Ten problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brakes completely failed as my wife approached stop sign. No warning. Brake pedal went all the way to floor. Crossed very usy highway (1604) withou incident, all oncoming drives managed to stop or get out of way. Vehicle slowly came to stop and was shut off. Towed immediately to dealer. Dealer replaced abs unit under warantee with a rebuilt keysey-hays unit.
Brakes failed.
Brakes pull when applying, severe on occasions with intermittent failure at highway speeds.
Brakes failed causing a vehicle collision.
Brake problems.
Brakes failed resulting in vehicle accident.
While driving experiences vibration and shimmy in front and rear suspension, causing malfunctioning of idler/arm pitman and rear axel, upon braking vehicle pulls to extreme right, also jerks to right when braking.
When applying the brakes the vehicle will pull drastically to the right, vehicle has been taken in for service on four different occasions without a remedy.
Consumer is experiencing excessive brake wear. Has replaced the brakes three times in the past year and a half. Dealer has been contacted.
Brakes have been replaced three times, and the problem still exists, repair work, I. E. Pads, rotors, have been done. Dealer cannot duplicate the problem. Consumer states vehicle pulls to the side when brakes are applied, the pedal did not feel right from day one, on the first dealer visit the right front assembly, caliper, pads, rotors, were replaced due to being loose and pads had completely wore down and were squeaking, at 16000 miles this problem repeated itself, on 28-Sep-98 vehicle was involved in an accident, one person was injured and the driver air bag did not deploy when it should have.
