1 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 01/09/2026

I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.

2 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 12/13/2025

The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 12/10/2025

Transmission lags and slips while over reving the engine. A local gm dealer has confirmed transmission issues and slippage.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 12/10/2025

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that the connector for the heater system was causing the vehicle to overheat, subsequently enabling the vehicle to go faster than 50 mph. If the vehicle reaches 75 miles, it would immediately decrease in speed to 5 mph. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed a p20c1 code, indicating reductant heater failure had occurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the dealer, who recommended calling the NHTSA hotline to file a safety complaint. The manufacturer was informed of the failure they also referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 11/10/2025

Had new western wideout snowplow (recommended by western) installed by western dealership on a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd with the factory snow plow prep package (rpo vyu). Vehicles instrument cluster, hvac, radio and other electrical systems cut out while operating snowplow. Gm is well aware of this issue per gm service bulleting no. : pit5387c (Feb 2016) through pit5387p (10/17/2024), as well as gm upfitter integration ui bulletin #124k (11/7/2019). All list this specific vehicle. This issue effects snowplows by all manufactures and is not confined to western. Per the above bulletins published by gm, gm is to supply and install a wiring harness under a unique one time warranty procedure that does not expire with the vehicles base warranty. Gm dealerships as well as gm's consumer assistance hotline state that gm part number 84043394 (fitting 2014-2019 vehicles) referenced to in pit5387c and other bulletins has been discontinued. Up bulletin 124k refers to and instructs to install gm part number 84288774 vyu snow plow jumper harness per the latest version of gm service bulletin pit5387. With a note stating "this jumper harness and installation will be provided (one time) without charge". Gm dealerships and gm customer assistance (parts) state that pn 84288774 does not appear in their parts system as a valid gm part. The official gm parts store part. Gmparts. Com lists this part but shows that it does not fit this vehicle. Therefore neither gm nor western is able to provide any actionable solution to this known and documented issue. Gm manufactured, sold, promoted, advertised and continues to state that snowplows can be installed on these vehicles with (or without) gm's factory snow plow prep option. Additionally gm continues to issue and publish bulletins instructing gm dealerships how to fix this issue despite being fully aware of this impossibility. Gm has also made it impossible for gm to honor gm's own warranty that is still in effect for a known safty issue.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 11/07/2025

The vehicle was in a collision that occurred to the front of the vehicle causing the seat belts to lock up a burst of compressed air to come from the dash, the hazards to engage and the dome lights to engage, the vehicle then was taken into get repaired at a certified dealership, after dealing with the dealership and general motors we find out the sensor did engage for the airbags to deploy but the airbags failed to deploy properly or break through the dash, the dealership and manufacturer are now not wanting to find out why this is doing this and just put a new airbag baffle in and call it a day.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

We believe that it is the park sensor in the column . When you place the truck into park, the screen displays the words shift to park period and the dinger. Inside the truck continues to ding for a long time, even with opening and closing the door . . . The truck is actually in park, so it does not move. But the display says it's not. And apparently it is not registering because it keeps dinging.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

There are recalls on other chevy with different VIN numbers. On this truck the automatic tail gate keeps ope ing and closing and opening when driving down the road, I have been lucky not to loose stuff out the back when it decides to open while driving down the road.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 07/14/2025

Tailgate going up and down on its own when in park. Now it will not open at all. There is a recall #n232426400 but dealership says it is not listed for my truck.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 06/29/2025

Instrument cluster stopped working, I have no speed or fuel remaining indicators. Dealer completed software recall work which did not fix the issue. Replacement is on back order so I am unable to drive the vehicle for an unknown amount of time.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 06/29/2025

See recall n232426400 or customer satisfaction recall n232426401. My tailgate opens on its own and the button has quit working manually. My truck is apparently not a part of the recall?.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 06/22/2025

Truck keeps losing trailer brakes, intermittent as I am towing a 10,000 lb camper. Very unsafe.

15 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 06/11/2025

While towing our camper, the trailer brakes constantly turn off and on. The camper dealer already checked over the camper wiring, and hooked it to Ford and ram tow vehicles and could not replicate the problem. The problem is obviously with my silverado. For the additional details below; - the approximate date is anytime and everytime we tow the camper. - there could be a crash anytime the trailer brakes turn off. - a crash due to no trailer brakes could cause a fire. - an injury or fatality would be highly likely if the trailer brakes "disconnect" at the wrong time causing a crash, with or without fire. - there would most certainly be a police report if any of the above happened.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 06/02/2025

Following vehicle startup, the entire audio system defaults to a muted state, affecting all sound output channels. This includes, but is not limited ?critical safety alerts: seat belt warnings, system malfunction indicators, and door ajar chimes. ?proximity and collision warnings: parking assist chimes, rear cross-traffic alert (rcta) warnings, and backup collision intervention (bci) alerts. ?communication systems: navigation prompts and hands-free/bluetooth call audio. ?the audio failure persists until manual user intervention or the next vehicle cycle, disabling critical warning redundancy. ?safety implications ?the system-wide audio failure directly compromises the safety of vehicle occupants and surrounding pedestrians in two primary ways: ?risk to pedestrians: the silencing of proximity and backup collision warnings (rcta, bci) removes a vital layer of redundancy, significantly increasing the risk of striking vulnerable road users, such as children, while maneuvering in reverse. ?impaired driver safety & compliance: the defect also removes essential alerts like seat belt warnings and renders the mandated hands-free communication system inoperable, forcing potential driver distraction or non-compliance with driving regulations. ?conclusion ?this audio muting defect is a critical safety failure that disables mandated auditory warning systems, severely limiting the driver's ability to operate the vehicle safely and respond to immediate, unseen hazards. Immediate investigation and resolution are necessary.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 06/02/2025

The tailgate on my truck is electrically opened & closed. I've been having trouble with the tailgate opening randomly, even while driving. This has happened multiple times and can create a very dangerous situation, especially if I'm hauling something in the bed of the truck and it could possibly fall out if the tailgate were to open. Once I was hauling a bunk bed and the tailgate opened without me knowing it. Fortunately, we were driving through town on a flat road when it happened & nothing fell out. Someone behind me pulled up beside me to let me know my tailgate just opened. I recently took my truck to my local chevy dealer & they said there was no recall on it & they wanted $170 for them just to look at it. I looked online and see recall# n232426400 for it but I've never received a notice & the dealer says there is no recall on it for my truck. (I have a video of it opening & closing by itself but it's too large to send you).

18 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/29/2025

Tranmission isn't running right and gas and brakes are not working properly. Also fuel pump or relay gets hot shuts off while driving.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/16/2025

Tailgate randomly opens and closes on its own. It will continue to do so until I start the truck up and then it will start doing it again as soon as I open my drivers side door. Also, the tailgate will no longer open by the button that is on the tailgate. The only way to open the tailgate is to push the button on the remote. And if you do that, the tailgate starts opening and closing again on its own.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/14/2025

There has been serious problems regarding the stabilitrak system from gm motors.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/12/2025

When vehicle is placed in park the safety lock will not allow the key to turn to the "off" position and be removed. The vehicle will not turn "off" any further than the accessory position. Sometimes after turning the steering wheel back and forth while working the ignition the key will release. If this does not work after a minute or so, sometimes you can start the truck and immediately turn it all the way off and get the key to release. If all of that fails the last option is to disconnect the battery. It is an intermittent issue that will happen 5 times a day for a week, and then will not replicate again for a week or two.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/09/2025

Tail gate opens and shut by its self while I’m going down the road have dropped a couple things out and lost them could have been worse if some one hit by jack that fell out.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/08/2025

The tailgate would open and close on its own. I was about ready to connect my fifth wheel RV for a trip when suddenly as I closed the truck door to back up I saw that the tailgate had opened. I proceeded to put it in park and the tailgate closed on its own. Got out as leaving the door to the pickup I walked to the rear of the truck to notice the tailgate open and close on its own. I am expecting this issue to be recalled for a repair as I have read that 2024 has this same issue and that they will be recalling trucks from 2020-2024. The issue is due to a faulty relay when wet. This vehicle is equipped with power-unlatching tailgate. I believe if this issue would have went unnoticed and continued to hook up my fifth wheel the damage would have been horrific. Thanking you in advance, sincerely, james.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/07/2025

While pulling my vilano fifth wheel trailer to alabama from my home state of texas the driver information center alerted me that the trailer brakes were disconnected. Then a short while later it alerted that trailer brakes were connected. This situation continued for the entire trip to alabama. When the info center indicated trailer brakes were disconnected, they were indeed not working. Several times I almost rear ended cars stopping in front of me. (the vehicle had a recall notice urging to take it in and replace the brake module shortly after purchasing it. I did this. ) once I arrived in alabama I took the vehicle to the Chevrolet dealership in foley, alabama to check the braking system. They told me there was no problem with the braking system. I retrurned to my home in little elm, texas with the problem occurring the entire trip. I finally made it home and today took the vehicle to james wood Chevrolet in denton, texas to have the braking systme checked again. They told me there was nothing wrong with the braking system. The service writer did say that because the trailer has led lights the braking system does not recognize the voltage from the trailer and that is why the brakes are disconnecting. Please help me find out how to correct this extremely dangerous condition while I am towing my 16,000 pound fifth wheel trailer.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/06/2025

Very limited while driving in the dark cause head lights go off and can’t drive in the rain or snow cause wipers turn off not save for my family and I and other drivers on the road thai all happen, after the dealer (lithia Chevrolet of redding, CA) performed gm recall programming on the serial data gateway module (sdgm) and related software updates, my truck began having serious electrical failures. Immediately after the recall work, all exterior lights, interior lights, and trailer lights began flickering on and off while driving. The windshield wipers also pause or stop for a moment when this happens. None of these issues existed before the recall. This appears to be a module reset or corrupted calibration caused during the recall reprogramming. Gm has already told NHTSA that they have hundreds of field complaints about flickering headlamps on 2024 trucks, and they identified lighting flicker as a safety defect. My symptoms match those issues exactly. The dealer refuses to accept responsibility, saying the recall is “closed,” but the electrical failure only began immediately after their programming. This is a safety hazard when driving at night or in the rain, and it affects the trailer braking/lighting circuits as well. I have an active gm case opened for this issue. The truck is unsafe to operate in this condition. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the recall programming is causing electrical module failures and whether additional action is needed.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/02/2025

Power tailgate opening unexpectedly. Tailgate opens and closes without warning. The same issue that safety recall n232426400 describes.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 04/15/2025

The vehicle's tcm has apparently failed as evidenced by cel code "u0101", low power ("limp mode"), hard shifting, no gear selection indicator, and extremely slow acceleration. Vehicle is currently available for inspection, but will be receiving a replacement tcm soon. Myself and others' safety was put at risk due to my the vehicle's inability to continue through an intersection at a reasonable rate. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer/service center, nor has it been inspected by anyone since the incident. The aforementioned warning lamp that indicated the issue appeared upon starting the vehicle, which drove normally for the first 11 miles.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 03/31/2025

The tailgate on our truck keeps automatically coming down and up on its own. It doesn’t matter if the truck is in park or drive. It doesn’t matter if it’s locked or unlocked. It will do it several times in a row. It will go half way back up and then just slam down. Unfortunately we didn’t know this was an issue as we just bought the truck a few days before we noticed it happening and it fell down and hit something in our garage causing a dent and multiple scratches as it happened overnight without us being aware of the issue. It happens when I’m going down the road, which means I cannot use the bed of my truck as things could fall out. Also, I’m limited on where I can park it. We called gm and a dealership and there’s nothing they can do since it’s not recalled unless we pay to have it fixed. So now we have a new to us truck that’s now dented because of this issue. There is no warning it’s going to happen. After the tailgate comes down I get a notification saying tailgate down when I’m driving. This happens everyday, several times a day and we’re having to avoid driving it when possible due to this issue.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

The rear sliding glass/defrost has a defect in where is short out and overheats the contacts. This in turn get so hot that is start to melt contacts and all the plastic where the contacts are in addition the rear window shatters. Gm has a recall n192265660 but my VIN isnt included. Contacted gm they sent me to this site.

Intermittent loss of trailer brakes. Trailer has small break away battery.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 03/22/2025

I was driving my truck and lost full power to the truck. Which happened as I was pulling out of a parking. The truck went into a limp mode. With the truck losing full power, it put my child and I into a safety risk. The truck got repaired at the dealership. The dealer was able to reproduce the issue. The truck was inspected at the dealership. Warning system did come on saying speed would be limited if (roughly 150 miles to a max 65mph). When I called another dealership, they said this was a normal thing for these trucks and chevy hasn't fixed it. I feel like if its a known issue with the wiring becoming free, why would they not proactively fix this issue before someone gets hurts from thinking they have the power to drive. The dealership that I took this too knew where to look right away as this is common.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 03/22/2025

Intermittent lose of trailer brakes.

35 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 03/21/2025

My trailer brake controller routinely does not allow me to adjust the brake gain. Multiple times (and on recorded video), I’ve had instances where I could not increase gain while hauling heavy loads in the trailer and this has caused me to lose my ability to stop the vehicle effectively. This has nearly cause accidents a few times while hauling on the interstate, and down my mountain road. The driver must be able to adjust trailer gain at any point while operating the vehicle. This issue has happened with multiple trailers. I’ve taken the vehicle in multiple times and had the brake controller components replaced but this issue still exists and the dealerships are unable to resolve. I was informed I have trailer issues even though this only occurs in this vehicle while towing and not other vehicles pulling the trailers. This is a major safety issue and will cause an accident if it isn’t resolved. My only option at this point is to purchase an aftermarket brake controller as my factory brake controller is unsafe. I have multiple videos of this issue and nearly had the trailer push me over my mountain from the issue. This issue has happened since I purchased the vehicle and continues to happen. There are multiple service records which show I requested the brake controller to be fixed. This isn’t a one time date or speed. I’m unable to upload videos I’ve taken on my phone but I can send them in. Reach out to nickrone99@gmail. Com for videos. The manufacturer and service centers aren’t helping resolve this.
