39 Frame And Members problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/29/2010

40 Frame And Members problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 01/25/2010

The cable mechanism that is fastened to the frame of the underside of my pick-up truck along with the spare tire fell from my truck onto the highway. This mechanism is what holds spare tire under my truck bed and has a winch with cable that raises and lowers the tire. The mechanism slides under steel support on side and is secured with a bolt on other side. The steel base around the bolt cracked and broke loose. Fortunately I lost my spare tire during daytime conditions and on lightly traveled road or a vehicle behind me could sustained damaged and passengers could be hurt. My truck is a Chevrolet 2003 Silverado 1500 2wd work truck model. I bought this truck new and have had few problems with it. I have just over 80,000 actual mile on the odometer of my truck.

Failure Date: 03/21/2009

Gas tank straps rusted away.

44 Frame And Members problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 08/28/2008

The vehicle is a 2002 Silverado 1500. The frame cross member that is located just in front of the gas tank has rusted out on the base of the mounts on each side where it is connected to the lower part of the frame. This makes the vehicle not able to be inspected in the state of vermont. The regional chevy rep said it isn't a common problem which leads me to believe it must be a defect in the undercoating done on my truck that allowed this deterioration to happen. The truck is well cared for and should not rust in such a basic structural component.

45 Frame And Members problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 05/27/2008

2007 chevy 1500 silverado pickup bumpers - the bumpers on these pickups are inadequate. I realize the agency does not have a standard for pickups. This should be changed. I bumped into another truck this evening trying to get out of the parking lot. The impact had to have occurred at a mph range of 1 to 2 mph at the most. I stopped and inspected for damage on my vehicle as well as the other pickup involved. None was initially seen, even by a witness. However, upon further inspection a while late, a portion of my bumper (the plastic end caps) are now rubbing against the paint. I barely bumped another vehicle, now I have to shell over $1000 to fix some damage. You can not even see where the collision occurred (the face of the bumper) on my vehicle, just that the bumper is bent. Whether it is a truck or car, 16 gage metal will not hold up to even the slightest collision. Truck standards in general need to be raised! dustin grant.

47 Frame And Members problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 04/03/2007

Steering column felt loose - dealership greased it - it appears this will be an every 10,000 miles expense. Dealership refuses to admit the beam shake exists that I have just looked up and says they do not know anything about it. This causes the mirrors to be unusable. Power steering pump is making noises while turning the wheel all the way to one direction. Lifters are clattering all the time while driving the vehicle. There is a clunking noise while making a right turn.

48 Frame And Members problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Failure Date: 07/16/2003

On my 1999 chevy ext. Cab silverado the rust started about 5 years ago and now it looks like a 70's model. The frame of the pickup is so bad you can not even lift it by the frame anymore. I'm afraid that the frame is going to brake while I am driving down the road with my kids in the truck and get in a bad accident. I contacted chevy and they will do nothing for me. This truck should not have been rusting this bad 5 years ago. It's always the little guy that gets the shaft until someone gets hurt. Please help me out.
