For the second time my 1999 chevy s-10 pickup has been taken to the transmission shop because I have lost second gear and reverse. This is a costly repair, the first time it cost me $1,600. 00 to replace a $44. 00 part because the whole transmission had to be overhauled. The transmission in the chevy is made with inferior parts and should be recalled to have all the gears replaced. I have also had to replace both front wheel hubs and a motor. The s1-s of this era need to be investigated and the consumer should be protected!!.

I accelerated to merge onto interstate 95 and the vehicle would not decelerate. I had to keep the brake depressed as hard as I could to keep the truck under control before I got off the highway. I feel lucky to be alive. The truck was towed to a chevy dealer, but I don't think they took it very seriously.

While traveling on the highway and without prior warning, the vehicle will lose power and shut down. Dealership is aware of the problem. Consumer states that if you have driven this vehicle until it is warmed up and or have in hot weather, and shut it off, or idle for some time, and try to start it back up, the temperature of the engine has risen and the clutch fan kicks in, if a person accelerates, the engine will lose a lot of power.

Engine quit on me going 65mph, couldn't get motor started for 45 minutes, brought into shop several times and they didn't know what was wrong so I ended up getting rid of it.
When driving in damp weather truck will just stop running, engine will not run it will turn over but will not start, if vehicle is left for a few hours it may start, after restart motor will race, speedometer will go from 0 to 80 mph heater motor will race up and down , vehicle has been taken in on numerous occasions to have electrical system checked out, but dealer was unable to find problem with electrical system, possibily engine related.

Took in for overheating, dealer replaced some parts, said it was ready, following week overheated again, dealer towed vehicle in, took apart, said it was ready to be picked up, but it was still in pieces, and they would not fix. Further contacting Chevrolet with this problem which has been on going.
Chevrolet contends problem does not exist because they cannot reproduce.
While traveling at 30mph, engine will stay at mid-idle (2500rpm) and not go down to 900rpm until completely stopped. Has caused a run-a-way engine once.
Engine dies at high rates of speed.
Countless calls to dealer and manufacture does not produce results.
Engine "kicks back".
Consumer was driving down the road in traffic and his automobile suddenly stopped/cut off and he could not restart.
When truck is in idle position the vehicle vibrates.
The issue was reported to the dealer during while getting the paint repaired on the vehicle due to acid rain. I believe I was just blown off by the service person. He sadi its normal for these trucks to do this. After reviewing the many cases in the database here it does not sound "normal" in many cases I can leave my foot off the peddle in traffic and the truck will keep going. When I pull up to park the engine will idle at about 2000 rpms for 10 seconds then return to normal. At times I must also brake to slow the vehicle when the idle hangs. Its really not a big problem to me because I used to it, but I believe it needs to be addressed. I do not want to return my vehicle due to the fact I do not know what they will tell me next. Don't blame the dealer blame chevy cause john jones was great to me.
Replaced noisy engine. Also, replaced leaking transmission/master cylinder/power steering pump. In adition, front strut failed and windshield wipers do not operate properly.
Vehicle caught on fire while driving in engine compartment.
Engine malfunction.
Engine idles at high rpms.
The engine races at 2000 and 2500 rpm's in slow traffic and parking lots, it will not begin to rev down unless vehicle comes to a complete stop (truck runs away). Nlm.
In the past year, windshield wipers have to be manually started, then they don't always work. The truck engine will just stop while your driving leaving you fighting to brake & steer.
After vehicle has been driven and then parked the engine will not turn over, even with all the power on. Dealer can't find the solution.
Engine continually failing while driving causing dangerous driving conditions, loss of steering, brakes and control of speed, unable to remedy constant failures.
Engine problems.
While driving at 55mph engine cut off, causing the steering to lock up and vehicle to flip over. Dealer has not seen vehicle.
