My fuel pump does not work properly it reads empty. Also I was driving and my power steering stopped working as I was turning. I was very scared of crashing my car. I had to stop my car and turn it off then turn it back on and my power steering was working again. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 days.

Having steering and turning problems. Looking to be the electronic steering pump.
Eps (electronic power steering) went out randomly while stopped at a gas station. Steering wheel began to twitch and the electronic power steering goes in and out. Car was stationary, started, placed in reverse and moved from a parking spot to a gas pump. When I turned the vehicle off and back on, the eps was out. After cycling power a few times, the eps comes back. Once you turn off the car it goes back to not working. My year make and model were all a part of a recall for the eps, but gm states it does not apply to my VIN. No dealer will attempt to help fix this problem. This is ridiculous considering its the same problem that was already recalled for other vins of the same make year and model. See gm bulletin 14116 and dcs3206.
My 2006 chevy Malibu has had electric power steering malfunction. I was driving on a very dangerous city highway. With my three children in car. I looked up and saw there are recalls on the year and make of my car but the dealership says they don't see a recall under my specific vehichle. I don't think it makes since and I don't know anyone to fix it. Because most cars have a normal power steering pump.
The esc was turned off making it difficult to steer the vehicle. There was a recall for this issue but my vehicle was not included. How is that possible?! I have also had issue with the fuel pump, headlights and arm bars. I bought this as a used vehicle 3 years ago and have had nothing but mechanical issue after issue. Poorly manufactured vehicle. Including having to change out the entire fuse box.

Ecs deactivates and stais iluminated. Issue makes steeting hard to manubrate. Fuel issue. Fuel spilled around gas pump cap.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the steering seized and required more effort to safely operate the vehicle. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering pump malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not assist because the VIN was not associated with any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 91,867.

Since I have bought this used chevy Malibu, if I press the gas pedal to accelerate it sometimes lock myself steering wheel in position, and jerks my car a good bit. Then my car gives me a error message on my radio stating power steering pump fluid. I have done research and took to a mechanic and nobody could find it and suggested it may have a fuse not an actual reservoir for fluid. It occurs at while turning, driving on highways and all other roads, going up and down hills or moutains. As well as my middle seat belt buckle no longer latching into the buckle will hold for a moment and then after applying brakes the safety belt will dislodged from the buckle. Another issue is the gas hand goes from full to empty will sitting still with the car running. I can fill the tank and it will say it's empty and will even have my estimate miles left also say low fuel.
I was on my way to work and I had to stop to get gas. Everything was fine. I pulled away form the pump and proceeded to the end of the driveway. When I left the parking lot to pull into traffic, the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn. I was driving less than 5 mph. The traction control light was on, esc message, and service power steering system were activated. I drove back home and went to work in my other vehicle. 162,409 miles. I purchased the car brand new in February 2010. All oil changes and tire rotations have been completed at a chevy dealership. I've only purchased tires, two batteries, and windshield wipers for my car until last week. That was the engine coolant sensor. Until now I always bragged and said that my Malibu was the best car ever because I never had any issues with it.

The power steering keeps going out while I'm driving. The brakes fell when all of the break lights come on. . When I try to pump gas the gas comes back out at me.
Owner of a 2007 chevy Malibu. Had to replace fuel pump out of own pocket yet recall has not been extended to my VIN#. Also, while driving at a high rate of speed my power steering cuts out and the steering wheel is physically turns itself and locks the wheel throwing me into adjacent lanes and erratically moving my car on the road. This has been a safety recall on other 2007 chevy Malibus with the identical part number that is also on my car but after contacting gm I have been told that this is normal wear and tear on a vehicle and that to their knowledge it is safe for me to operate my vehicle, even though I have already had to repair 2 other recalls out of my pocket, had 2 taken care of by gm, yet now have an additional 3 or more parts on my car that are under recall but not extended to my VIN# but already showing identical symptoms for failure for parts that have been recalled. I feel like my life is in danger driving a vehicle gm is telling me that is safe. Not to mention the depreciation of the vehicle due to these mechanical issues. I have had numerous other issues with this vehicle and gm does not care about my safety or my money. I feel robbed.
While driving to work, I noticed the steering shake and stiffen up and I had loss of all power steering. Soon after that I had my driver side tire blow out and almost caused an accident. A couple of days later, I drove it to the dealership and the service representative told me that chevy Malibu's did have a recall on the electric power steering pump and torque sensor but not for my model (ltz). Which didn't make sense to me. Just because it's a different trim, the parts would be different? it doesn't seem possible. If this issue is occurring in chevy Malibu's, it should be addressed to all Malibu's regardless the trim of the vehicle. I would appreciate any help with this issue.
I had pulled into the gas station, and my gas cap is on the passenger side. The only available pump that was open, in order for me to use it I had to pull up and reverse to get on the side of the pump to which I can fill gas on. As I was turning my wheel back into place, the steering wheel itself got stuck and seemed really hard to turn. As I tried to move my car, I got an error on my driver information center that my electric power steering had gone out. I presumed to panic, as I have not been in this situation before. I than turned off the vehicle and turned it back on and the power steering was back. I have heard that there have been recalls on this part for the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu's, so I had taken it to the dealership, only to be told that there is no recall and that I have to replace my steering column and pay for it completely out of pocket. I was really hoping that general motors would be able to cover this under some sort of warranty fix, but I am just being turned away left and right and being told all I can do is pay out of pocket which this particular part and labor would cost me $1000. They are only basically telling me the highway or no way, and I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle. What I do not understand is that with these cars being recalled with this issue, and I am being told that my car does not qualify for the recall when I am having that exact issue for the recall. I am just really hoping to find someone that will be willing to help me get this covered under the recall warranty seeing as it is the issue of the recall being placed. I do not feel safe driving my vehicle while I have to wait 24 to 48 hours to see if I get a response from general motors to see if they will help me on this issue. All I am asking is that someone please, please help me on this issue.
My power steering keeps locking up on me and will not allow me to turn. It locks up while im drving on the highway and it locks up some time when I start the car up. Also my furl pump failed. It does not read telling me how much fuel I have in my tank.
I was entering a gas station, I heard bells, steering was affected, was very difficult to steer, caught me by complete suprise. I am 75 years old, I drive a car with less than 25m miles, always maintained by the dealership. Never have had a speeding ticket, one accident (my fault) in amost 60 years of driving, and I almost wiped out, as a gas pump was in my way. Called my dealership, and they said get it to them right away and refrain from driving my car. I did, and then the story begins. Turns out it way my power steering motor, and something to do with the steering column. , both needing replacement. As there are recalls on this specific problem for my Malibu, seems that my auto does not qualify. It suspends logic, that the very problem gm required me to repair, does not apply to this instance. They did pay almost half of my bill. But would not budge on the remainer. So can one assume only 1/2 was their responsibility, one has to wonder what half that was. I had the help of my dealership, they tried their best, but when paying for the repair, which I thought would be covered, there was a whopping charge, and my car became a hostage, awaiting payment. Little choice at this point. I opend a complaint with gm,. And after 10 calls later, was told to shove it, as my car did not qualify because of my VIN #. Help.

I was making a right hand turn onto a busy intersection and steering went out I ended up in the lane of on coming traffic turning in a left turning lane in opposite direction. Thank the lord no one was in that lane. And the 2nd time 2 weeks later it happened again when I was turning into a exxon station and almost hit the gas pump. Just glad my breaks worked good and had both hands on the wheel since the first incident occured. When will we get a notification about the recall. . I have not recieved anything yet. If need be I will take more steps because this needs to be fixed and I am not paying for it. I called the place where I bought the car and they gave me a number to call and I did and I was told to wait until I got recall card in the mail and have not seen anything yet. . . . . . That was a month ago.
The vehicle's power steering assist quit functioning making the vehicle very difficult to steer when my 16 year old was at the gas pump. The gm dealer inidcated it need a new steering column and possibly a module. While every model similar, and even vehicles in the same model year are recalled, according to gm mine is not, yet they seemed to know what was wrong before I came into the dealer to get my $90 estimate. I had the vehicle repaired by a third party with a gm part. I am not sure if the new part is any better than the part they took out, because according to gm, there is no recal issue on my vehicle.
I called in this complaint on 03/13/20014 to robin with complaint # 10568974 but it will not show up on search. The air bag light comes on and off at will. I called a complaint to chevy. Customer service #71-1282176959. On 07-12-12 the steering pump assembly was changed by special coverage adjustment 10183replace steering column installed 25933396 column. We are sure it was not a 2006 column but a newer year that has a recall on it. The chevy. Forum has a lot of recalls on air bags. The local dealer o"rielly will not do a scanner check for codes unless the light is on. We had it done a our automotive dealer and it showed code b0012 drivers deployment loop. We consider this a safety issue and should be covered by warranty or a recall on the new steering column. We would like this issue repaired at no cost to us.
As I was driving down the highway I was attempting to switch lanes and my power steering went out in my car causing me to almost hit another car, I pulled over and looked under the hood to see where I could put power steering fluid and did not find a pump. I got back in my car and started it up and the power steering was fine, driving down the road 5 miles and it went out again, I pulled over turned the car off and restarted it and it was fine however this continued to happen every 5-10 miles. I was told of a recall concerning this same issue so I called gm and they told me yes there was a recall on the same year make and model of my car for the same thing I was having trouble with however my VIN was not included. I had to pay 1,158. 00 to have this repaired and I do not feel it is fair. My car had the same issue as the ones under the recall and it is the same make model and year. I feel gm should be responsible.
After parking car briefly, came ou,t started it and steering hard, on center console was message for power steering. I looked for belts, thinking it had a pump and belt. It did not. Has electronic steering over hydraulics. Anyway turned key off and back on, steering was fine, this happened for a few days, some times you could cycle key once, others it could take multiple times. Also while sitting still and car running, steering wheel would jerk to left. I took car to local dealer for repairs. An electronic module had failed, causing progressive damage to steering column. Total cost$1199. 90. Looking online, recalls were issued for 2004-2006, 2008 and 2009 models having same issue. The warranties on these unit were extended til 10 years 150,000 miles. I have called gm and they have yet to give me a verbal response. If safety is such a huge concern of theirs, and steering is a safety issue. They should admit they have an issue, include the 2007 models and correct it.
I experienced my steering wheel lock up on several instances. I automatically started my car to go to work at 5am. When I arrived to my car to leave the wheel was tight to turn. I instantly panicked because I never experience this before. I turned the car off and restarted it was fine. It was frightening as I drove my car on the expressway over 10 miles to work. I figured maybe it was some strange glitch because it didn't happen again. Recently I have experienced this issue in the worst way. I can't park and it I so frustrating to even think how am I going to turn this car at traffic lights and corners. I believe the dealership does not want to repair it in a recall because it is quoted at a costly price. Why would they choose to put an electric power steering pump on this car? chevy was a brand I could trust. I' m not so sure about them now.
Car was purchased 12/2009. June of 2013 car was brought to Chevrolet due to a rumble in steering while turning at low speeds. Steering gear was replaced. October 2014 car was returned again to Chevrolet with same problem. Power steering pump was replaced. June 2015 car was returned again with same problem. Steering gear, pump, and all hoses were replaced. Again 6 months later the rumble has returned. Gm has stated they will no longer spend money fixing the car even though I have full warranty.
Steering was clunking and making other noises that made me question my safety. Took to dealer and had the repair done under extended 10 year/150,000 mile warranty with $49. 50 as my deductible. Car is now making same noises 18 months later. Awaiting my chevy dealer to get steering pump in stock so as to get repairs done and apply for reimbursement for initial repair due to recall.
While driving my car in town going around 25-35 mph, the steering wheel became hard to control. The on board display showed "power steering". After a while the power steering turned back on. After a few weeks of this happening the power steering only works for the first few seconds when the car is started then you can hear a "click" sound in the steering column and the power steering turns off. Took to dealer #1, advised the entire steering column needs replaced. Took to dealer ship #2, advised the power steering module needs replaced. Tried switching out the fuses for the power steering, still no good. Advised that this is an electric power steering and there is no power steering fluid or pump. Advised by gm to take to dealer ship and have it looked at. Est. Cost to fix power steering is roughly $700 out of pocket. I currently don’t have $700 to throw at my car and still drive with no power steering. Gm as recalled chevy Malibu for power steering all except the year 2007. This needs looked into as it seems that there 2007 year is having problems as well.
My daughter was driving her car and for no reason the car just shuts off. This has happened 3 times in the last weeks. The car also on 6 occasions would not start(has brand new battery) won't turn over, my daughter has been stranded several times. After a $400. 00 fuel pump replacement , which after it was replaced the car , other cars which are just shutting off while they are being driven. This is very dangerous to lose all power while driving!. And as well there have been numerous car owners who have replaced fuel pumps, which did not solve the problem. The car now has had the ignition replace as the mechanics "think:"its the security system!. To date the repairs are hitting $1,000. Also the turning signals, radio and a/c all work intermittently. I am no mechanic but seems there is electrical/security systems issues with these cars. The forums are loaded with car owners having the same issues! but of course they are so varied that most not reported to you!and we all know the garages don't report all issues! thanks for your help!.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the steering wheel became abnormally loose. The failure caused turns to be completely abnormally wide. In addition, the steering wheel seized without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic and located the failure at the power steering pump. The dealer replaced the power steering pump however, the failure was not corrected. The failure recurred later as the contact was driving 55 mph. The contact was unable to turn the wheel in either direction. The vehicle was turned off momentarily and once restarted, the power steering function had returned to normal. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure and current mileage were 130,000.
I was taking my granddaughter to school and the power steering went out as I was pulling in to the school. I turn off the car to locate the power steering pump but could not locate it. When I started the car it was fine so when I got home I found out that this is a big problem and gm is not doing anything about it. What is it going to take for somebody does something about it. I believe gm was one of the companies that was help by the government with tax payers money the same ones that are having this problem, please you need to do something about this big problem that gm is ignoring before is to late for some body or family. Thank you.
Turned steering wheel left to exit a fueling pump and the power steering went out. The panel display indicated "power steering" and an indicator on the dash had a amber color icon with a wrench. Had to use a lot of force to turn vehicle to a safe place and turned the car off. Got out and looked under the hood but could not discern any obvious problem. Turned the car back on and the problem did not reappear as driving home approx. 2 miles from service station. Concerned because of the comments seen on the internet regarding owners having similar experiences with these vehicles. Fortunately, my speed was minimal. It would be virtually impossible to control the vehicle if this happened at high speed on a highway. Gm needs to recall.
When vehicles steering wheel is turned left or right it makes a loud clicking noise like its going to break. Does not allow accurate steering while driving. The driver rear windows electic suspension wire popped and came unravelled and window drops. Fuel level range sensor does not provide accurate reading. Also, disabled fuel gauge arm in dash (fluctuates). Diagnosis ran and seems to be no issue with fuel pump. While driving the arm bar that keeps seat level and in place snapped and seat fell as vehicle was in motion (70mph on freeway). . Very scary. . Since steering column already feels like its going to fall apart.
The contact owns a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely stiff, making it difficult for the contact to steer in any direction. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who replaced the power steering pump, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 206,041 and the current mileage was 230,000.

My power steering on my 2004 Malibu maxx locks up at random times, throws the car to the left, I was getting the battery light and a ding when this would happen. I had the serpantine belt changed in March 2011 then the tensioner in June 2011. I was told that this would cure the problem, as these components are linked to the alternator and the power steering pump/motor. This problem is still happening, however now, I do not get the battery light, just a ding when the steering locks and the car veers to the left.

My mother"s 2011 chevy Malibu ltz has had a recurring problem concerning dash lights. It is quite common for us to be driving down the road and all of a sudden, there are no lights within the gauge panel or stereo face panel. Sometimes the lights will only dim, others they go out completely. On other occasions the lights don't come on at start-up and may turn on at some point, 10-15 minutes down the road. We've called the dealer the car was purchased from, starling Chevrolet-Cadillac to report these issues, only be told to bring the vehicle in "when it was happening", by the time we would get half way there, the problem stopped and the service writer says come back when it's happening. We've wondered if this could be related to the electrical issues for which Chevrolet sent out the extension of the warranty to 15 years or 120,000 miles. Another issue we've had relates to the older power steering recall. We've had the car in to starling Chevrolet twice that they have replaced the power steering pump. The problem I have concerns the un professional work of the mechanic who performed the service. While having tires replaced a couple of months after the power steering replacement, we were shown the way the starling Chevrolet mechanic had beat the devil out of the cars' under carriage. It's absolutely unforgivable for a chevy dealer to cause this kind of damage while performing a recall service!!! finally, is the first problem we incurred with starling. During the original test drive, the dealer's salesman proceeded to toss a drive-out tag in the rear of the car during which they damaged the paint. My brother tried to stop the salesman from using this tag hanger when he saw the unguarded magnet hanger, but the dealer rep wouldn't listen. It tooky a month to get the paint fixed and only then after mr. Starling got involved. The dealer changed hangers as a result!.

I drive a 2006 Malibu, and have been for the past 4 years. The standard 2006 Malibu has epsa (electronic power steering assist). There is no reservoir to fill fluid as with older models. I found out today through experience that the electric power steering locks/unlocks on its own which has created an extremely dangerous situation. As I was driving to work this morning and as I was pulling into another driveway (making a right hand turn), the steering wheel locked so that I couldn't turn, and I was inches away from hitting a pole. I am fearful of this vehicle especially since a child rides in this vehicle regularly. I am thankful that my child wasn't in the vehicle during this time. I came in to work to do some research since the mechanic confirmed there is no reservoir for the power steering fluid. No pump, no hose, nothing to top off. What I found through my research is scary and irresponsible of gm. This is a severe safety hazard and needs to be addressed by gm immediately. I am disappointed to find that gm has not recalled this vehicle nor identified and addressed this problem (or others). I have not received any mailings or notifications regarding this problem. It's outrageous that gm can legally put out a vehicle for mass production with such hazardous flaws such as the electric power steering problem (among others). After reading all the complaints and blogs about the eps system, I am convinced that the mailbu is suffering from the same symptoms as the cobalt and other vehicles identified in a 2005 (model) recall. This issue is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Chevy 2004 Malibu. Constaint warning concerning power steering, but it goes on and off and on and off. Have checked and nothing found wrong, but they do not really know. Suggest replacing elect pump, but then off the record say they would not. On line at least 100 or more people have experienced the same. Some have replaced, but warning still comes on. I do not know who to trust. I guess since chevy has no real answer I will just take my chances. This needs to be looked into more seriously.
