Number one electrical system left side wire harness manufacturer installed in properly, not watertight and ran through a pinch point causing wires to break. Safety was put at risk due to power failure from fuel pump and brake lights failing which could’ve caused a potential accident. Been confirmed by an independent service center. Reached out to the manufacturer. They said there was no recalls. It was very unhelpful. On the failure happened a light did come on. Number two media end navigation system this is a safety risk because at certain times it will switch between screens at will by itself. They will also put calls on hold, causing you to instinctively reach for your phone and taking your attention from driving as well as switch off of navigation moving your attention from driving, this is a clear definition of distraction and not serving the purpose it was created for which is also been confirmed by an independent shop. I reached out to gm. They said there was no recalls. And there is no service light. P. S. I just found out that I could make a complaint here so I do not have any of my old documentation. I just went to the dealership this morning to try and get some help and I had no luck. They would not be helpful at all. They just want to sign me up for a service meeting and charge me another $500 to look at it only to tell me they can’t order me a wearing harness again.

Our parking brake locked up and we could not go anywhere. Had to have it taken to a dealership to have it looked at. Then all our warning lights keep going off and it says acceleration speed slow down drive safely and its parked. We have had nothing but problems with the truck since we bought it. We had the transmission replaced before there was even 50,000 miles on it. I feel we got a lemon nothing but problems.

Sliding rear window leaks in 3 spots. Leak poses the safety risk of mold growth inside the vehicle along with the potential of water getting inside of electrical components and air bag device compartments. The problem was reproduced and confirmed at the dealership, to which the plastic seal at the top of the rear window was confirmed to have failed in 3 locations. Dealership recommended replacing the entire back window and assembly with what they believe to be the same window assembly that failed. The only inspection completed on the vehicle to date has been the dealership gm certified technicians. Musty smell after rain and observed staining on the headliner is when the issue was first identified.

Driving across town. Going around 30 mph. Through a busy intersection and the rear wheels locked up again. Sends a jolt to anyone in the vehicle. Causing a whiplash effect. Scary as hell. Seems to happen almost daily now. Very unsafe. Worried about myself and anyone behind me. Dealer and other mechanics described it as "momentary wheel lock up". Please issue a recall.

A few month ago this 2020 silverado check engine came on in the middle of driving. It stopped shifting and almost caused an accident because it wouldn’t stop. I took it to the dealer and they found nothing wrong. Today, it is doing the same thing with faulty shifting, especially during first and second gears and when I initially accelerate. It is jumpy and worried and accident will happen if the car stops shifting like before. The check engine light is on again.

When accelerating, it started around 35 mph, I would be driving and it would feel like hitting a speed bump, even though there wasn't a speed bump. Over the past month, it has moved to about the 45 mph, and the rear wheels completely lock up for a second, cause the tires to "squeal" as if slamming on the brakes. It gives anyone in the vehicle a whiplash effect. Any loose items in the truck will go flying. It is a scary situation and I am worried it is going to cause damage to myself or my passengers or cause an accident. The term given to me by the dealer is "momentary rear wheel lock-up". They were very familiar with the issue, but since my VIN wasn't on the recall, they wouldn't do anything. This has happened numerous times, starting back in early March. The issue has escaladed and gotten worse. The latest date is noted below.

I noticed that the carpet behind the seat was wet and moldy in the truck so I started looking and noticed the rear window was leaking in two areas. This has obviously been going on for a while as it explains why the kids have been complaining about the smell back there. Since florida is sub-tropical mold and mildew is a problem and a health issue. I investigated and found hundreds of complaints regarding this issue with failed sealant and cracks. I also discovered a service bulletin that describes the issue but gm refuses to fix it since they say it's not a safety or mechanical issue. Well, I happen to disagree with that since the leak causes the window to fog up and an unsafe environment for people to breath in mold spores in a small space. So, my visibility is impaired and I have to suffer with respiratory issues? this seems to be reason enough for them to perform a permanent repair at their expense, not mine and they can take it out of the designers pay, not mine. Can you help with this?.

Air conditioning stopped cooling, research found ac condenser cracked allowing freon to leak out.

I was driving down the road and my oil lines from my engine to my oil cooler exploded and oil went everywhere. I turned off the truck immediately. I started looking around and there is a bulletin (n192220080) addressing this issue with my make model and year vehicle but my VIN was not included. I called gm and they said since this was issued by NHTSA they have to be the ones to update the bulletin or issue a new one if this is happening on more vehicles.

I purchased this truck 3/20/2025. I have since realized it wasn't me doing something wrong. The truck hesitates and shakes during shifting upon acceleration from a stop and when putting it in park and attempting to turn the truck off it has a message on the display saying "shift to park" and it will not turn off until you repeatedly restart it and play woth the gear shift to get it to register that it's in park. I have made an appointment to take it to the dealership to be looked at. The truck has 75,000 miles on it.

2022 chevy Silverado 1500 is unable recognize that it has been placed in park consistently, essentially trapping us in the vehicle until the "shift to park" error gets corrected. After shifting the vehicle into park and pressing the button to turn off the vehicle, an error comes up on the dash saying "shift to park". In order to clear this error and have the vehicle recognize that it is safely parked, we must turn the vehicle back on, put the vehicle in reverse or drive, and depress the gas pedal to move the vehicle slightly, shift the vehicle to park again, wait at least 30 seconds to a minute, and then finally press the button to turn off the vehicle. And we must repeat this anywhere from 3 to 15 times until the brakes safely engage to park the vehicle. I worry that the vehicle wont safely go into park and will roll away on its own. This is the same error that was reported for other gm models recently and is affecting the safety, reliability, usability, and longevity of this vehicle.

I have been shopping for a truck for a little over a year now specifically a 2012 chevy silverado. To date everyone I found has frame and body rust but the frame rust is so bad that most aren’t safe to drive.

Over the course of ownership the chassis of this vehicle has gotten horrendously corroded, which has caused structural components of the frame to begin to develop rust holes needing repair. These holes in the chassis are caused by the incorrect application of the factory chassis wax coating and has caused the entire frame to become deeply rusted through in many areas. Additionally I have been through two transmissions, the first occurring at around 55,000 miles of use, and the second around 105,000 miles. Seems there is a point of failure after around 50,000 miles on these transmissions.

The frame is completely rusted my mechanic said it is paper thin and is in danger of falling gm is not offering to fix this even though it is a TSB it is very dangerous to drive.

Water found in rear interior of cab, water leak at rear sliding window. I noticed water spots on the left and right sides of the headliner. I took it to a dealer (malloy chevy winchester va), and the said it was a TSB put out on this problem and they would file a claim. The truck has 48000 miles and the bumper to bumper company denied the claim. Have the TSB didn't matter to them. Can you assist in any way with this?.

Electronics for hands free stopped working. This part was already replaced once. When backing up, the whole truck shut down. I restarted, it said to roll drivers side window down and up. Truck started up again. Few days later. . . Returning from trip, lost power, windshield wipers came on, electronics in truck started blinking. Pulled over, rolled driver's side window up and down. Started back on road. This has happened numerous times. Whenever I gave it extra gas, asking for power to pass, same thing mentioned above happened. Very stressful! next day, hit a hole, truck totally shut down again. Husband was able to safely coast off road, however, if he had been pulling out at a major intersection, this could have been bad. Warning light that comes with shutdown says "stabltrack issue". I have not seen our dealer service department yet, but plan to very soon. Very unsafe. . . And I love this truck!!!!.

The lock actuators on the truck have failed multiple times on each door. The rear locks have failed again. I have replaced them numerous times. I do see a lot of people complaining on forums about the same issue. I always have to check to make sure my doors lock when I exit my vehicle. I have put todays date as the incident due to multiple times the locks have failed.

Unknown, my transmission gave up on me but there was no warning light and I almost got in a car accident due to the transmission 8l90.

We bought this truck in 2020 with only in two years had to have the transmission rebuilt within warranty 2 1/2 years later after rebuilding the transmission with the dealer warranty, the transmission gives out again same problems as before now the warranty expired and we have to pay out of pocket to have the transmission replaced as no one is reaponxible for repairs. This has been an ongoing issue since the beginning and I don’t understand what this transmission is not being recalled if you could please explain multiple people that I have talked to and multiple mechanics have advised me that this is an ongoing issue with this make and model. I only wish I had known this before purchasing and now I’m hoping that I can get help on this.

A trailer hitch has an sticker stating the tow vehicle maximum trailer rating for the hitch. Owner's manual and towing safety stickers on the driver's side door only state the maximum dead weight for a hitch. . . That is the weight applied if a trailer is attached to the tow vehicle's hitch ball. This sticker give you maximum if a trailer is installed with a weight distribution hitch assembly. On my 2025 silverado, as well on four other silverados I viewed at a dealer, and a few GMC sierras, also viewed at dealers, the sticker is applied; however, impossible to read the specifications supplied by the sticker. I have uploaded two files: one, is the sticker as viewed on a 2016 GMC that is attached to the bottom of the hitch, easy to read and obtain the safety information contained. Second photo is how the sticker is attached to my 2025 silverado (and as noted on all other vehicles I viewed at dealerships) and as you can see, the specifications are not readable. I even tried a mirror and not enough room for the mirror to fit and allow viewing of the stats. The information on this sticker is required to safely pull a trailer with a weight distribution style hitch assembly. And to require a sticker, but not make as requirement it needs to be legible is ludicrous. Thanks.

Transmission isssues hard shifting and no shifting at times. I informed the dealership about the recall on this issue and they are saying it doesn’t fall under the recall which isn’t true because my vehicles is showing all of the symptoms under the recall #n242454440.

Rain is coming in through the back window. Dealer is stating that the rain is coming from the sliding window but satellite is stating it’s the brake light on the top of the truck.

My vehicle has 43k miles and I just got a p1098 code. I took it to a local mechanic and they have determined that the engine coolant control valve position sensor is not functioning. This is causing the fan to run at 100% at all times. I am also getting a message on the dash stating that the vehicle is in reduced acceleration mode. When doing my research I have found that this part is failing on multiple silverado's. The part is on national back order and the dealership won't answer any questions regarding warranty.

I’m reporting a safety concern involving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 3. 0l duramax diesel engine. The vehicle went into limp mode and died on the side of the road. Aaa installed a new battery, which temporarily restored operation, though the “service charging system” warning remained. I drove it home, let it sit for several days, and then took it to a Chevrolet dealership. Although the warning light had cleared, I brought it in out of caution. The first dealer diagnosed a failed alternator and recommended replacement at a cost of $2,158. 75. I was also told the vehicle was not included in any active recalls related to this issue. Believing the price was high and wanting a second opinion, I went to another Chevrolet dealer. They ran the same diagnostic and found no issue with the alternator or generator, charging only a diagnostic fee. They also said if the alternator had needed replacement, the cost would have been around $1,300. I mentioned to both dealers that I had seen similar alternator/charging system failures recalled on other 2020 silverado models. Online forums and customer complaints suggest that many Silverado 1500 trucks with the 3. 0l duramax are experiencing similar problems, indicating a potentially broader issue. Given the inconsistency in diagnostics, the significant cost discrepancy, and the number of similar consumer reports, I believe this issue may be more widespread than current recalls reflect. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether the existing recall should be expanded or if a new recall should be issued for 2020 Silverado 1500 models equipped with the 3. 0l duramax. This issue occurred shortly after a separate failure related to the nox sensor, which I am submitting under a separate complaint.

While driving, the emergency brake engages and locks the car up coming to a complete stop mid driving (on highway!). This has happened 3 times now, took it into dealer, they did a computer update and released. It has since happened again, with my child in the car!.

My tailgate started opening randomly for 2 consecutive days now. This happens while the vehicle is in park with the keys out of the ignition and also while driving down the road exposing items in the bed to possibly fall out and cause potential injury or death from accidents.

Diesel engine continues to overheat, even after the oil temperature sensor failure dealership repair. Truck is very well maintained. However, common and trending issue amongst 1500 silverado diesel owners is overheating which causes engine to loose power while driving and even get so hot it can catch fire. Warning lights appear only when problem is at engine failure point. Also, we lost power or reduced power on freeway which almost caused an accident and engine was smoking. We had it towed to epic Chevrolet in sacramento, CA. Within one week of dealership repair covered under powertrain warranty, dealership said overheating engine is due to a “new” code for coolant pump. In short, fire and driving safety hazard that can cost lives if not addressed by NHTSA.
