One problem related to steering pinion shaft has been reported for the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Intermediate shaft problem. Has been an issue since 99 model chevy/GMC trucks. The only fix they have is to remove the intermediate shaft and lube it every few thousand miles. At one time gm was replacing the shafts with a new model, however they cannot fix the problem and it keeps occurring. Not sure if the problem would lead to a possible injury situation.
