While driving to school which is approx 70 miles from my house, I was approx 10 miles from my end location and had been driving for 1 hour and 15 minutes without issues. I was driving on I-70 at 75 mph when the truck completely shut down. The engine shut off, brakes went out, steering locked, all electrical shut off. The truck was dead for approx 4 seconds when it kicked back on on its own. The truck continued down the road like nothing had happened. The truck did the same thing about 3 miles after the first time the truck died. There were no more incidents during that trip. Later that same day I was pulling into kroger parking lot turning into a parking spot at about 5 mph when the truck completely shut down again. The truck was dead for approx 3-5 seconds each time with completely shutdown before completely restarting on its own and continuing like nothing happened.

Truck will lose all power, everything will shut off, and then come right back on. It has happened while accelerating into traffic, slowing down turning right and turning left, and while moving straight ahead. It has been in the shop once for this same issue and they tell me they cannot find anything wrong with it. The stabilitrac warning will come on and go off and have had stall warning flash in traffic at stop lights. This has been going on for the last 12,000 miles and I have 20,083 miles on truck now. The clock and radio reset. It shutdown pulling into traffic on a busy highway and was a very dangerous situation. Been trying to get it into dealership since 3 weeks ago and no luck. This is not the only issues with this truck.

Warning lights came on for steering assist while driving down the highway. At this time, the air conditioning and radio turned off, but the engine remained running. Dismissing the alert returned the a/c and radio, and the truck continued running. A few minutes later, an alert popped up for stabilitrack, the a/c turned off, and the engine shut off, all while moving. I lost my brakes, was still able to steer, and had to use the emergency brake to come to a stop. This is extremely dangerous. There are people all over the internet talking about grounding issues related to this, and it's not uncommon. Why is there not a recall for this?.

While driving at a low rate of speed, my vehicle has completely shut off. After putting the truck in park and restarting, it drove fine. This has happened several times now. Once I pulled into our driveway and while waiting for the garage door to open, it shut off momentarily and then restarted on its own. Now it is shutting off and not restarting. The power steering is also gone when this happens. This is incredibly dangerous at intersections. We've called the dealership but they said they weren't aware of any issues. This started occurring around 85,000 miles.
Vehicle steering is interrupted while in motion and turning. ( ~10 mph city streets) vehicle shuts off at low speed or after idleing and vehicle is placed into drive from park. (city streets 0-7mph) while at highway speeds speed/cruse control disengages (shuts off) when right turn signal is activated. (multiple hwy speed ranges 50-75 mph) note-date below is the latest of these repeated issues. The three events described have repeated occasionally recurred since ownership. Now steering interruption and vehicle losing power after idleing more frequent. Speed/cruse control disengagement when signal light is activated is also recurring.
During a turn to a side street the vehicle shut off. All steering and brakes were inoperable. There was an engine malfunction light and a message about there being 2 identical keys for the truck then anti theft flashed. While stopped in the intersection blocking traffic, a message directed to roll down the drivers window then back up. When that was done, electrical came back on and steering was restored. The vehicle was started and is now unsafe for use. The control for being on or off is unreliable and therefore unsafe to use as a transport. 42000 miles on the 2014 high country silverado. No steering. No brakes. . . That makes it unsafe. Would you put your family in this vehicle and ask them to drive safely? how do you justify giving total control to volatile software? how about at 75 mph and it fails? just know it can happen would have ensured I considered another purchase. I believe that information alone will justify someone else's marketing data.
While driving slow and making a hard left turn everything flashes off 0n dash ,then on, on dash, but engine shuts off causing steering and braking safety concerns, this has happened three times in last two week took it to dealership they couldn't.

I made a turn at an intersection going 0mph to 10mph (low speed) and the engine shut down. Luckily I had a enough momentum to clear the intersection and not get t-boned. I was able to put the vehicle into neutral and start it again to drive off. No dash lights came on and I still had power steering indicating the key was still in the on position. I believe this is not an uncommon problem as there are at least 2 other reports of this happening in the NHTSA data base with this particular trucks year, make and model. That means there are now 3 complaints out of 10 relating to this very problem under the category of engine for this trucks year make and model. There are also more reports of this happening on various forms around the internet but have not been reported to the NHTSA. I bought this vehicle used from a car dealership 2 months ago with 47,000 miles on it and this incident happened at the 50,000 mile mark. I have called the dealer ship to see if there was any know knowledge of this happening to other people or any service bulletins out there relating to this issue but have not received a call back yet.

While slowing down to make a turn, usually always using turn signal, my truck will completely shut down in the middle of the intersection with no warning. The engine shuts down and all electrical is lost. Luckily I haven't been hit by another vehicle while trying to restart my truck in the middle of the intersection. After I get truck started there are numerous error codes in the display: open and close drivers side window, stabilatrak, steering wheel assist, stabilatrak reduce speed b/c of steering assist, 2 keys programmed. Also while traveling at high rate of speed (70-80 mph) on highway the stabilatrak error would appear when I put turn signal on to change lanes but truck has not yet shut down under that condition. I have taken my truck to 2 different Chevrolet dealers for this dangerous problem but they have not been able to find the problem. The last time the truck shut down on me was 9-19-2018 and the truck did not start right away and my 4-way flashers did not work while I was stranded in the intersection.
While slowing down to make a turn, usually always using turn signal, my truck will completely shut down in the middle of the intersection with no warning. The engine shuts down and all electrical is lost. Luckily I haven't been hit by another vehicle while trying to restart my truck in the middle of the intersection had to jump out car so I wasn't in side if hit finally cars stop honking I jumped back in and started up again I was scared had my children with me.
While conducting low speed manuveurs radio and dash flashes off, then engine shuts off while vehicle is still in drive causing loss of steering assist and brake assistance. Dash and radio turn back on and warning messages stating stabilitrak disabled, steering assistance reduced, 2 keys programmed, open and close drivers window, and park assist disabled are displayed. Dealership thinks this could be due to corrosion in the power distribution box and recommended replacement.
My 2014 Chevrolet silverado is at a gm dealership for the 4th time due to complete electrical and engine shutdown while driving. The issue started during low speed sharp turns but now is happening while driving the vehicle straight. Complete loss of use occurs and the vehicle will not come back on for 10 minutes after the occurrence. Power steering recall has not resolved it, ground wire tightening has not resolved and main battery cable replacement has not resolved. Dealership response is they don't know what the issue is caused from. I am very concerned this complete loss of power while driving will cause a severe collision and no recall or resolution has been created by gm.
Vehicle shuts down while driving it has done this 4 times to which I lose ability to control steering and I have to brake and try to reach side of street as soon possible I have taken it to dealer every time and they do not give me a cause of why this is happening nor do they fix it. I have been charged each time I have taken this vehicle in to verify why is this happening. I had a lettter sent to me by a law firm law office of ronald j bolz, pllc. . Read more...
Recall # 17276 for low voltage steering. Our vehicle has an extremely dangerous safety problem. When the steering wheel is turned quickly, the steering is extremely stiff, the headlights dim, and the engine shuts off. This is life threatening when making a turn across oncoming traffic lanes. We took the truck to a Chevrolet dealership for the recall # 17276 for low voltage steering. They reprogrammed the steering system. This did not resolve the problem. We have taken the truck back to the dealership 3 additional times now for this issue. The dealership has opened a case with gm, and gm has recommended many things, all at my cost that have not resolved the safety problem. I feel that gm is using me as a crash test dummy. I sent an e mail request to gm documenting this issue. Gm replied that they will only work by telephone they ask to record the call but will not allow the customer to do the same. They have refused to read or reply to my documented request for help. Please contact me for any details or questions, I desperately need help on this. Thank you,.
When variable timing of vehicle shuts down two cylinders, switching truck from v6 to v4 with rpm's at or below 1,500k, the truck begins to miss/shutter. This occurs and on road type, any weather condition. At times the vibrations of this miss/shutter can be a bit violent. If further accerate to force the truck back into v6 mode, the issue resolves itself but as soon as the truck switches back to v4 mode, the problems begins again immediately. I have had the truck at dealer service department 5 times with no resolution to the problem. Instead, the technicians continue to perform unrelated work items that do not alleviate the real issue. Upon my last service for the issue I was informed that "gm doesn't currently have a solution for the problem" and that all of the service work that the technicians continue to perform is "nothing more than a way to try to mask the symptoms so that you don't notice it. " upon researching, I have discovered that this exact same issue has arisen in multiple gm trucks. The long term affects, which are unknown at this time, are a concerning.

2014 chevy silverado experiencing steering to lock at low speeds and jerk the steering wheel in opposite direction and various electrical malfunctions such as door locks disengaging, a/c to shut of, engine stall, gauge cluster to turn off, "stabilitrack" and "steering assist reduced". After recall was performed issue has worsened and become more dangerous. Steering was locked at 80mph on busy highway, the previously stated electric malfunctions continued to happen as well. Engine shut off or lost power many times over the course of a few minutes. All the issues continued till shut off in busy traffic and was towed to Chevrolet dealer. Chevrolet dealer found no issues and fixed nothing. Gm customer service said that there is no issues to report and vehicle is not covered to be repaired. The loss of steering issues are still present and is an extreme safety concern.
