Chevrolet S10 owners have reported 12 problems related to rear window wiper washer motor (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The windshield wiper motor would originally not turn off when activated on intermittent, or full on. Now it shuts off by itself when activated. It did this the other day during a severe rainstorm. Other owners of s-10's that I know are reporting the same problem. It is a severe safety hazard to have your windshield wipers quit on you , in traffic or not, during a rainstorm.

During a return trip from canada it started to rain. My wipers were working fine for about 5 minutes then they stopped abruptly. I had to stop before an accident occured. I had to manually move them and they started back up. This issue has happened 5 times since( every time it has been drove in the rain). The wipers stop at random times and sometimes they will not shut off for up to 5 minutes after turning the switch off. I have parked this vehicle until I can get this safety issue resolved. I do not want to replace this part unless I know if this same issue will occur with the replacement part or not.
Windshield wiper motor failure on my 1997 Chevrolet s-10 blazer. I was informed that a recall was issued last year on s-10s for wiper motor failure, that you had to have the vehicle with less than 70,000 miles on it. I had 72,000 miles, therefore did not qualify for a recall. Since that time I have been having more and more trouble with the wipers quitting in time of rain and other times. I think gm should replace them no matter what the mileage is. It is becoming very hazardous these days, not knowing when they will work or not. Many times I have to get out of my vehicle and get under the hood and jiggle the wires to the motor, which is very annoying. I bought my vehicle new in 97 and was well pleased until this happened. I have come close to having accidents in the rain when they fail. Thank you.
