Had a vehicle update for my 2023 Chevrolet silverado and now my onstar module is toast and no longer under warranty bc I have 37,000 miles. Many reports of this happening to 2023 models but no recalls for this. Why should I have to pay $1000. 00 for a part that is failing in many vehicles of the same year.

Suddenly my vehicle would not allow me to shift into different gears and was stuck in drive gear. The shift selector does not allow me to change gears even though it has the same resistance on the shift selector lever. In order to allow the vehicle to shift gears, I had to go under the vehicle to manually switch gears by pulling the transmission selector located under the vehicle. Each time I drive my truck I have to go under my vehicle and manually pull the transmission selector to change gears out of drive.

The special coverage program on the coolant valve for my 2021 chevy silverado (70,000mi) is not covered due to my VIN not being on the list. Something they say and know is an issue, but not covering it for the vehicles they say they’re covering it for.

A very bad ticking noise from the engine. Since I purchased this vehicle, all maintenance and any recall repairs have been completed by the dealership. I first thought that when the oil was changed they did not change the oil filter. Then after a diagnosis of possible lifters in the engine, I did a little research and it appears that chevy knew this problem existed in 2016 and continued to allow the production of the vehicle through 2018 when the issue was fixed. Why do I as a senior citizen on a low income have to pay for an issue that Chevrolet knew about but continued production of that vehicle with that issue still not resolved. I do not have up to $10,000 to complete that repair and cannot drive the vehicle knowing it has this problem and it could potentially create a bigger problem from driving it.

The frame of my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has rusted through to the point of failing maine state safety inspection at only 41,000 miles. A licensed maine inspection station identified structural frame corrosion and determined the vehicle is unsafe to operate. A Chevrolet dealer confirmed the frame rust and stated the truck must have rusted sections cut out and welded to be made roadworthy. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: a rusted-through frame on a pickup truck is a serious structural defect. Frame failure while driving could cause loss of vehicle control, separation of suspension or drivetrain components, or catastrophic structural collapse, particularly at highway speeds or under load. The vehicle is currently unregisterable in maine due to this safety failure. The failure has been confirmed by both an independent licensed inspection station and by a Chevrolet dealership service department. This failure is consistent with a known manufacturing defect documented in gm technical service bulletin 19-na-255, which acknowledges that the wax coating applied to the frames of 2011–2024 silverado and sierra trucks was improperly applied by a third-party frame supplier, causing the coating to peel and exposing bare steel to premature corrosion. Gm has issued this TSB but has not issued a recall, and Chevrolet dealers are not consistently performing the repair. I contacted gm customer assistance to request goodwill repair and was refused; the representative also declined to open a case. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages prior to discovery, as frame corrosion is not monitored by vehicle systems. The defect was identified visually during state safety inspection. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect pattern and consider a recall, as was ultimately ordered for the similar frame corrosion defect on Toyota tacoma trucks.

No owner manual, etc. Supplied. No safety information supplied. No maintenance information supplied. Dealer never mentioned when bought new vehicle on 4/22/2026. Went back next day and chevy does not supply any manuals. I could buy one for $100. If they were available. No car seat info or child restraint info. Nothing. Did chat with gm customer service, no positive results. Asked about recall n252540430. On owner manual being supplied. Dealer and customer service know nothing about it. I can look on phone, computer, or other digital ways to find info. Or sit in my car and use a tank of gas+ trying to find info on vehicle computer, if it is even there?.
Onstar isnt working the clock wont stay on time the telematics control module went out on a brand new truck just past the 36,000 mile warranty.
Automatic sliding back glass exploded while sitting in the yard. This could have injured passengers in the rear seat. Dealer said no recall is present. Repair is out of pocket. Vehicle has not been inspected. No warning signs or messages or other symptoms prior to the incident of back glass exploding.

I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my 2024 Chevrolet silverado that resulted in a child being locked inside the vehicle with the key fob present inside the car. On March 25 2026, after parking and turning off the vehicle, I exited the driver’s seat with my key fob inside my purse, which remained in the front of the vehicle. I then walked around to remove my daughter from the back seat. During that time, she climbed into the front seat and pressed the interior door lock button, locking all doors. My daughter has autism and is not able to follow instructions or unlock the vehicle on command. As a result, she was locked inside the vehicle with the key fob present inside, and I was unable to gain access from the outside. The vehicle did not prevent the lock from engaging, nor did it allow me to open the door despite the key being inside the vehicle. This situation required emergency assistance (911) to safely remove her from the vehicle. I understand that many vehicles have “lockout prevention” features; however, in this case, the system did not account for a vulnerable occupant inside the vehicle. Allowing the vehicle to be locked from the interior while the key fob is inside—and without any external override—creates a significant child safety risk. I am requesting that Chevrolet review this design behavior as a potential safety issue, specifically: - why the vehicle allows interior locking when a key fob is detected inside - why there is no external override to unlock the vehicle when the key is present - whether a software update or safety feature enhancement can address this risk this is not just a convenience issue—it is a safety hazard that can lead to dangerous outcomes, especially for children or individuals with disabilities. Please confirm receipt of this concern and advise whether this issue has been previously identified or is under review.

Oil cooler lines are leaking oil. A known gm issue with many owner complaints online. Transmission issues. Motor issues. Electrical issues. Brake issues. These particular trucks have many issues and nobody is taking responsibility for the issues.
The tailgate is clicking continuously and dropping at random moments when I’m stationary as well as driving. It is draining the battery and leaving me stranded with zero power or resources for help.

The def guage does not work properly. After topping off with def the guage would not register being full. Also the guage would read over half full and within minutes I would receive a notification that the truck was going into limp mode due to be out of def. Happened several time while on a trip. Also truck went into limp mode while def was full.
Throttle body?/ accelerator pedal sensor?.
I brought my vehicle to the dealership on March 7, 2026, to address the outstanding safety recall. However, I was informed that the recall repair cannot be completed until I first pay $1,100 to replace the idler pulley. Unfortunately, an unexpected $1,100 expense is not currently in my budget. It is quite concerning to continue driving a vehicle with a known risk of losing propulsion, as the increased risk of a crash is a significant safety worry for me. I would appreciate any assistance or alternative solutions you can provide to ensure this safety recall is resolved. Please find the message from the dealership: additional diagnostic recommendations: we are going to want to get the idler pulley replaced 1st as it can cause unwanted noise and vibration during the testing with the pico scope. After the repair take the vehicle on a good test drive get it good and warm then retest the engine with the pico scope and proceed with those test results. We still want to make sure it is tested correctly if the engine passes just note under special coverage n252494003 this special coverage covers if an engine failure occurs in the vehicle as a result of the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. ".
One of the factory solder joints on the air conditioning condenser failed causing the refrigerant to leak out of the air conditioning system rendering the air conditioning notn functional. This is a safety issue because without functioning air conditioning the windshield defogger is ineffective and visibility is drastically reduced. This is a known issue with 2017 through 2018 chevy silverado and GMC sierra trucks. The problem has not been diagnosed by a dealer as I confirmed the diagnosis myself. There were no warning lights when the failure occurred. The only indication of the failure was the loss of effectiveness of the windshield defogger. This failure first occurred on 3/6/26 with 58,485 miles on the vehicle. I am the only one who has inspected the vehicle and it is available for third party inspection upon request.
Soon after purchase, onstar stopped working. Took to dealership and they started onstar module bad. They also started that it may be months or years as part is back ordered for an issue gm has known about since 2024.

Engine oil cooler line leaks and crimping does not hold hose tight enough and slipped off crimp fitting. Line came completely off of crimp fitting and leaked all engine oil. Forced engine to be turned off and low engine oil marked on dash.
Component: faulty coolant control valve causing reduced acceleration and check engine light to come on. Fan is constantly on when reduced acceleration is displayed. Safety: can overheat, reduced acceleration can cause an accident. Problem reproduced: dealer did check and confirm codes and errors. Dealer confirmed item failed. Coolant control valve needs to be replaced.
The truck is jumpy during stops. I get a low voltage code but the battery is fine I had it checked out. Reduced acceleration has been activated and after I turn the truck off it is fine. The check engine light comes on and turns off on it's on sometimes same day. I know there is a recall on certain 2022 silverados but they told me this one wasn't on the recall. It did have one for the brake system they said.
The onstar module goes bad I have a 2022 with 60,000miles and they won't replace it and want to charge me $1,000 on a $80,000 truck. I'm not the only one I've seen multiple people with gm vehicles with the same exact issue. The people with super cruise (car drives itself) it will cause it to stop working. Not even the clock will work because onstar controls updating it I can't even connect to wifi to have it fixed. If I manually set the time the next week it is 5 min behind the next 10 and within a month it's 20 mins behind. I'm pretty sure the sos button won't work either.
Rear power sliding window shattered after remote vehicle ignition was started in cold weather last month. It blew outward. There was a recall for this issue, but my VIN # was not included despite it being a 2017 chevy silverado. The recall number n192265660 why was my VIN # not included? I am working to now get repaired by chevy dealership. But questioning its exclusion from recall.
The tailgate has opened 4 times while I’ve been driving. There was one incident in which an object in the truck bed fell out onto the road. Other drivers are at risk for serious injury or death due to objects falling out. I have read other incidents of this happening online to the Silverado 1500 models however chevy has only issued recalls for the 2500 and 3500 models. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer and they will be inspecting it in the next coming days. There were no warning lamps or messages indicating failure or that my tailgate was open. I’ve provided photo documentation showing me closing the tailgate as well as a photo of the object falling onto the road.
The rear window did not stop when a child's hand was in the closing space. The [xxx] old's hand was caught, causing injury and pain. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Warranty issue the p1098 code.
Fuel tank and def tank issues that throws error codes that will make your engine go into slump mode.
The automatic shifting gear is not shifting the vehicle won't speed up.
0 audio works in the truck. No audible turn signals, warning chimes, phone calls, onstar. . . Nothing.
P1098 engine coolant control valve engine light comes on and truck says reduced power. Then went off. Back on again.
While driving the vehicle the passenger side of my rear window shattered due to the rear defroster circuit overheating. I brought the vehicle into my local Chevrolet cerified dealership to examine - they stated that my VIN number is not included in the wide spread recall affecting over 150k vehicles having the same exact issue. I did call gm and she told me how the recall could only be specific to vehicles manufactured at certain locations, or many other factors could lead to my truck not being covered. My vehicle has the power sliding center window - I have researched and have seen a ton of vehicles with this same rear window have the exact same issue as I did. Even the same side breaks. I don't understand how mine is not covered under the recall so many others are. This currently has not been fixed - I am concerned that the same issue will occur even after getting it fixed. I feel it should be not only covered under the recall, but the faulty part causing the issue should be replaced just as it has been with all the covered vehicles. I am asking for this to be reviewed further and expanding the vehicles covered under this recall. It is a very unsafe problem that can cause fire and injury. I don't know how bad this could have been if someone were sitting in the back seat when this happened.
In michigan- stopped for lunch - used remote start as always when it’s cold. Came out and got back on the road and about ten minutes later a loud bang and the back window shattered. A quick google said it’s a known problem on this model with the power sliding window due to the rear defrost and there’s a recall for canada and 10 us states but illinois isn’t covered. Hard to understand when it’s the same part number. Gm customer service rep also stated they won’t cover it when we called the corporate office. If we’d been alerted we would’ve disabled the rear defrost long ago. Frightening to know it’s a fire hazard and what if we’d had children in the back.

Brakes lock up on vehicle while driving must turn vehicle off and restart several times to disengage brakes. This has happened twice in the last 8 weeks, very concerning as we cannot use our travel trailer as we do not trust this not reoccurring. Chevy dealership says there is a recall on this issue but not on my truck?. But they say it is that problem.

The tailgate release switch is randomly operating, allowing the tailgate to drop. This has happened at highway speeds (from 55 to 75) and also while in park. I've had to pull over on multiple occasions to close the tailgate. This could allow items to fall out the back of my truck and possible strike other vehicles and their passengers at speed. The dealership has reported it can also drain the battery, which can jeopardize my safety as I am often in the backcountry in very cold temperatures and could be stranded. (has not happened to me as of yet) this is a known issue that other Chevrolet 1500 trucks have been recalled for (in canada) and other models of the silverado in the us. My dealership (fox negaunee) stated that they have received numerous complaints on this issue but no recall has been issued for my vehicle yet. I have spoken with the dealership over the phone, but I have not brought it in until further information on a recall may become available. There are no warning lights that appear. This started happening about a month ago, and has continued since then.
A recurring malfunction occurs with the infotainment/radio and rear backup camera display. The rear backup camera view remains stuck on while driving forward in drive at speeds over 20 mph, including highway speeds. The system also cycles between screens (including switching to the camera view), and the infotainment freezes and becomes unresponsive (loss of screen/control). Audio playback and hands-free calls become staticky/distorted. These events create a serious driver distraction and safety risk while driving. This has occurred multiple times, including during long-distance driving, and has been significant enough that I have had to pull over to the side of the road multiple times. In multiple incidents, the system did not recover until I pulled a fuse to reset/shut down the system so I could continue driving safely. The unit remains powered on after the vehicle is turned off and exited. There is also a history of battery drain/no-start events requiring jump starts. No warning lights or warning messages are displayed before or during the failure; the system becomes unresponsive and behaves unpredictably. The problem is intermittent and has occurred multiple times over the life of the vehicle, including after a head unit replacement. Dealers have documented the concern on repair orders; during the most recent visit the dealer noted no diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) stored.
Noticed when pressing tailgate release button manually it would not open but would if fob used. However tailgate opens continuously on its own.
On 1/24/26 I used the remote starter to warm up the truck and it started but within 3 minutes it shut off. The temperature was in the single digits. So I tried the remote again and it wouldn’t start. And the remote start hasn’t worked since and the check engine light is on. Two years ago when the brake module failed right before that recall the temperature was very cold that day too. Just two months ago the check engine light came on and that time the dealership said the battery failed . It also printed out a whole page of errors , at the dealership.
