Power steering on vehicle intermittently stops working. Vehicle becomes difficult to steer at low speeds. Even when vehicle is moving turning is extremely challenging.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway, the steering wheel became difficult to turn to the left or the right. The contact stated that the messages "drive with care" and "power steering fault" were displayed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the local dealer but had asked an independent mechanic to the residence to scan the vehicle. The mechanic advised the contact that there were several codes for electrical circuit failures retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
Electric power steering failure due to tie rod bellows failure, this is an incredibly dangerous and irresponsible engineering design, moisture entered the electric motor causing it to fail, my wife's failed at highway speeds and almost caused a wreck, she could have been killed, if I could afford to sue I would, our other vehicle is down and we are forced to drive this dangerous vehicle putting us and others in harms way, this is terrible and absurd.
When turning the power steering gave out and made the truck completely lose power while going and turning at a slow speed.
Twice know I have had the truck shutdown when turning to the left at slow speed . Took the truck to a maint shop and they had three codes in the computer but nothing they could fix so they cleared the codes and said to drive it and if it happens again to bring it in and they'll see what they can find out ,but my have to go to agm service center to have it checked . So I'm drive carefully and hope not to have a accident.
Driving down the road and turning into my driveway, the power steering went out, the truck cut off - then after a few minutes, the truck started, then the display showed “open then close driver window” & now displays “service power steering, drive with care”.
Noticeable at night. Headlights on, turn signal on, foot on brake slowing down, making a turn, 1) headlights flicker, 2) headlights flicker and complete dash goes black, or 3) all of #2 and steering goes stiff. Has been happening more often. Last time, during the day, turning against oncoming traffic and engine shutdown, started again, shutdown and started, again with dash going black and steering went stiff. When the engine stops and restarts, it does it on its own. I don’t need to turn the ignition key. Very unnerving. My wife won’t drive the truck. Safety at risk is a “yes”. I have noticed when this all happens, the traction control wording comes on the dash and a bell rings. All this has been happening over the last six months. Vehicle only has 94k miles on it.
For almost 8 months, the electrical system experiences complete malfuncation. First it was stabilitrac lighting up, the steering wheel would jerk out of my hands. To issue to mechanic where ground wire under passenger side was cleaned and re-installed. This seemed only a temporary fix. As of today, the 2014 Silverado 1500 lt is experiencing flickering dash lights, surging and dropping voltage (battery/alternator tested at normal driving levels), flickering healights. The worst of the situation is complete electrical malfuncation causing the truck to shut down while driving. This has happened twice in the last 2 weeks. It occurs when the vehicle comes to a stop, then when I try to turn, the voltage drops, dash flickers and the truck shuts down as I try to accelerate into a turn.
While driving the vehicle the truck will lose all power steering. It sometimes works and sometimes doesnt work.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle became difficult to maneuver and failed to return to normal operation. The contact stated that the center information display intermittently lost electrical power. No warning light was illuminated. The contact research the failure and became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 14v246000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was drivable and was taken to the place of residence. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.
I was merging on to the expressway and my truck kept going to the left into traffic towards a concrete median. I turned my wheel to the right to try to avoid it and started to spin out and went back to the right side of the expressway which was four lanes wide and slammed into the guardrail. After the wreck I noticed my abs light was on I’m not sure if it came on as I was merging onto the expressway.
Electronic power steering assist malfunction and failure. The power steering went out as I was driving with my girlfriend in the truck and it has been stuck on the side of the road in ocean city new jersey. The problem was confirmed by millevois auto repair in ocean city. There was no warning. It says the recall was serviced before hand but it is obviously still failing. I don’t have the money to pay the $3000 to get it fixed and towed on my own for something that was a manufacturing issue. Please help me. Please have the recall fixed.
I am having issues with the steering. I keep getting a message about the stabilitrak on my truck and when I drive it the power steering just stops and I have to gain control of my truck. I would think that this should be a safety recall. Please assist with looking into this for me please.
Was driving on the freeway at about 65 mph and electric power steering went out causing me not to have control of the vehicle. Was having a extremely difficult time maneuvering the vehicle out of traffic without hitting anyone.
On March 15, 2024 my 2014 Chevrolet silverado lt pickup while I was driving the steering suddenly got hard to steer then the engine shut off , I had very little brakes and steering, then it wouldnt start back after I got stopped. Thank goodness I didnt hit anyone, after a few minutes it started and I carefully drove home, it was fine until may 09, 2024 I was going to a dr appointment and when I turned in the drive the steering got really hard and the engine almost died and when I turned it off it wouldnt start back all power was dead after I tried it several times it finally started but the stereo and dash lights were not working correct,I contacted gm and they told me that my truck had been recalled for this problem and they reset the computer module but thats all they were going to do. This didnt fix it and I want them to fix my truck because this is a very serious problem and could cause me to wreak and possibly kill someone or myself. Please help me with this matter to get gm to fix it.
Stabil track and steering assist reduced warning lights go off while using turn signal. Power steering, cruise control intermittently shut off causing jerking steering wheel and inability to steer. Using break and turn signal intermittently shuts off motor.
Power steering is going out then comes back every so often. It tells me service power steering drove with care. I have had it checked and they shops computer won’t let them into the power steering window. The engine is reading no codes, however power steering continues to go in and out. I seen a recall on some of the year models but it says mine is not. However I am having that exact problem.

Driving down the road lost power assisted power steering causing the the steering wheel to just turn and wheels stayed straight.
Steering assist disabled comes on while driving and steering locks up and shuts everything off,and then starts back. Very very dangerous on the road not knowing where or when you're not in control of the vehicle. When this occurs engine stops,no brakes.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired at the dealer under NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v414000 (steering), 19v761000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control), and 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the failure occurred after the recall repairs were performed. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist and then lost motive power. The trailer brake system, traction control, stabili-trak, tpms, and brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 197,154.
While driving power steering went out and then eventually came back. Would happen periodically while driving, very inconsistent but put me in dangerous situations s while driving.
Dash lights started flickering for multiple seconds, losing control of steering almost crashed into oncoming traffic. Park assist light warning as well. Light for park assist was off. Was in town, whipped it into the gas station best I could. Shut it off. Filled up. Restarted, everything “normal” again.
Power steering went out while driving .

My power steering intermittently stops working while driving and turning. I did some research online and saw that this year make and model vehicle has an open recall for this exact problem although when I called gm recall they said my vehicle was not on the recall list. I would like to be added to the recall list so I don't get in an accident that could've been avoided.
No power steering.

Vehicle will start flashing stability control and starts jerking from passenger side. Along with vehicle randomly shutting off while traveling and turning back on with steering wheel slanted (wheels not aligned) and saying “ power steering reduced, drive with care”.
In a slow speed left hand turn, the vehicle shut down and power steering assist stopped working. It left me in the middle of the road on a busy thoroughfare. It has happened before. Sometimes the vehicle does not shut off, but will temporarly loose power steering, meaning you have apply the brakes and stop wherever you are: parking lot, highway, interstate. Records show that a recall, (n172085440), was issued for this problem and that a repair was completed 6/29/2017, approximately 2 months before I bought the vehicle. It is very scary to get stranded in the middle of a busy intersection! our safety was certainly put at risk!.
While driving I activated my blinker and all the interior lights began blinking and the radio cut out. While I was making the turn the electronic power steering cut out and then came back on. A short while later I was driving at a low speed in a parking lot and the truck shut off without warning. Had I been going at highway speeds this would have been extremely dangerous.

Stabilitrack shuts the truck off while driving.
