The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard cracked at the location of the passenger side air bag without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the warranty expired and nothing could be done. The manufacturer stated that the failure would be investigated. The dashboard is cracking directly above the passenger air bag and traveling towards the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was stationary and is protected from heat both at home, at work, and with a visor. I attempted to contact gm, they are not taking responsibility for this.

Dash is cracked in many places. Vehicle has 113k miles was bought that way in may of 17 with dash cracked at 104k miles.

I'm writing about my dashboard cracking above the passenger side airbag. I have a 2010 chevy crew cab and I'm on my 3rd dashboard for this truck. I'm the original owner and only have 50,000 miles on the truck that is in like new condition. This is definitely and major problem with this design of dash and needs to be addressed. Immediately. I have an appointment to change out the dash again this week but it is going to cost me hundreds of dollars for something I shouldn't have to pay for. What is my next step from here?.

The dash cracked and getting worse on this 40,000. 00 truck. This is a very common defect from my internet search. It only has 70,000 miles,the sun cracked it and the electrical system could be effected later. Rediculous,never had a newer model crack like this,very cheap!the vehicle was stationary I think when wife spotted it. They should fix this mess.

Dashboard has cracked making it a safety concern from the air bags. This has happened over a period of one year. Now the total dashboard has completely cracked.

Dashboard crack at the top left front corner of the air bag. The vehicle was stationary in my driveway overnight.

Dash has large crack directly in front of steering wheel and two smaller cracks on each side of air bag on passenger side of dash. It appears to have happened quickly as I noticed it when wiping down dash and had not noticed it last time I cleaned.

Dash cracks at passenger side air bag is this a problem if the bag went off will the broken piece of dash board go with it. Also loose body side moldings had repaired under warranty and came off again luckily it didn't come off while driving.

My dashboard is cracking around passenger airbag and above odometer on the driver's side, a well known issue with gm vehicles. I am waiting for the day when my airbag deploys and I or a love one gets impaled with a piece of that defective plastic. Please help with this issue before somebody gets hurt.

2011 chevy Silverado 1500. The passenger side dash board is cracked. The truck only had 40000 miles on it when the dash cracked. I contacted gm about this problem, with no luck to get them to recall this problem. In the event the air bag deploying pieces of the dash will come apart and go flying everwhere!!.

This is the second dash board that has cracked by the air bag and above the instrument panel. The first was covered under the factory warranty and now its out of warranty. I worry that having a dash that is coming a part will blow apart if the air bag goes off after all the airbag cover is also the same plastic. . This is a safety issue and gm needs to take care of it. What will happen if you get into a accident and the dash come a part.

The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (bryan Chevrolet) were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 45,000.

The dash has a crack on the corner of the passenger side air bag.

The dash has cracked where the passenger air bag cover. It appears that if the air bag were to deploy the dash could fracture further and cause bodily harm.

Dash cover cracks present a potential safety hazard in the event of crash/collision with or without airbag deployment due to sharp flying debris. Dash is constructed of hard plastic that fractures in normal use/wear which results sharp and potentially dangerous projectiles.

Dashboard is cracking in two places. Cracks are approximately 2 inches in length and have sharp edges. Concerned sharp edges could cause negative impact during an impact that causes airbag deployment.

Dashboard cracking right in front of driver on top of speedometer. There are 2 cracks. I am concerned that if the air bags deploy, the sharp broken plastic, can become shrapnel, and a secondary danger from puncture wounds. This vehicle is a 2011, well cared for and has less than 18k miles.

Dashboard is cracked all over.

Dash is cracked in three places. In case of an airbag deployment the dash could break into many piece acting like shrapnel. This needs to be a recall as gm knows of this issue. This issue has happened while the vehicle is in motion.

Takara recall. Check airbag warning light on. Dealer informed me no date for repair parts. Dashboard broken and cracked in multiple places. Complete section broken out above steering wheel.

Dash cracks.

The dashboard has developed a crack at the corner of the airbag on the passenger side. Normally I wouldn't think this is a recall issue but I personally know of at least three other people who have experienced the same exact crack at the same exact location on their dashboard. I have done some research on the issue and it seems as though this is a widespread problem with the 2007-2011 silverado and tahoe vehicles from Chevrolet.
