Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System Problems of Chevrolet Silverado

Chevrolet Silverado owners have reported 5 problems related to other fuel system fuel injection system (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 06/19/2014

The truck has 110k miles on the duramax / allison drive train. The diesel fuel injection pump failed unexpectedly and without warning. This powertrain combination should be capable of 500k miles without problems like this. This pump should not fail after normal use in only 110k miles. Nothing but excuses and other not possible reasons for the poor engineering and manufacturing exhibited in their product. They said the methanol water injection system caused the fuel injection pump to fail. Metanol (non caustic fluid) is injected air side of the engine and does not mix with the injected fuel until the engine cylinder. The fuel injection pump supplies fuel to the individual injectors that then in turn supplies the high pressure fuel to the cylinders. If this condition was to happen on the road pulling a trailer / heavy load in hills or other confined roadways people could be injured or killed by the sudden loss of power and control. Gm business practices are going to continue to kill and hurt people.

2 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/17/2007

Injectors went out at 199,727 miles. Dealer replaced with same type injectors, not an upgrade to the faulty ones gm installed, so, now there is no warranty on these and I will be out $4,000 down the road.

3 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/31/2003

2002 Chevrolet 2500hd duramax fuel injector failure. Seems to be associated with leaking at 'test port' on injectors. Appears to be a global problem with this engine. Occurs at around 50-70,000 miles. Chevrolet will not answer as to whether they plan a recall or not. When the injectors leak, the diesel fuel enters the engine block, causing loss of oil pressure, loss of fuel mileage, oil leaks, loss of power, and significant amounts of diesel fuel leakage. Chevrolet has these parts back ordered as a result of the magnitude of the problem.

4 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/08/2003

Duramax fuel injector failure. Dealer replaced 10 injectors so far, three separate failures. Service tells me this is so common, almost every 2003 diesel they have sold has been in. Truck has been shop for a total of 28 days, so far.
