1 Power Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2020

My transmission failed and I couldn't go over 40mph. The truck would jump and bounce and make loud screeching noises. At first I thought it was all the transmission. I asked a family friend who is a mechanic and he diagnosed it. He concluded that the transmission wasn't the only problem. The motor was having difficulties changing from v8-v4 also. I have been told by many people that I need to get a tuner to delete the computer program that changes the amount of cylinders firing. I have also seen/heard trucks that go without the delete too long. Also, my power steering will fail at low speeds while turning. Gm fails to see that my truck has this issue. Saying it doesn't affect my VIN.

2 Power Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2019

While driving my truck, the power steering failed, and a service power steering warning came on the dash. I called my local dealership, and they said they couldn't get me in to look at the truck until Friday (3 days). I called chevy customer service and they said there is no recall, but I found a recall 17276 that covers this exact issue. The power steering kicked back on and almost caused a head on collision as the truck swirved when the system reengaged.

3 Power Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2019

My 2014 chevy silverado suffers from the same loss of power steering issue gm just issued a recall for in sept. Of 2018 for the 2015 model of the silverado. When attempting to park or performing low speed turns the power steering with fail making it incredibly difficult to safely control the vehicle. When on the highway using cruise control, the cruise control had failed without warning and the steering locks up for a moment when this happens. This is a serious safety issue affecting more vehicles than just the 2015 models, and the recall should be expanded to include all affected year models. This issue happens intermittently without warning, and occurs multiple times a week. I purchased this vehicle in Dec of 2017, and the issue has been present since my ownership.

4 Power Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2019

This vehicle has had a previous recall for power steering failure at low speeds due to voltage issues. The recall and software update was performed in September of 2017. I have recently been experiencing the same symptoms from the previous recall. I have noticed when driving at low speeds I will temporarily loose power steering. This has happened approximately 5 times in the last month. It usually occurs when I am in a parking lot, pulling into a parking space, at low speeds 5-10 mph, and when I am turning. The power steering stops working for a second or so and then comes right back. I have also noticed while traveling on the highway or interstate my headlights flickering as if there is a low voltage issue. The voltage meter has been in the normal operating range, and I have had no warning lights or alarms when these incidents have occurred. Most recent incident occurred today 4/30/19 when pulling into a parking space at a local restaurant.

5 Power Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving or reversing at 5 to 10 mph, the brake pedal failed to depress. The failure made it difficult to stop the vehicle. There was also a loss of power steering ability at the same low speeds. The failures occurred intermittently. The dealer (chelsea Chevrolet Buick, 2038 mckernan dr, chelsea, mi 48118, (734) 475-8663) stated that they knew about the failures, but there was no recall. The dealer stated that they could help with the power steering failure since it could still be covered by the warranty. The manufacturer suggested that the contact take the vehicle to the dealer to be evaluated. The failure mileage was 70,000.

6 Power Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2018

When turning into parking lot today at low speed, electrical system went crazy, screen flashed power steering failure, stabilitrac failure, doors locked and unlocked and engine died. Restarted and was fine driving forward and repeated failures again when turning to park in parking space. It is fortunate this was in a parking lot and not on interstate or other main road or while turning at a traffic light. There was a recall in fall of 2017 for power steering that was repaired at dealership upon notification. When I contacted the dealership, the service department supervisor advised it sounded as if there was a poor connection of a battery cable. The battery was replaced just a few months ago. It seems to me that if a it's a battery cable connection issue, then gm has another safety problem they need to address since I've read numerous other complaints with the exact same issues, and in my opinion, there must be a manufacturer defect if battery cables just come loose for no apparent reason. This needs to be fixed before someone is very seriously injured or killed as a result of this dangerous condition. Gm seems to be aware of the other reported issues and has taken no measures to correct it. Maybe all of us who own their vehicles should file a class action lawsuit and they might get off their a$$ES and do something! I certainly won't hesitate to file a civil complaint for product liability if a family member is hurt as a result of their continued negligence.
