A current recall for this issue stands in cananda and alaska. The eoc engine cooling lines leak oil. The eoc clamp and/or assembly loosens causing a sever oil leak. More common in colder climate areas. Leak accrues at all times, when running or not.

While driving to work at 75mph my oil pressure went to 0 on the gauge and the instrumentation panel lit up saying no oil pressure turn off vehicle I pulled over in a timely manner. I exited the truck to find oil leaking from multiple areas under the truck. I had my truck towed to terry marxen dealership in flagstaff az and the advisor told me it was a oil cooler line that had failed. Currently there is an open recall #n192220080 for this in canada and the state of alaska only but it seems other vehicles are being affected here in the lower 48. This seems to be a safety issue as the engine can stall or lock up at various speeds causing uncertainties.
After noticing oil leaking from my vehicle, when parked, I researched on the internet for potential problems. I inspected the underside of the truck. Oil was covering the skid plate, all the way to the back of the transmission pan. When I placed the truck on ramps the oil that had pooled on the skid plate ran out. These trucks have a known issue of leaking or rupturing oil cooler lines. General motors has chosen to ignore the problem. The NHTSA has issued a recall for vehicles only in alaska and canada, when the problem occurs everywhere. Here is the recall n192220080 engine oil cooler lines detaching from crimp canada and state of alaska only copyright 2019 general motors. All rights reserved. Page 1 of 3 release date: December 2019 revision: 00 here are the ids of complaints that match the description of the problem on the NHTSA website: NHTSA id number: 11343141 NHTSA id number: 11298622 NHTSA id number: 11297163 also, a simple internet search revealed dozens of cases. I to determine the problem without ever removing the skid plate or looking under the vehicle.
Traveling down highway at 60mph the tracsion control light came on and the engine light started blinking followed by the truck starting to miss hard. Got to friends house changed #1 spark plug all better now at least for 1,000 miles then will have to change it again. Went through this with the last one we traded for this one. Then it developed an oil leak that's when we traded it.

Oil cooler line ruptured causing engine to lose oil pressure. Fortunately, I was on a city street and was able to pull over and shut off the engine. Upon checking the engine I found excessive oil leaking to the ground. Doing research on the internet this is not a rare occurrence for these gm oil line hoses to fail. Imagine this happening while driving 65 miles an hour on a highway and no where to pull over.
At 44,000 miles the oil pan leaked. Took it to chevy dealership, had it fixed. I have 47000 miles on it now. Same issue happened, took it to chevy dealership, the dealership said it was the oil pan and has to order a whole new oil pan. Then the dealership calls me back and tells me I have bad oil cooling lines, but wants me to pay for it. No way, sorry. Chevy needs to stop making cheap junk. Truck is 3 yrs old and less then 50k miles. I have had a few other issues with this truck in the 3 yrs time. Oil cooling lines keeps the oil inside the engine from getting to hot. It can be a hazard for the lines to leak and or the oil to get to hot and ruin the engine causing major issues with putting builds all over the highways. Oil cooling lines should be included in a powertrain warranty and not bumper to bumper. Something like these oil cooling lines only last for 3 yrs should or less than 50k miles is uncalled for and should be replaced under a recall! period! chevy and gm has went the cheap route and their vehicles are not worth the money. Will never, ever tell someone to buy a America made product like chevy/gm.

Got truck 1-25-16 with 49066 miles now 9-12-2018 has 94000 use's oil between changes. I always change when oil life monitor says 10% life left use ac delco dexos oil doesn't leak or smoke . I traded in a 1999 silverado with 201000 miles it used no oil. Gm needs to take care of this problem as I hear it happens to far to many trucks with the 5. 3 engine.

The failure mileage was 7,000.
I purchased the vehicle, brand new in may of 2014. The first malfunction of the vehicle was June 19 2014. The steering wheel, ignition, and cylinder remained locked and I was restrained from starting vehicle I contacted Chevrolet roadside assistance in which they were no assistance. I was able to start car after aprox 30min. The second malfunction was in March 2015. My truck turned off while driving on the freeway in the fast lane causing loss of power steering, speed and all functions of the vehicle. Onstar and highway patrol were contacted and highway patrol assisted in pushing vehicle to the shoulder. The third incident was July 30. Immediately after taking my truck into paradise Chevrolet for an oil change. A gas attendee noticed I was leaking oil. The oil cap had not been tightened causing oil leakage. The most recent event was August 11,2015. My vehicle turned off once again while being driven on the highway with my husband and five month old daughter in it, causing loss of power steering, speed and all functions of the truck. The vehicle did restart aprox. 20min after. However, when restarted the truck made a noticeably shakey motion. Both events in which the vehicle turned off while driving were followed shortly after paradise Chevrolet of ventura CA "upgraded software", without my knowledge. Both times I went in for an oil change and I was informed after the fact that they had upgraded software/ preformed a "recall".
Bought this truck used had 54000 miles on it. Still had warranty left on it. At 71000 miles started using 1 to 2 qts of oil between changes. The dealer has done all changes on this truck every 3000 to 4000 miles. Asked them why it started using oil and they said they checked and could not find any leaks and didn't know why it was using oil. Have had to add 1 or 2 qts between changes every since the truck now has 107000 miles on it. Their are hundreds of reports of this problem on the internet. Need help in getting this repaired.
