Engine Exhaust System Problems of Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle went into limp mode and was slow to respond as needed. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the exhaust. While driving, the rear end locked up. The contact stated that the vehicle was slipping, and the vehicle shut off while driving. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact replaced the spark plugs, coil pack, and spark plug wires with a misfire in cylinder #6. The contact stated that the fluids were replaced at an unknown local dealer prior to the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet silverado. Upon inspection of vehicle, the contact discovered an abnormal design of the vehicle's exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe had been smashed in and pipe appeared to be closed shut. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed him that it may have been designed that way to ensure safe ground clearance while driving the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, they had become nauseous and had temporarily lost consciousness. The contact pulled off the highway and went for a walk to regain composure; the contact did not seek medical attention. The contact believed that the design of the exhaust pipe had caused those symptoms to occur. The contact spoke with the dealer and scheduled an appointment for a diagnostic. While traveling with the vehicle cruise control set at 45mph the vehicle dropped from 6 cylinders to 4 cylinders. When the vehicle was in 4 cylinder mode and it had to accelerate the entire passenger compartment started to violently vibrate (sorry but that¿s the best description I can give) almost lost control of the vehicle. This is a reoccurring problem Chevrolet so far has changed the tires, realigned the catalytic converter, replaced the exhaust clamps, attempted to replace the entire exhaust system. None of these have yet to resolve the problem. This occurs at all speeds with or without cruise control engaged.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that black smoke was being emitted from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 14v007000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the failure would still occur when the vehicle had been idle for long periods of time. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing but the dealer stated that unless the warning light was illuminated, they were unable to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacture was contacted and stated that since the occurrence was normal for a newer vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1000. The current mileage was 33,000.

Emissions defect concerning broken exhaust manifold bolts. Due to this issue truck can not pass arizona state inspection do to engine light coming on. Thousands of silverado, sierra, suburban, tahoe, yukon and even escalade owners have spent millions on this problem after their warranties ran out and some can't renew their licenses for failing an etest because of it. Please help get gm to recall this.

When you start the vehicle their is a blue/black puff of exhaust. The vehicle now is using oil very badly and leaves oil spot whenever it parked.

2007 chevy silverado exhaust manifold bolts snapping. The exhaust manifold bolts on gm 4. 8, 5. 3, 6. 0 v8's are junk and defective. They corrode and snap easily and prematurely. My truck is a 2007 with 84000 miles with an exhaust leak caused by defective bolts. Bolts are not covered under gm powertrain warranty.

The heads on the bolts on the exhaust manifold have sheared. There is an exhaust leak which causes my truck to fail inspection.

2010 silverado k1500, 4. 3 l v-6, long bed, standard cab. From new the exhaust rattles/vibration at cruise 1300 to 1500 rpm. Does not do this at any other rpm only the range stated. On shut down backfire pop out the exhaust tail pipe. Vehicle has 3100 miles on it now. No other issues noted.

I have a 2007 chevy siverado 4. 3 l v6 engine. The emissons system went crazy, first saying coolant temperature too low for engine,replaced thermostat that went bad,got stuck open. Light goes out. Next day light back on says evap solenoid vent has grooss leak. There r no replacemant parts for this failure come 2 find out after talking to dealer. U have to buy whole new solenoid vent system and add 5/8 heater hose to rerun the vent so dirt,dust and debris is harder to enter the vent. They say its a flaw in design so gm redesigned it and this is how to fix it. If they know its a bad design then they should pay for it to be replaced with their new design.

2003 Chevrolet silverado exhaust manifold bolt broke. Less than 100k miles. Costly repair to have the bolt drilled out and replace all bolts and gasket. Exhaust leaks and can hear ticking noise for the first 10 minutes or so after the vehicle is started. Also causes my check engine light to come on, pulling error codes for oxygen sensors.

I own a 2006 Chevrolet silverado truck. I have noticed a ticking wile the trucks engine is cold. I have taken in the truck for repair and my mechanic informed me that the exhaust bolts are broken on the exhaust manifold. This is a common problem with gm trucks and there should be a recall from gm to fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the motor was cracked which caused oil and antifreeze to combine and emit through the exhaust pipe. The heat failed to operate normally and the contact observed that approximately one gallon of antifreeze and 2 quarts of oil leaked out of the vehicle. The identical failure occurred previously. A local mechanic confirmed that the engine was cracked between cylinder 3 and cylinder 5 and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer advised her to have the vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer although her warranty was not valid for the repair. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current mileage was approximately 89,000. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. Updated 12/30/09 updated 01/04/10.

Exhaust bolts on 2006 silverado, 4. 3 v6, breaking at 40,000 miles, creating fire hazard and letting carbon monoxide back into cab. Contacted gm, wanted to run diagnostics on broken bolts, ha ha very funny. Lot of good that would have done.

5 exhaust bolts have broken off on my 6. 0 liter chevy engine. 3 on the driver's side and 2 on the passenger side. This is a common problem with this engine that chevy will not stand behind. The local dealer quoted me $2,000 to fix the problem.

Normal vehicle operation - passenger side exhaust flange don't/gasket- do to a flaw in the design, the flange is not allowed to be tightened enough to maintain gasket seal thus allowing carbon monoxide/exhaust into the vehicle.

The truck was purchased the 17th of June and two wks later the service engine light came on and its was real hard to get in 2nd gear. We took it to the chevy dealership and they checked it out for us. The problems are there is no cat converter,two seals and a sensor that needs to be replaced. Not to mention 2nd gear is messed . The service manager told us and gave us the list of things wrong and they are the 2nd gear ,the synchroni,3nd gear,synchroni and the ring in first. All this is to do with the transmission and the cat converter. A and z autos got mad that we took it to the chevy dealer. They keep giving us the run around and have not fixed the truck yet and they still have it at their shop. They will not return our calls .

1999-20?? gm 5. 3 liter engine. Left side exhaust manifold, last bolt back head has popped off. I have seen four other motors like this and have heard of several more. This allows exhaust gases to enter the cabin area posing a risk of CO poisoning.

Vehicle burns oil. Goes through about a quart every 2,000 miles. Also sometimes when the vehicle is started it blows a lot of blue smoke out of the exhaust pipes.
