2005 replaced rear brake line had corroded through less than 40,000 miles on 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 regular cab. Also noted driver side rockerpanel rusted through. 8-2011 gas tak strap both completely corroded through dropping gas tank on the ground. Noted during replacement that truck bed cross members are rusted or rusting through so bed will no longer be attached to anything once completely corroded.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, gasoline began spewing from the fuel filler neck while refueling. The only way the contact was able to refuel the vehicle was to slowly pump the fuel for three seconds before allowing the fuel to drain into the tank for approximately 10 seconds without pumping. The failure recurred whenever the contact attempted to refuel the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that they would have to reposition parts of the fuel system to remedy the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 110,000. Updated 03/29/11.

I have a 2007 chevy silverado and the gas gauge has been acting up for about a year now. I can fill the truck all the way up with gas, drive it home from the gas station(7 miles) and the gas gauge will be reading about 3/4 tank. When I go to drive it the next day it reads 1/2 tank then by the time I get to the interstate (15 miles away) it will be between 3/4 and full. I love the truck but wish chevy would put a recall out on there sending units because I know people with the same problem and have seen many complaints about this same issue.
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at speeds of 15 mph in snowy weather, the gas tank straps rusted and broke causing the fuel tank to fracture from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for repairs. The dealer was contacted and advised repairs to the fuel straps would be outside of factory warranty and repairs would be at the owners expense. The manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The failure and current mileages were 126, 544.
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 55 mph, the contact heard a loud banging noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. He was able to safely reach his destination. Upon further inspection, he noticed that the front fuel tank strap failed. He did not notice any prior failures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that there was no current recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer would not provide compensation. The failure and current mileages were 213,060.
2005 chevy Silverado 1500 experiencing erratic fuel gauge readings. Vehicle has approx. 25k miles and has been acting erratically for about 2 weeks. Fuel gauge, fuel light, and text display seem to be in sync, so it may be that the problem is originating from the tank or the computer. Either way, it's nearly impossible to tell how much fuel I have at any given time. . . Even after a fill-up. In fact, I just filled up yesterday and the gauge showed empty with the fuel light on by the time I got home. Once in the driveway, the gauge rose to half-full. This is a serious problem. Living in alaska, knowing the vehicle's fuel status is critical, especially in winter when the safety of a warm vehicle may be the only protection from the elements.
My gas gauge is going crazy, I filled up my tank as usual and when I started the truck it went to full then to empty. Now the gauge fluctuates all the time so im not sure how much I have.
Automatic transmission failed at 58000 miles. This truck was never used for towing. The reverse went out backing out the garage. Also, the vent and vapor sensor for the fuel tank failed. I was told there have been many updates for the transmission.

I just bought a used 2006 Silverado 1500 from a dealer. Went home with a full tank of gas, week later went to fill it up and the needle stopped halfway between 3/4 and full and it would not let me put it in. Truck had 14650 miles on it when it started and now has 16450. Still under warranty and has been to the dhop 6 times and they have replaced every part of the fuel system and still no better. The next step is to bring a gm rep in to determine what is wrong.
Fuel gauge failure and false fuel level readings would lead to possible empty fuel tank, and being stranded away from services. Replacement of fuel gauge sensors at a high cost place on the owner of a manufacture defect in product or design.
1. No events noted. 2. Check engine light illuminates and stability traction control light illuminate periodically. When ever the traction control light is on, there is a very sharp jolt in the rear end whenever the vehicles start moving. 3. Taken into the dealer twice now. No remedy. Stated they through it was the fuel being used. So I have ran several tanks of fuel through it now and it still has the lights. I have made sure I purchased fuel from large dealer such as shell or conoco to make sure fuel should be good. I will take the trunk in again this week.
My fuel gauge floats back and forth after the vehicle seats idle the fuel gauge will read empty and the low fuel warning light will come on. It does this even if the tank is full of fuel. This has been going on for several months.
The fuel tank fill neck is lacking the proper rust inhibiting coatings this then is causing the metal neck where the fill nozzle enters to rust out. . This causes gas vapors to escape the fuel tank. Also the ground strap is of poor construction. This then corrodes into dust. . . These facts will on an unsuspecting vehicle owner cause a potential explosion/fire when refueling. . .
