2 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/30/2020

4. 3l v6 wt 2012 chevy 1500 4wd vehicle drives fine, good temperatures and then without warning the vehicle shows a warning message that the engine is too hot and that the a/c was forced off by the trucks computer system and sends the temp gauge to 160 and will not move. Problem appears to be a manufacturer installed thermostat that if not dealt with immediately send the cooling fans and radiator fan(s)(as mine has a oem from the dealer auxillary transmission cooler at full speeds. The risk of this issue can cause damage to the truck and needs to be looked into as it can cause the fans and coolant to cause damage to the vehicles and also not let an accurate readout of engine temps to let them know of actual issues present. Code is code p01028 that gets stored but the issue is in the thermostats that the threshold for an engine that doesn't reach it's cutoff value shuts it down.

With only 500 miles on the truck/engine oil pressure has been dropping drastically while going from drive to idle. It drops frim 60 to under 30. Also battery power gauge drops well below 14 when originally was over 14. This also began at the same time oil pressure issues began.

Dash is cracked around passenger airbag and above gauge cluster. This is a hazard for airbag deployment. This needs to be considered for recall as it has impacted many of the models during specific date range starting in 2007.

9 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 11/15/2015

One morning, my daughter and I was getting in the truck so I could drop her off at school. We got about a mile down the road and started hearing a rattle. Once we made it to a stop sign, I looked around in the truck and found the problem. There are 2 cracks going down the right side of the gauge cluster on the dash. As well as another crack on the left back corner of the airbag on the passenger side dash. I'm very particular about my truck. I keep it very clean. I've never placed anything on the dash/window area to cause the cracks. That morning it was cold out, probably around 30 degrees. It was very discouraging that when I called to ask about the replacement, (during that time, I still had my warranty from where I had bought the vehicle) I was told that it would not be covered, and would need to be paid out of pocket. I was raised as a chevy man, I believe they make amazing vehicles. For this not to already have been an issue to had fixed due to the large amount of people having the same issue is outrageous. It is obviously a safety issue. Since the entire center dash is weak from being cracked on each side, I feel it could potentially cause the airbag to fail in the front or even worse is injure who is sitting in the middle seat in the back. (daughter sits in that spot due to age. ) please, do something to fix this issue. It's clear that it's a problem and it could potentially save a life by being proactive about the situation. Chevy has always been dependable, don't let your loyal customers down.

10 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

After having driven vehicle a short distance for an appointment, truck would not start an hour later; however, lights came on dash. I waited 10 seconds and tried it again, and it started no problem. Then no problem starting the next time but driving around town the radio start shutting off for about 3 seconds before coming back on. This happened a few times, then as I am driving, the entire electrical system starts going haywire, lights flashing on dash with warning lights & messages going off on dash, then everything but the engine shuts off (dash lights, gauges, radio and a/c), after about 5 seconds everything comes back on. I immediately drive to my mechanic who hooked up the computer to my truck and said it was my ignition switch. He said he could not get me in that day and asked me to bring it back the next day. So the rest of that day I did not have any further problems with it. The next day I took it to my mechanic and got the ignition switch replaced. While the mechanic had my truck for several hours until I could go back to pick it up, he said he started it many times and it appeared to be fixed. So I leave the mechanic shop and go back to work, then get off work 2-3 hours later and my truck will not start. After attemping it 3 times, it started. I drive home which is 10 minutes away and turn the truck off and back on. Only when I attempt to turn the truck on, it will not start. This time nothing happens. . . No clicking sound or any attempts of the engine wanting to start. . . . No lights on the dash like before. It was 2 hours later before I was able to get just lights to come on the dash, then another 30 minutes went by before I was able to get my truck to start. This is day 3 of dealing with it and I drove it to work and back home with no problems. I called mechanic who said sounds like a grounding problem. I said sounds like computer system.

11 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 12/03/2014

My dash on my truck has cracks in the dash by the airbag and above the gauge cluster. I am worried if Chevrolet does not do a voluntary recall on this there is a chance that the airbag may not function properly.

12 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/24/2014

I own a 2011 silverado. It has the cracks in the passenger airbag area, and above the gauge cluster. Of course after seeing all the other cracked dashes. It really makes me unhappy that this is not already a recall or taken care of. One day I got in my vehicle and saw both cracks, and it happened 2 days after someone told me it is just a matter of time before it cracks. I really would like it replaced.

13 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 04/26/2014

Oil gauge reads from zero to 80 (highest reading) with alarms being souded repeatedly. The gauge is bouncing, causing the alarm to come on and go off while in traffic. When accelerating the pressure will drop to zero then bounce. Oil level is perfect. Truck is well cared for.

15 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 like many others I have a cracked dashboard. One of them is a small crack next to the passenger airbag and another much larger one is on the drivers side above the gauges. I've always kept my dashboard covered when it was parked with a cover that goes across the windshield and used a product protect and keep the dashboard new. To me it seems like the problem stems from improperly placed screws and clasps or possibly an inferior material for the dashboard.

16 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/04/2009

I purchased this truck brand new in August 2008. I noticed the first dashboard crack, on the left side of the passenger air bag, about two years later. I took my truck to the dealership I bought it from, over concerns about possible splintering of the dashboard in the event an airbag deployment. The dealer only offered to replace the defective component. The quote was just over $1200. He also assured me that my still active, "bumber to bumber" warranty would not cover this particular defect. Of course now I've got a crack from the defrost vent to the windshield, and cracking over the gauge cluster so severe that it is basically a hole. It is more than obvious that this component is defective in material, design, application or mounting method. It is also obvious that this component is a safety hazard due to the likelihood of splintering should an impact and/or an airbag deployment occur. The hole in my dashboard also represents multiple violations of automotive safety and construction standards. Set forth by the federal government. All that being said, I have taken immaculate care of this vehicle and there is no plausible explanation other than a defect in the component itself.
