle is 4. 5 years old and has 78,000 miles on the vehicle and should have not presented an issue like this early in its life expectancy. The leaking head and upper oil pan gaskets causes environmental concerns of oil not being disposed of properly that could affect our wildlife and food supply. The safety concern is that there are no other signs of this failure thus it is a safety hazard for the occupants of the vehicle and commuters along side the vehicle.

I was driving home on the highway going 60mph and the reduced engine power sensor and check engine light came on! the car speed reduced to 20mph and I had to swerve to the far right lane to avoid getting hit by the other vehicles on the highway. This almost cost me my life! I got off the nearest exit taking the street way home. This is the second time I have seen this sensor go off. The first time it came on (April 2019) nothing happen to my car, it was driving perfectly fine and the sensor disappear 2 days later and I haven't seen it since until now. When the sensor disappear, then my car begin shaking when its in idle. I took the car to the nearest Chevrolet dealership and they stated that I had a leaking gasket. I couldn't believe it because my car never leaked any oil and I had my oil changes on time. A recall need to be added for this issue as it appears that people encounter this problem regularly!.
Car has had a leak for a month and when I finally got it to a car mechanic I was told that I had an intake gasket leak and that it was very common among Chevrolets. The problem I was told was that the manufacture had designed a poor gasket and that once the problem was identified that they came out with a more durable gasket. This repair was quoted at $700. Why is it that if this is a common problem and that the makers recognize this was a problem why it is that the consumer needs to be responsible to fix a faulty or defected item?.

In March of '05 took car in for sevice engine was ticking while idle at one point once car was warmed up the ticking stoped but now the ticking is still heard while driving and at acceleartion. Took car in the bob mcguire Chevrolet in bordentown, NJ was told that I had a head gasket leak that had already mixed with the engine oil. Had everything fixed and they even put in heavy duty lifter cleaner to clean the lifters according to mecanic that was were the tick was coming from but when I picked up the car the engine was still ticking when idle and the noise had gotten worse. When I asked what it would take to fix the ticking I was told that the whole job that was just performed on the car had to be performed again in order to fix the lifters that is causing the ticking.

The intake gasket on my 2000 Malibu is leaking and it's going to cost 550. 00 to repair it. Called jackson Chevrolet and service mgr. Stated he purchased Malibu for wife and he also replaced the intake gasket. The service mgr also stated that all the Malibus with that motor are bad about the intake gaskets leaking. Called gm and they said can't pay for repairs. Will not buy a gm automobile again. Still not fixed. Putting water and antifreeze in it everyday.
Gasket leaks antifreeze. Most of my firends and CO-workers who own Malibus have the same problem. The dealer estimated the repair at $1266. 00 (michael Chevrolet, summerville, SC - 843-875-8034). To me, it appears that most of the cars (2 years or older) have the problem. The part should last much longer.

I have 43,000 miles on my 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and have been told my head gaskets are leaking. Anti freeze is leaking external to the engine. I have had the car maintained and see no reason a head gasket should fail with only 43,000 miles, the mechanic said this is a very common problem with this engine. If the local mechnic's knows about the problem why hasn't Chevrolet been made to take care of this defect at there cost instead of the consumer for a know defect.

Intake gasket leaking, needs repair.
The steering rack & pinion and the engine intake gaskets in this 1998 model are faulty. The shoddy rack & pinion needs to be replaced and I have gone through numerous tires over the years. The intake gaskets are leaking fluids and an engine blow out is imminent. With the leakages, the car is unsafe to drive. I have maintained all required maintenance according to the manual and the car is still under 50,000 miles but I am looking at a huge mechanic's bill due to a shoddy rack & pinion and intake gasket leaks.
Engine failed due to gasket leaks. Yh.
