I was changing a flat tire. Just as I got the spare onto the bolts, the jack snapped and the truck came crashing down. The vehicle was in my shop at home on a level concrete floor. Emergency brake had been applied.

At less than 2,000 miles, the frame and rear axle is rusting through the "protective" wax coating. Where my dealer placed jack points when jacking up the vehicle during pre-sale inspection, there are distinct rust marks in the shape of the jack point. The axle has rust spots increasing in size every week. The frame has rust spots increasing in size and apparent severity every week. The wax coating is often found in flakes under my truck in my garage in the morning. I had a 2011 silverado that, at 22k, had zero frame rust and it was exposed numerous times to chicago and minneapolis winters, including the heavy road salt. This new truck has never left georgia since its purchase. I am concerned about the structural integrity of this vehicle over time if the frame will rust as much as it has in less than 2,000 miles. What will it look like at 50k mi. ?.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While attempting to change one of the tires, the contact noticed that the jack did not fit where the instruction manual indicated it was to fit. The contact stated that the piece of metal on the jack as suggested by the owners manual, was too large for the placement location on the frame of the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired for the failure. The failure and current mileage was 13,000.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 extended 0. 5 ton: spear-tire lowering device. The plastic tube from bumper to square lowering nipple does not align. When inserting rode into tube you cannot connect with nipple. After 25 min. If fishing around for connection one person must crawl under the vehicle, look through small hole in rim of the spare-tire and with the third link of crank rode push the tube up and have the other person make the crank to nipple connection. The tube was not broken just too flexible and was out of alignment by at least 2 inches. One person far from any help like we were would be in trouble. Also, there needs to be a flat metal contact pad on the rear axle that the jack top can rest on. The jack top is almost flat and seeing it resting on a round axle is unsettling. The jack need to also extend at least 1 inch more then it does because at full height the tire barely went on. We could have repositioned the jack further down the axle to get more height.
