Electrical System Problems of Chevrolet Silverado 2500 - part 2

The vehicle's tcm has apparently failed as evidenced by cel code "u0101", low power ("limp mode"), hard shifting, no gear selection indicator, and extremely slow acceleration. Vehicle is currently available for inspection, but will be receiving a replacement tcm soon. Myself and others' safety was put at risk due to my the vehicle's inability to continue through an intersection at a reasonable rate. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer/service center, nor has it been inspected by anyone since the incident. The aforementioned warning lamp that indicated the issue appeared upon starting the vehicle, which drove normally for the first 11 miles.

Gm issued recall# n232426400 and my vehicle VIN hasn't been identified. My truck tailgate does the exact thing the recall was issued for. Gm telling me they wont do anything becuase the VIN hasnt been identified, yet.

After driving truck. Attempt to turn keyed ignition off, they key will not move the the off position for removal. Must wait several minutes for the key lock mechanism to release then remove the key.

The tailgate on our truck keeps automatically coming down and up on its own. It doesn’t matter if the truck is in park or drive. It doesn’t matter if it’s locked or unlocked. It will do it several times in a row. It will go half way back up and then just slam down. Unfortunately we didn’t know this was an issue as we just bought the truck a few days before we noticed it happening and it fell down and hit something in our garage causing a dent and multiple scratches as it happened overnight without us being aware of the issue. It happens when I’m going down the road, which means I cannot use the bed of my truck as things could fall out. Also, I’m limited on where I can park it. We called gm and a dealership and there’s nothing they can do since it’s not recalled unless we pay to have it fixed. So now we have a new to us truck that’s now dented because of this issue. There is no warning it’s going to happen. After the tailgate comes down I get a notification saying tailgate down when I’m driving. This happens everyday, several times a day and we’re having to avoid driving it when possible due to this issue.

The rear sliding glass/defrost has a defect in where is short out and overheats the contacts. This in turn get so hot that is start to melt contacts and all the plastic where the contacts are in addition the rear window shatters. Gm has a recall n192265660 but my VIN isnt included. I was driving my truck and lost full power to the truck. Which happened as I was pulling out of a parking. The truck went into a limp mode. With the truck losing full power, it put my child and I into a safety risk. The truck got repaired at the dealership. The dealer was able to reproduce the issue. The truck was inspected at the dealership. Warning system did come on saying speed would be limited if (roughly 150 miles to a max 65mph). When I called another dealership, they said this was a normal thing for these trucks and chevy hasn't fixed it. I feel like if its a known issue with the wiring becoming free, why would they not proactively fix this issue before someone gets hurts from thinking they have the power to drive. The dealership that I took this too knew where to look right away as this is common.

Intermittent lose of trailer brakes.

My trailer brake controller routinely does not allow me to adjust the brake gain. Multiple times (and on recorded video), I’ve had instances where I could not increase gain while hauling heavy loads in the trailer and this has caused me to lose my ability to stop the vehicle effectively. This has nearly cause accidents a few times while hauling on the interstate, and down my mountain road. The driver must be able to adjust trailer gain at any point while operating the vehicle. This issue has happened with multiple trailers. I’ve taken the vehicle in multiple times and had the brake controller components replaced but this issue still exists and the dealerships are unable to resolve. I was informed I have trailer issues even though this only occurs in this vehicle while towing and not other vehicles pulling the trailers. This is a major safety issue and will cause an accident if it isn’t resolved. My only option at this point is to purchase an aftermarket brake controller as my factory brake controller is unsafe. I have multiple videos of this issue and nearly had the trailer push me over my mountain from the issue. This issue has happened since I purchased the vehicle and continues to happen. There are multiple service records which show I requested the brake controller to be fixed. This isn’t a one time date or speed. Intermittent lose of trailer brakes. Dealerships are unable to duplicate issue, will not replace under factory warranty. Chevy has not issued a recall for this specific VIN. But other 2024 chevy 2500 have had recalls for it. Would like a recall for my VIN die to this being an issue if an accident occurs. Traveling with multiple 10k pound trailers and no brakes.

Steering great box replaced steering still not stable, electrical glitches such as stability trac service message, hill assist, breaking assist messages pop up and then disappear constantly, power steering pump, hydro boost and master cylinder replaced multiple times, no sound emitting for seat belt, door chime , turn signals with no accessory mode power when key is turned. Vehicle has been in and out of shop for repairs and noone can figure out the sound or electrical issues and keep replacing the steering and power steering components. When using driver side window switch all dashboard lights increase in brightness then dim back down.

Trailer brake control module in vehicle will have intermittent loss of trailer brakes. Dealership stated they will not fix the issue if they are unable to replicate it. Even with video or picture evidence. Dealership has been uncooperative during the process.

Vehicle’s braking system for the trailer constantly disconnects while driving. The trailer will then lose all braking capabilities. Multiple service trailer brake system, check trailer wiring harness, trailer brake connected messages. Issues started shortly after purchasing the truck new at only 55 miles on the odometer.

Receiving service trailer brake system. Seems this is a known issue with truck and should be a recall that gm fix and not put onto customer.

Have had issues since purchase of paint chipping severely / cloudy. Transmission shudder and “jumped forward” when coming to a stop. Lighting system “blinked” or went dark and come back up a few seconds later while driving.

Day after driving to n a snow storm the vehicles stabilitrak and traction control light and message to service those came on the dash and a sudden lose of power. I pulled over and put it in park noticing the gear indicator on the dash was gone. I put in drive and could barely move. So I shifted to 1st gear then back to park and into drive and the light came off and it was back to normal. The next day I started the vehicle and the light was on again with the check engine light. And stuck in limp mode. There are forums I've read with thousands of people with the same problem. The vehicle is available for inspection. The safety concerns are the traction control and stabilitrak can affect the way it handles and brakes. The vehicle will be going to dealership. There where no warning light prior to. The lights and systems failed simultaneously. This vehicle only has 44000 miles on it, no rust the frame is mint. This is a very clean truck and shouldn't be having this kind of problem.

In certain GMC and Chevrolet models 2019 to 2025 it is common knowledge and easily found on the web that there is a manufacturer defect that does not allow the vehicle to be placed in “park” properly due to defective parts in the steering column that do not allow the vehicle to safely turn off fully. The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while her husband was hauling a trailer and driving 55 mph in the snow, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. In addition, the contact stated the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal before slamming into gear. The rpm fluctuated up to 6,500 rpm. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was turned off but failed to restart. The contact's husband stepped out of the vehicle, and the vehicle restarted automatically. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wiring was for a diesel vehicle; however, the contact's vehicle was gasoline operated. The contact was informed that the wiring harness control arm had rubbed against the control arm, causing the electrical system to short-circuit. The vehicle was repaired. The failure had progressively gotten worse. Most recently, the contact stated that the vehicle vibrated abnormally while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that a seal was placed on the transmission. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but denied assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Rear back-up camera is intermittent and is a safety concern due to the size of the vehicle. I makes it un-safe when backing up. This has been happening more and more. Screen is either black or icon displays that the camera is not working.

"n192265660 - customer satisfaction program rear window defroster thermal events - us only" rear window shattered after having the symptoms described in customer satisfaction program n192265660. Rear defroster would smoke/smell hot when activated. The symptoms were brought to the attention of the dealership prior to window breaking, but nothing was done due to the VIN not being part of the listing. Now I have no rear window and parts are on backorder with no eta. Not to mention this will be out of pocket costs that could have been prevented. This glass shattered all over my [xxx] old daughter. This has also been known to cause fires according to the bulletin. This should be a recall. If it already is a recall my VIN is certainly affected by this problem but is not listed. My VIN should be listed along with several others. This is a relatively common problem. Dealer refuses to work with me on a cost effective solution. No warnings other than the described symptoms that were brought to the dealer as previously stated. Approximate time frame was Dec 2022. Dealer did nothing due to my VIN not being listed as part of this program. Truck was parked in the garage when the window shattered. Engine code p10d9. Electrical harness to the def tank melted. My truck was not part of the gm recall but clearly effects more vehicles than they believe. See NHTSA report n212342980. Spoke with chevy customer service today and they stated the wiring harness melting is not covered under warranty. This is a fire hazard that gm should remedy. The recall is clearly larger than 38,000 vehicles. Are we supposed to drive the vehicles and not know if they will catch fire or not? I spoke with a technician at milnes chevy in imlay city today and he stated that he sees so many of these trucks that were not under the recall having the same issue with melted wiring harness.

The def heater short circuit and derates the truck. If the government says we have to have this they should cover the cost to fix it.

Vehicle gives "shift to park" warning when already in park. Occasionally, vehicle will not shut off. Once it does shut off, dash lights and controls do not shut off. Vehicle will not lock upon exit. Warning lights and beeping causes battery to drain. I have been left stranded with dead battery twice.

When shifting into park and turning ignition off a message appears on dash saying to “shift to park”. Vehicle will shut off but will not then shift, nor will steering will lock and ignition will not shut off. It is unclear if vehicle is actually in park mode. Vehicle has to be left running for up to several hours before transmission recognizes that it is in park and then ignition will turn off correctly. This issue has been experienced by many Chevrolet owners. Issue has been reported to gm.

So the electrical would be when I shut my truck off in park I cannot turn my key completely back to release the key so therefore I’m killing my battery leaving the power on as far as the tires they’re rated for 50 or 55,000 miles I have 37,000 miles and I have no tread left and as far as my drivetrain when accelerating onto a highway pulling my fifth wheel camper that is 16,000 pounds loaded the truck box really bad as far as the crash warning breaking system it does not break.

While driving I smelled burning electrical somewhere in the cab. Looking in the rearview mirror I saw smoke ciming from the corner of the sliding rear window. I pulled over and opened my rear door and heard a crack type noise. The smoke stopped and the drivers side rear window was shattered. Upon researching the issue I found a recall was done in canada and not in the USA .

The tail gate opens when parked and remote is on the counter. Tail gate now has damage from opening on its own and hitting the garage door. This has happened on multiple occasions and in multiple scenarios.

Vehicle will crank but will not start. Throws code u0109. Fuel pump control module is on backorder with no estimated time frame. I am not the only person this is happening to with a truck that we are making payments on and will not run.

We just arrived to our out to town destination and exited the vehicle. We drove 80 miles to get there. The truck was running when we noticed white smoke coming from under the hood then immediately large red flames.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, being driven, or parked, the audible alerts failed to operate as needed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,400.

I bought my track about a year ago. Within the first week of owning it. Multiple times a week, when I start it there is no sound. No radio, music, blinkers, etc. Absolutely no sound. Some of the time once I get to where im going, turn it off. Once I start it again it's back. The other times takes a couple times to hear it again. When I asked the dealership, I was told it's a known issue. 9 months later it still does it. Some weeks once or twice. Other weeks up to 10 times. I pd alot of money for my truck and yes I expect it to have no problems like this.

While driving with a trailer connected the display in the truck will say trailer disconnected. Then the light will go away and come back on. The trailer plug and the trailer are connected and the plug is tight. When this happens the trailer braking system is disabled (trailer has no brakes) I can plug the same trailer to Ford or Dodge with no issues. Have had the chevy to the dealer 4 times now and they are unable to duplicate the problem. I have researched the problem on the internet and there are a lot of discussions of other people having the same issue. GMC has replaced the trailer control module, but this did not fix my problem. I am at the point the dealer and GMC are giving me the run around. I bought this truck for commercial use and frequently haul trailers. It is very unsafe when the brakes on the trailer are disabled.

- electronic power steering assist malfunctioning. Available for inspection - vehicle jerks steering to the left or right at highway speeds, causing near miss accidents. - dealer performed alignment and did not know how to fix. They were able to replicate the issue. - no other inspection - "service power steering drive with care" message intermittently displays and almost immediately goes away. No check engine light or other warning lights.
