1 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/11/2013

Selected adaptive equipment and suspension and body because there is no place to add tailgate and that is where he problem is - geez - that part makes no senese at all. Tailgate lock on riders side of vehicle does not engage properly. It has been replaced once and greased once at butch ostelete in pascagoula, ms. I called about repair but the person on the phone said they would have to charge me to repair it. The problem is you have to stick your finger in the lock pin and slide it upward to make it engage when the tailgate is closed. This has been on going since I have on the vehicle. It is a defect that could cause someone (like me) to injure their finger in the lock or jolt a persons wrist and elbows (like me) and cause harm. This defect needs to be called to gm attention and have these issues repaired.

2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/25/2013

Stopped to get gas. As I was pulling out the lot, brakes went to the floor. Tried to pump brakes to pressurize. I decided to pull over. As I was turning off road to investigate I heard a loud pop. Check brake light and audible came on. Pulled over immediately only to discover brake line had ruptured. Further investigation revealed all brake line tubings were severely corroded. Chevy had finally made wise decision to go stainless steel for exhaust system. Puzzling why they did not make same decision for the brake lines. Brake system is critical safety item that should mandate highest safety measures. Not the exhaust system! I was fortunate failure did not occur on the highway. I was able to tow the vehicle to dealer for repair. While pulling into parking stall at the dealer, I heard another loud pop. And even though my foot was on brakes, the truck began to accelerate. I had to put the truck in park to stop. It appear there was just enough stopping power to get off the road. Must advise anyone who experience this not to attempt to drive home! no matter how close. I was considering this option. Good thing my good sense prevailed.

3 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

(*affected part - it doesn't let me to type ipc - instrument panel cluster) fuel needle is not operating - completely. Battery voltage needle - is not operating - completely. Speedometer is sticking. Lights at dashboard are dim, takes couple minutes to get back to normal. Gm is aware of defective product (ipc - instrument panel cluster) that was installed on all 2003 and 2004 chevy silverado, but is refusing to correct a problem. They issued only short term "special coverage", which expired in 04/2010, without even notifying all of owners about defect, so - god forbid - they won't go to dealership and have it replaced at that time. It's a serious safety issue, and gm should be responsible for correcting it. I am driving not knowing how much gasoline is in my tank, is my battery voltage ok or really has problem, what is my speed and if it complies with speed limit, and at night I even don't see dashboard info. Gm says - "it's your problem, not our. Take care of it on your own". I purchased vehicle in good faith that all parts are in good working condition. In reality that was not a case. Gm installed defective parts on their vehicle and should carry full responsibility for replacing them with good ones.

5 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/08/2011

I was backing my truck up to park it in my yard, and the brake pedel went to the floor. When took a look at to what caused this to happen, I found a hole in my left rear brake line under a wire harness that was routed over the brake line. The line was badly rusted. The routing was incorrect to keep from wearing a hole in the line. I think this was done at the factory causes I have never messed with the wire harness, it has always been there.

6 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

I have a 2007 silverado. . . I noticed back in 2010 that the dash was cracked at the air bag area above the glove compartment but after doing some research it seems this is a common problem among these new body style years. 2014. . . My dealer offered me a repair discount of 20% which I thought was absurd !!!.

7 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/31/2010

Have owned my 2002 chevy silverado since new. I have never gotten a flat tire with this truck until a couple of weeks ago. I got a flat tire on memorial day on a four lane highway (rt-1). I was in an odd spot to move farther from the traffic lane and I could not get the truck high enough with the factory jack that was provided. I figured it was because of the uneven ground I was on. About a week later I had a blow out with the same tire in a parking garage (nice level flat concrete surface). I have been a mechanic in about 1975. Hold my PA state inspection license and was a ase certified mechanic. The supplied jack with the same factory size tires will not get the vehicle high enough to change the tires. I tried the factory recommended spots and couple of others. How could gm put people in a position like this? somebody could get killed trying to use this equipment.

8 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/07/2009

While pulling onto i83 I pushed down on the gas pedal to quickly accelerate to merge. The pedal became stuck on the floor mat sticking it in the down position causing the truck to rapidly accelerate after I left my foot off the gas pedal. I had to use my feet to pull the floor mat back towards the seat to release the gas pedal. This has happened several times over the last few years, most recently November 20, 2012.
