I purchased a 2015 chevy silverado with the extended warranty for my son. At 44000 miles he noticed the paint peeling. I took it to the dealership where purchased and spoke with the body shop supervisor. He told me the truck had been painted twice at the factory. At this point, gm offered me 1000 dollars of the cost to repair the truck. I contacted gm executive branch and after research was told the truck had no history of being painted twice and there offer stood at 1000 dollars of the repairs. So, I went to three different body shops and they all told me the truck had been painted twice. The last shop I went to even measured the thickness of the paint to prove it. Any help appreciated.

About a couple months ago I started noticing paint peeling off on the lower half of the doors, driver and passenger of all doors and also on the sides of the box. My truck is 3 years old with 59,000 miles now. I went to the dealer today and they said I should contact Chevrolet directly. There are a lot of other Chevrolet trucks the same year and even newer trucks having the same issue. I have had mud flaps installed since the truck was new( the dealer blamed it on rock chips without even looking at the truck). I had to start complaining somewhere right!!.

Paint is peeling really easy on the bottom of the passanger side and a little bit on the driver side. Paint peels really easy. For only 34,000 miles this is not normal. Dealer said there is nothing they can do.
The paint in the bed can be peeled off by hand.
Bought the truck 16 Nov 16 in idaho. Noticed at the end of Jan/early Feb '17 that paint chips/knicks were starting to appear all over the truck and in places where the only way you could see them was to the open a door (I. E. Not even exposed to the road). After making numerous inquiries to local gm dealerships, all of whom said it was sand damage, I started doing research. Turns out, I'm not the only person with this issue on their trucks. It appears the issues with paint on gm (both GMC and silverado) trucks started around mid to late model 2014 trucks and persists to this day (see attachments). Additionally, my local dealership here in reno, I have found out, has been lying to me; they told me they submitted two separate requests to gm for the truck to be repainted as they agreed with me (in-person and via phone) that something is wrong with the paint. It turns out, this is all a farce. The two requests they submitted stated, "customer has been advised to file a claim with their insurance as damage is caused due to sand damage. Customer insists dealership submit a claim to gm for warranty re-paint". Whilst I'm paraphrasing here, I was livid to learn this was 'their behind my back kind of thing'. Prior to learning about this shenanigan, I thought for a second that perhaps the dealerships could be correct, maybe it could be damage from driving. So, I took it to three separate repair facilities in the area and all of whom said the same thing, verbatim, "the clear coat is too hard, it's like glass. Factory defect". Well, that confirmed it. Lastly, I have just recently contacted the dealership from which I bought the truck (idaho). They advised me at 1352 on 23 may 17 to escalate this issue beyond gm. And that's why I'm filing this complaint folks. Do your homework before buying any new gm product.
Paint around 3rd brake lt. On back of cab is bubbling & starting to corrode. This is the only spot on the entire truck where this is happening, it is plain to see that it is being caused by a defect in the seal between the brake lt. & the cab of the truck. I am not sure when this started to erode, but in Feb. 2017 is when I took my truck in for service is when I noticed how bad the paint was bubbling around the brake lt. . From the looks of the damage & from what the body shop repair person stated, this has been eroding for a months.

Paint is peeling on roof. Has been for well over a year. Gm dealer said it was from a stone bruise, and I was out of warranty period. Peeling above windshield is from drivers side all the way to passenger's side. Hood is now starting to peel.

The paint on body of truck chips and scratches as well as has deep swirls. It is just now a year old and the front end, hood, sides all have been subjected to chips and scratches that should not be happening at all. I hand wash my vehicle so it is not caused by a car wash. The paint in other blogs with Chevrolet has been known to be very faulty due to epa regulations. Any other car I have had has never had this issue. My daughter has a black Jeep, no problems, I had a black Jeep, no problems. I paid the most I have ever paid for a vehicle again black and the paint job is horrible! sadly it is something well known for Chevrolet.
