Abs module has failed I have been told by some techs that work in dealerships that this has occured in other makes and models like mine. They are telling me it will cost me 900. 00 to fix it ,meantime I have no abs brakes.

Abs module failed and caused abs valve to fail. Dealer would not contact gm to see if they would cover this failure as a defect. Abs has been disabled on the truck. I tried to contact a michelle lee who is gm's northeast rep. Whom I spoke to on another matter several times throuigh gm's 800 number to no avail.

Vehicle was parked, started engine, immediately noise from under drivers side, shift off ignition,same noise, finally removed fuse and noise stopped dealer said abs unit failed, needs replacement. Unit should be warranted but is not.

Abs brake boxes failing. Causes box to run with the ignition switch turned off. Fuse must be removed to cut power to box. When power is cut abs system no longer is in service. Boxes are not replaced at manufactures expense if vehicle is out of warranty. Cost is extremely high for consumer, $1000. 00 to $1400. 00. This problem is occurring with Chevrolet and GMC trucks equipped with abs brakes. This situation creates a fire hazard, a braking hazard and economic hardship on the consumer.

Abs motor continues to run after switch off abs system failure could have caused major accident.

Reporting abs sensor failed, causing loss of abs braking. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was out of warranty, and ther ewas no manufacturer's recall on that part. Feel free to provide any further information.

Abs unit failed. Abs light on dash illluminated. Had to remove fuse. 1st dealer said okay to remove fuse. When we took it in to the dealer we were told it was too bad we don't have the extended warranty. The abs module usually fails after the 36,000 mile warranty expires.

Abs light came on and there was a humming noise coming from underneath vehicle once abs was engaged. Consumer pulled fuse to stop the noise and it shut abs system off. Dealer would have to charge $750. Consumer went to an independent dealer. But, consumer is still experincing a problem when the brakes are applied. Vehicle slides like before. Consumer seems to think abs is faulty. The abs system had failed, and the consumer's survey indicated that thousands of consumers had been experiencing the problem.

46 Abs Brake Fail problem

Consumer was driving about 10-15 mph applied brakes and abs just pulsated, and there was no braking action. Upon inspection of vehicle consumer found out wheel bearing hub and abs were connected. When wheel bearings were worn out abs would fail. Dealer stated Chevrolet was aware of this problem. Consumer hit a barrier post due to the faulty abs brakes damaging the front end of vehicle, even though gm is aware of problem they will not pay damages, when the hub wears the antilock sensor reads falsely leading to no brakes.

The abs motor failed and needs to be replaced. The motor itself costs almost $800. More than 90% of my miles are highway miles. At my 40,000 mile brake check, the technician said I was only 30% into my original brake pads. I have heard of numerous failures of this component from other Silverado owners. This is an important safety feature of this truck and it should be recalled and repaired by the manufacturer. My brake warning system is now disabled until this abs motor is replaced.

Abs brakes failed when applied hard on uneven road surface manufacturer notified twice.

Abs failure. Abs pump continued to operate although the vehicle was turned off. Consumer was unable to restart vehicle as a result.

Total abs brake failure. It will last for a short time. While driving 15mph and approaching a stop sign abs brakes failed. No prior warning. Contacted the dealer, and he was not able to help. Dealer claimed that this happened usually when the road was bumpy or at a speed bump. But this was not the case with this vehicle.
