I have 2005 chevy 1500 ext cab and when I go to fill the gas the pump just stops on me. I tried holding it half way everything it just keeps stopping. I have heard of others with this problem with the same truck so I just wanted to let you know.
We have had a significant amount of rust to the entire underside, trailer hitch, and both bumpers on this truck. To prevent it from rusting away, we had to have the cab and bed undercoated. We also had to replace the gas lines, as they were rotted out, which posed potential gas loss and safety issues.

Chevy silverado 5. 3 l engine. Reduced engine power message is displayed. Vehicle will not run above 20 mph. Must pull over and turn off engine and restart. This is a known problem by gm. Dealer tried twice to repair the problem but could not. I replaced the accelerator sensor and the throttle body but the problem still exists. This is very dangerous when it happens on the highway. This has been going on with my truck for about 18 months. Again, no support from gm. Many people are having this problem. There should be a recall.
Vehicle speeds up, surges, then starts to buck and you get transmission lash. It happens at road and highway speeds of 45 or 55 mph, and can/does happen in od or in 3rd gear. (automatic transmission). I have had a third party "scan" the system, and I get "no" codes. Check engine light does "not" come on. I am able to replicate the issue at will. The vehicle is a 2004 k1500 with 46,500 miles. Its primary use since I purchased this vehicle new is to tow a 19 foot mastercraft from April to November. Maintenance is performed by the manufactures' recommended guidelines. Orginal tires, air and oil filters have been changed as needed. No aftermarket devices installed. I have had a couple of verbal encounters with chevy dealer service department. They seem to be clueless. But are willing to troubleshoot at my expense, plus costs of all parts and service hours. This could $1000. 00 or more. . . . Very frustrating. This is a hazard, accident waiting to happen. I have seen several similiar issues on the internet blog sites, with no concrete answers. Gm is scamming the public, and the gm service departments are passing the costs to the consumers. There should be a recall and a fix for this issue.

Just bought a 2003 chevy silverado 4x4 with a 5. 3lt engine . Problems with the fuel gauge, it worked when test drove at dealer and after buying the truck it stopped on the way home!!!! been told it will cost hundreds to fix !!!! after researching on the net I have found that this is a common problem with gm trucks, and not only with 2003 trucks but many of other years!!!!!!!! and also some car models now with all the problems people are having this cannot be a coincidence!! if you want proof just read the gm forums it's amazing how many people are having gas gauge problems !!!!!!!!! I do not understand why there is not a recall on this, as well as all the people on a number of gm chat forums, everyone is wondering why gm (government motors)have not sent out a recall either !!!!!!!! I did not buy a truck for thousands so I could turn around and spend hundreds to get it fixed, when it's actually a design problem !!!!!!!! they do a recall for the gm tailgates but not for something as important as a fuel gauge ?!?!?!?!?! do some research and you will understand what I am talking about !!! thanks for your time and I hope something can be done about this expensive problem soon.
Fuel gauge failure. Dashboard needle gauge sitting at the 5 o'clock position and not responsive. Have not taken it in for repair yet. Just happened. This is the second gm truck I've owned where the fuel gauge has broken. The other was a '97 jimmy.
I have had to replace my fuel sending unit/pump twice. Why do they keep failing?.

I had to replace the cannistor evaporation solenoid because of repeated check engine sensor. This cost me $330. The mechanic told me this is a retrofit part that chevy has come up with which tells me that chevy is fully aware of this very common problem with this truck. I know of 4 other people who have the same truck and the same problem. I want chevy to reimburse me for this repair.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated there was an overpowering gasoline odor from the interior of the vehicle as the vehicle was abnormally consuming fuel rapidly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer nine times. The vehicle was never repaired and the contact stated that the dealer would never inform him of his findings after examining the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where he was advised that four of the cylinders had no compression. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure continued to recur. The failure mileage was 7,000 and the current mileage was 19,932.
Fuel gauge erratic. Says low fuel upon fill up. Doesn't stay settled to give good fuel reading.
- the contact stated the vehicle was idling low. The vehicle has been taken to a repair shop to be adjusted once. Since the adjustment the gas mileage has gotten worst. He said the vehicle is running at about 1000 rpm to warm up.

Several years ago my fuel gauge began acting up. It would flip quickly to the "no gas" position periodically and then flip back several minutes later. The low fuel light would go off and on. When I fill the truck up it always flips to the empty position and then begins it's back and forth flipping. I have trained everyone in my family to always reset the mileage indicator and watch it carefully to insure they don't run out of gas. I've had numerous cars over the years (Honda for 20 years) and have never experienced a problem like this. At the present time, two people I know with the same truck built the same year or within a year of mine have the same problem. I'm wondering why a recall has not been issued for this problem.
Throttle body sticking at low speeds throttle sticks until pedal is pushed beyond desired point causing vehicle to surge forward. I hit garage wall. Exact problem occurred at 30,000 miles, dealer replaced throttle body(bad bushings) under warranty.
First incident of the fuel sensor failing (low fuel light and fuel gauge indicator false) was at 45,500 miles which was covered under warranty the first time. 2nd time failed on 02/16/2009 at 133,697 miles which costs me 754. 67. 3rd time which is currently starting to act up again at 174,500 miles, and will probably cost me another 754. 67!! first of all I can understand once on a vehicle but 3 times is ridiculous, not to mention the expense! Chevrolet should have had some type of recall on this or least figure out what is causing this. No doubt this is a defect with this part and very expensive to repair. I'm about to get rid of this vehicle due to this problem which will still cost me money in the end with trade-in or selling it myself so I will probably have repair it for the 3rd time. I have researched this problem and it seems a lot of people have experienced this issue. I have lost faith in gm and will probably never purchase another one. This issue could be dangerous if people do not correct this problem. Not everyone has 750. 00 laying around and gm should fix for free especially when it happens a 2nd, 3rd time!.
