1 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 11/29/2017

Randomly while driving, warning bells & lights flash, message in dic state service stabilitrak/traction control. Instrument cluster goes dead, a/c quits cooling & radio quits. If the vehicle is in motion it will continue to be drivable. As soon as you stop or are stopped when it occurs, the transmission stops working. The engine continues to run, and can be revved however the vehicle will not move. After turning off the ignition, opening the driver's door and waiting a couple of minutes, you can restart the engine, the gauges and transmission will once again operate. It has now started to periodically cause the driver side low beam headlight and driver's door lock to not function as well.

2 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

The speedometer is very erratic sometimes showing a faster speed than traveled sometimes a slower speed or no speed at all the odometer has since quit working and displays odometer error where the mileage should read. And now the engine water temp gauge is dead pointing straight down where there are no numbers and never moves. Dealer where I bought the truck new says they have repaired quite a few of these and will cost around $350. To send it out to be repaired by a qualified repair place. I think g m should stand behind such a problem and recall these trucks to fix them.

6 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 12/24/2009

One by one, the gauges on the dash have stopped working, starting with the engine temperature gauge. Then the fuel level gauge, speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, and finally the transmission temperature gauge all went out, leaving only the battery voltage meter working correctly. I know at least three other people living within 20 miles of my house that have also had this problem with their 2004 silverados.

7 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

8 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Instrument cluster failure (speedometer, oil pressure, etc. ).

9 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 10/13/2009

Oil pressure gauge quit working in about 2009. Took into dealership and was told we were 4,000 miles past the recall of the cluster. Very expensive replacement!! since that time the speedometer quit working, the tachometer quit working. Very scary to be having to rely on temperature gauges that I hope are working correctly still, and a gas gauge that hopefully is also working correctly. I cannot believe they did not submit a full recall and replacement of this instrument cluster without an expiration on it. Seems like this is a huge safety issue to me to have non working gauges due to a factory defect!!.

10 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 08/28/2009

Gm pick up trucks have what in my opinion is a safety issue with instrument clusters failing. One can be cruising along and all of a sudden the speedometer goes crazy. Mine registers 120 mph at all times. It puts one in unknown territory when in heavy traffic not to mention not knowing when one is speeding. Further one does not how much fuel they have or if their vehicle is overheating. Gm sent letters to owners of these vehicles indicating that they would replace the cluster if it went bad before 72000 miles. They know that any or all of the clusters are prone to failure and gm should be required to issue a recall and correct this problem at no cost to the owner. The local gm dealer tells me that it is about a $300. Fix. Gm should not be allowed to get away with selling vehicles with such potential safety issues.

11 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 10/31/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that the transfer case was designed with a defect. As a result, the pump in the transfer case wore a hole from the inside to the outside of the transfer case. This allowed the oil in the transfer case to pump out the hole and caused the transfer case to run drive. The dealer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and the contact would have to pay for the repair. The failure mileage was 130,000. Updated 3/16/09 the power steering started leaking fluid. The dealer informed the consumer the power steering fluid leak was coming from the hydro booster onto the power steering gear. The consumer lost his brakes. It was discovered the booster rod was missing. The parking brake did not work and the instrument cluster failed as well. The speedometer did not work it was reading 60 mph even when the vehicle was parked. Updated 03/18/09.

12 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 09/15/2007

Taking my son to school and while driving past the high school, I noticed my speedometer was showing me driving over 70 mph. Concerned that I was traveling too fast and worried about getting a ticket, I slowed very drasticly to slow down to the posted (during school hours speed limit), causing a near traffic accident from vehicle behind me. Mean while, young high school student were distracted while crossing the road because of my abrupt speed change. After slowing down, I notice that while almost stopped, my speedometer was continuing to show speeds over 50mph. This all happened with my milage showing around 85,000 miles. The next day, I recieve a notice from gm saying that the vehicle may experiance speedometer problems and that gm will repair the problem with vehicles less than 70. 000 miles. Since then I have been to the dealers and have heard price from $750 to $1200 to fix the problem. I have been driving very careful and been waiting for gm to recall all trucks with the problems. I am tried of waiting and feel that I am at risk for not having the proper speed shown. Meanwhile, my oil pressure gauge is failing which cause enging alarm to sound and I can no longer trust my fuel gauge because it will show half full when it is completely empty. These are all safety problems in my eyes.

13 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 12/07/2006

Instrument cluster failure. The cluster failed within the first six months and was replaced under warranty. The replacement cluster failed a year later. The service writer told me that they repair the clusters they replace and sell them as new. I was also told that they repair the specific problem with the returned cluster and that the clusters are subject to fail again. If the cluster is replaced as new it should be a new unit. I was told that the replacement cluster was sold without warranty and that it could fail again. The tech that worked on my truck said that he replaces these clusters often.

14 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 02/08/2005

2003 silverado instrument cluster is failing. First, 2 yrs ago, it was the tach failing now it is the speedometer and the others are not functioning correctly at times. I did receive a letter from gm 2 weeks ago went to the dealer, they would not do anything because I have 87000 mi on it. Call gm and they said it is up to the dealer. That doesn't sound right! is there anything that can be done? did gm put it to us again?.
