The dash on my 2009 Chevrolet Silverado has cracked around the passenger side air bag. This conserns me as if the air bag deploys this will cause pieces of the dash to injure the person it is supposed to protect. There is numerous information on the internet with people with the same problem. I took this to the Chevrolet dealer I bought the vehicle from in foley al and they refuse to do anything about it.

Hello im reporting a problem I have noticed about rust on the under bodies of the chevy and GMC pick ups. It is a widespread problem and needs to be resolved. There are too many vehicles reporting this problem to make it a coincidence. I myself have this problem where my frame has now cracked for the second time. People are complaining more and more and our safety is at stake. Please whatever can be done to bring gm to recognize this problem can and will save a lot of lives as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars. Thank you.

Dashboard has cracked in three areas at passengers airbag location and over radio and instrument cluster. Evidently this is not an isolated incident. I have two trucks in this condition and the internet suggests that there are thousands across the nation. Estimate to repair 1000. 00 each!.

While driving down the highway, heard a noise and then noticed the dash above the airbag had developed an obvious crack that is approximately 1 inch long. Upon closer inspection of the dash, noticed that there is also a hairline crack in the dash above the airbag approximately 4 inches to the right of the first noticed crack.

I noticed when I got into my vehicle that there was a crack on the passenger side dash, right above the airbag. This can't be safe! if the airbag were to deploy, then what is to stop the rest of the dash to explode apart like shrapnel causing injury to some in the vehicle. I am afraid for my passengers safety! about a week later found another crack on the driver's side of the dash. I have done some research and there are hundreds of others who have experienced the same problems! also, their pictures posted on social media show the cracks are in the same locations as that of my dash. Had to add coolant over a time. . . . . No evidence of a leak on my driveway or any other place. Started truck one morning and heard clicking noise coming from engine. I observed water coming from the muffler. Tooked vehicle to dealer on April 22, 2014. ( mileage 84241) dealer found blown head gasket and seals, 0ne cracked head and water in oil. Repairs done: complete valve job (replace head gasket, seals & other associated parts), replace broken bolts, replace coolant hoses, radiator & heater hoses and thermostat etc. . Was not advised by service consultant of any recalls or bulletins for 2005 Silverado. This is low mileage for this kind of engine problem. Dashboard is cracked. Truck is always parked in the garage. This is unacceptable.

Noticed a crack on dashboard next to the upper left corner of the passenger side airbag. A few weeks later noticed another crack in the dashboard next to the lower left corner of the passenger side airbag. My concern that if the airbag deploys it could be punctured by the sharp edges of one of these cracks. Would like it replaced at no cost to me due to faulty design.

Dash board is cracking by air bag and continues to crack above instrument cluster. Concerned about shrapnel if air bag where to deploy causing more injury.

The dashboard on my 2007 (new body style) chevy Silverado LS, 4. 3l has cracked, randomly, right above the passenger air bag. There was nothing to cause this crack, it just appeared. After doing some research, many other gm owners, ranging from Silverados to tahoes to escaldes, also have cracks in their dash, in the same spot, some worse than others. My main concern is it cracking more, and also if the passenger airbag were to deploy, the possibility of the dash breaking apart and possibly throwing shards of plastic at me or passenger. Not only is the safety an issue, but the appearance is an issue, since its a rather large crack, it looks unsightly. Thanks for your time, hopefully something can be done about this popular defect that hasnt been addressed by gm yet.

My truck dash stated cracking in 2012 and just keep cracking all over ,now I have spoke to my gm dealer and she says there nothing they can do . But if a airbag was to deploy at over 200mph the dash will come flying with it now I am not the only person having this issue I no this is a safety hazard because I was a fire fighter for 17 years and no the dangers of flying objects . I just think if the lemon law say if the same thing brake more then three time the law covers it but should I have to replace my dash 3 time to get them to fix what is to be a big problem for me and other gm customers?.

Several cracks in my dash (4-5). One is at the corner of the passenger airbag. The dash is so brittle it cracks from just closing the door. I'm afraid what might happen if I'm in an accident and broken dash pieces go flying throughout the cab. This is no doubt a safety concern! not to mention an eye sore and resale killer. This started a few years ago and continues to get worse.

Dashboard cracks in three different locations. As known by many other owners in the same locations. I am afraid if involved in an accident the airbags would cause dashboard to come apart flying into the cabin causing bodily injury to passengers.

2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Consumer states spare tire fell out and flew 20 feet in the air the consumer stated upon retrieving the tire, he discovered that the mounting bracket had severed, which caused the tire to fall off. The consumer set up an appointment to have the problem diagnosed. The official diagnoses was that the spare tire was installed backwards therefore causing the mount to sever. The consumer stated he had not touched the spare tire since he purchased the vehicle.

My chevy truck is a c1500. I also have a crack in the dash above my passenger side air bag on the dash. I noticed it when my truck only had 10,000 miles on it. It's not from the sun because my truck stays in the garage. It seems there are many of us that has this issue.

Multiple failures of Chevrolet oem hitch receivers, I am employed as an aviation safety inspector for the houston texas flight standards district office. My hitch is in the process of failing after towing a pop-up trailer less than 100 miles, it was used well within the limits of the hitch and my 2006 Silverado has approx. 600 miles on it. After reading on several web forums about gm hitch receiver problems, I checked mine and was shocked that all but one weld on my receiver showed signs of rusting. Two were to the point where cracked welds were obvious. The dealer offered to replace it but I did not want a gm hitch so I used another receiver at my expense. I had towed a 7700 pound trailer about 20,000 miles max. Hitch has been disposed of. I have some photos (not very good). It is a 2004 chev, 2500hd, diesel.

I own a 2004 chevy Silverado 2500hd. On 11 Feb 2005 I noticed some rust on my trailer hitch. I inspected it and found that there is rust around the welds, and that one of the welds is completely cracked. I went to the dealer and was told that the only fix is to re-weld it. I told them that I did not want it welded, I wanted it replaced. This is a warranty item. I feel that if the original robotic welds were not holding, then why weaken the metal more by heating it up again and re-welding it. I expressed my concern that if the hitch was re-welded, and it failed while I was towing and caused a serious accident who would take responsibility. No answer on that question. I have researched on the internet and found that there are several people that have had this problem, and just replaced it with an after market hitch. I have also seen the pictures of a serious accident caused by a gm hitch failure. As of right now, I do not have a solution to this problem other than the dealership will not replace this gm installed, under warranty hitch. The dealership wants to re-weld it. I think this can be a serious safety issue due to the fact that most people do not take the time to inspect there trailer hitches, and just hook up and take there family out for a weekend trip pulling there travel trailers. I will continue to try and work with gm and the dealership to get this problem solved.

Device used to lower the spare tire so it can be removed has a design flaw, making it impossible to operate. Contacted dealer.

The consumer stated that the factory installed trailer hitch has cracked and hitch wilds have separated. The gm service manger denied any cracking after inspecting the hitch.

The spare tire winch cable broke causing a serious accident behind the vehicle. I believe this is a common occurece with many makes and models of vehicles. Though this problem may not be reported often, I think it is a very common incident that needs to be investigated.

Consumer was driving north on 495 and he noticed some noises. He looked and saw spare tire flying down the road. Consumer avoided hitting two trucks .

The cable to the spare tire had snapped, and the spare tire was missing. Dealer replaced the cable.

Consumer believes there is excessive movement allowed of the factory installed hitch reciever which may cause premature fatigue anf cracking.
