Brakes pull and wearout quickly. At 34,000 miles I'm on the 4th set of brake pads and 2nd set of rotors. I have been in several close calls due to the truck swerving while stopping or just not being able to stop as fast as other traffic. Dealer admits it's a bad design and suggests I buy a new truck as chevy has increased the size of the front rotors and put on good rear disk brakes.

When braking there is pulsation/ vibration. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated that front brakes were not working properly, cause unknown. Please provide any further details.
While in traffic started to apply brakes, and brakes started to make loud noises, squealing and grinding. Was able to stop vehicle. Had contacted dealership, who could not look at vehicle. Took to local service station, and mechanic indicated problem was brake pads which were worn out and rotors which were shot. Other set of rotors needed to be grounded down.
I had brake trouble on this car from day one. Many brake pads, two master cylinders, many shoes and drums. This vehicle is defective because it weight is too great for the braking system. I would like some help. Please call. My accident was caused by brake failure. Dealership where I live in kings mtn, now diamond Chevrolet admits. I took the car to the dealer in shelby, nc carter Chevrolet eight times in one year for brake problems.

Consumer experienced left rotar failure, on another occasion consumer stated that while attempting to brake to avoid being cut off by another motorist, the center hub separated from the rotor of the right front wheel causing the car to be thrown into the medial strip.

The vehicle shakes severely during hard braking. Steering wheel pulsates during normal braking. Dealer stated that a complete front brake job was needed. Vibration is caused by warped front rotors due to what the dealer calls "normal wear". Inspection of the front brakes shows less than 50% wear on the brake pads and no obvious defects on the rotors. This vehicle has never been used to tow anything.
I have had to replace the disc pad 4 times in under 10,000 miles, I have had to replace the rotors twice in the same amount of time. I am now facing another rotor and brake pad replacement. The rotors warp very quickly and the pads do not last, seems to always have some pull when brakes applied in normal braking situations. Also, the vehicle pulls hard and wildly in emergency braking situations.

Premature brake wear and left front pulling.
Vehicle had a brake problem. When consumer went to stop vehicle vibrated intermittently. Contacted Chevrolet, and Chevrolet stated it was the characteristic of vehicle, and wasn't anything they could do about the problems.
Rear brake drums were replaced by andy lewis Chevrolet , union city at mileage 8070. On 9/24/1999 again the front brake rotors left and right had to be turned due to steering wheel vibration when brakes applied at any speed and more noticeable when coming to stop. Bill heard Chevrolet in union city who bought andy lewis dealership refused to repair brakes under warranty when vehicle had only 22000 miles. At 25000 miles meadows motors agreed to repair again by turning brake disc. The warranty expires at 3 years/36000 whichever comes first. It appears Chevrolet has a latent defect in the brake system of Suburbans with the temper of the brakes. By turning the discs they only reduce the life of the metal and set up further warping. I would recommend with all the previous brake problems noted that NHTSA take a aggressive look at the brake system on the Suburban and require the manufacturer to replace the discs on repeat problems instead of adding to the problem by turning the rotors. I am a qualifed car/aircraft mechanic of 37 years experience with a background in new manufacturing of aircraft and have a extensive knowledge of metal heat treating and hardiness. Thank you for your time.
Premature wear of front brake pads/rotors.
The braking system starts to shake and vibrate as if driving on cobblestone road then braking system shakes violently from front of car this problem seems to happen only when temps are very high in the 100 degree range as we go to the desert often. This happens several times a year. The vibrations start as we are driving and you can feel the front end start to vibratethe gets worse, if the brakes are applied when this is shaking the whole car shakes voilentlyand is hard to stop almost makes the car out of control. This can go on for as long as 45 mins to an hour as we drive downthe road or freeway. Then it jusst stops shakin and does not ahppen again for a few days , but if we are still in the heat it wil happen again. When we get home and goto the dealer they cannot feel the problem so they say there is no problem my wife and children are affraid to ride in the car when we go on trips now. This problem must be fixed. I love this car and it suits my needs but this has to be fixed.
Failure of the front brakes, the vehicle was in motion and the front brakes smoked.
Excessive wear of front rotors and pads, causing vehicle to vibrate when brakes are applied. Dealer notified. Please provide further details.
Consumer experiencing excessive wear of the brake pads and shoes and rotors. Also when pads and shoes/rotors need replacing, the vehicle becomes very difficult to stop. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced parts. Please provide any further details.

Truck pulls hard to left when braking has had TSB 990524001a performed did not change anything I have contacted gm in detroit and received no help I have since discovered that this is a very comon problem on 3/4 ton Suburbans and cannot believe that a manufacturer holds no responceability to repair such a dangerous defect.
The brakes pulled to left while stopping when vehicle purchased. I took it back to dealer and they said to wait for it to "seat" in because it was a new vehicle. At 2400 miles I felt that was more than enough time and the problem still existed. The dealer lubricated the "slide rails" and returned the vehicle to me. Not long after I returned it back to the dealer again. They said that the pads were worn unevenly and this was the cause. They rotated the pads from left to right!! once again the problem returned, especially after the brakes were used frequently or at higher speeds (heating up). Eventually, while on vacation in florida, I had to take it to a dealer there because when another car pulled out in fron of me, the brakes pulled so hard to the left I went into the other lane. The dealer in florida stated that the rotors were warped and replaced the rotors and pads. I am now experiencing the same problem again. I have not taken it back to the dealer for the fourth (4th) time yet due to a transmission failure and having to take it back for a fourth (4th) time for that.
The brakes are squealing very loudly, indictating the rotors are getting hot. Master cylinder was replaced at approxmatley 5806 miles because brake fluid was leaking. Then front brakes were replaced at 9000. Also need to be replaced again at at about 13,000. Dealer claims the vehicle is too heavy for the brakes.
Front brake got hot, smoked, and squealed. Have had this problem back to Chevrolet dealer (frye Chevrolet, augusta, kansas) 4 different time in the last 5000 miles. Still gets hot and squeals. They cannot (or will not) repair?.
Replaced rotors once brake pads twice.
