The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The mechanical jack that was equipped with the vehicle cannot be used as instructed in the operation manual. It poses a great danger if attempted to be used manually. The contact went to the dealer for instructions and they provided alternative locations to place the jack in addition to how it should be used. The contact disagrees with the instructions and cannot use the jack in the recommended manner. He called general motors and they called the dealer; however, neither one plans to take corrective action and close the case since no one was reportedly killed by the issue. The contact stated, the directions for changing a tire indicated there was a pad on the axle, for the positioning of the tire jack. There was not a pad on the axle as indicated, leaving no safe location to position the tire jack. Updated 09/13/06.
