The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. The contact stated that all four brake rotors have rotted, which causes the vehicle not to brake properly. Whenever he attempts to stop the vehicle, the brakes begin to pulsate and the vehicle fails to stop completely. He took the vehicle to the dealer on four occasions. During the first visit, the dealer stated that the rotors needed to be repaired, but that he needed to wait a little longer. The failure worsened and the vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time. The mechanic stated that they needed the manufacturer's approval to make repairs. During the third and fourth visits, a mechanic test drove the vehicle and stated that it was braking properly. The contact is scared to drive the vehicle due to the improper braking conditions. The failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 18,000.

We have a 2001 chevy Suburban with 26281 miles on it. On March 18 2006 we went on a 200 mile , round trip ride. Brakes were fine then. No indication of anything wrong. Stopping distance was the same no brake light illuminated on vehicle no noises coming from brakes at all. Everything seemed fine. March 19,2006 : backing out of our driveway to go to church. Stepped on brakes heard awful grinding noise. At this point the stopping distance did increase substantially and every time the brakes were depressed they would grind. Took to garage on Monday to have looked at. Needed to rotors and brake shoes installed on the rear of vehicle. At twenty six thousand miles this shouldn't have happened. Chevrolet said it is due to road salt but have lived in maine my whole life and have only had a rotor job done once before on a car with 1100000 miles on it. The dealer shere we bought the vehicle is 75 miles away, so I didn't feel safe driving the 75 miles to have the vehicle repaired there. They say talk to Chevrolet to reimbursement and Chevrolet says since warranty expired may 30 2005 and that I didn't take it to the dealer they will not cover any of the repair cost. Rotors should not be wearing out at 26000 miles. This is a safety issue that Chevrolet should be looking into.

I was driving on a two-lane road at about 30 mph when a sudden vibration occurred from the right front of the vehicle. I found that when I tapped the brakes the vibration would stop for a short time before recurring. I then noticed a severe decrease of braking efficiency. After I took the vehicle to the repair shop I was told that the right front brake disk had broken--and the "hat" part of the casting had separated from the disk part--resulting in the vibration and loss of braking power.

I took my 2000 Suburban to the garage before leaving on vacation in June of 2004 both back rotors needed replaced. Both were so rusted they couldn't be machined. They had to be replaced. Then in July of 2005 before going on vacation both front rotors were rusted. They must be replaced also. Because of the rotors being so rusted it caused the back brakes to become worn out and now they need to be replaced also. You spend over $35,000 dollars on a vehicle so you can be safe and have a safe vacation and before you leave it costs you hundreds of dollars. You would think that for the price you spend on these vehicles, that the company could at least use metal that would not rust and fall apart within 50,000 miles.

I own a 1998 chevy Suburban 2200 4wd. On 7/10/00, at 13. 000 mi the front rotors and pads and rear shoes were replaced by the dealer. On 9/13/00 at 15,000 mi the front disc pads, master cylinder proportion valve and caliper brake hoses were replaced per service bulletin. On 8/21/03 at 22,500 mi I had the front rotors and pads replaced with factory oem parts. On 10/11/04 at 27,00 mi I had to have the front rotors cut because of overheating of the rotors. Rotors displayed hot spots. There seems to be a significant recurring problem/defect with the front brakes.

While braking to stop in highway traffic on clear dry day, abs momentarily activated then released all brakes causing vehicle to rear-end tractor trailer. Subsequent inspection revealed catastrophic failure of right front rotor into two pieces with full hub separation. Pedal remained hard but abs prevented any braking.
While driving at 55 mph consumer pulled out of the road when hearing a loud noise coming from the front end. The right passenger side brake rotor broke. Mechanic replaced the rotor. The consumer was concerned about the left side.
Brake rotors have been grounded three times, and have been changed once. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further details.
Brake rotors warped causing reduced braking power and reduced steering control.
Rotors heat cracked so replaced--might be manufacture's defect.
Spoken to Chevrolet customer service. Dealer says no problem with brakes. Vehicle is under recall notice -- NHTSA recall 98v033000. Currently on third set of front brakes. Chevrolet area service representative, harvey myer has never followed up with complaint, customer service representative barbara fleming is helpful. Dealer worked on brakes when under warranty, refuses to accept NHTSA information.
4/00 rotors warped. . Dealer turned them. . 11,900 miles happened again. . Dealer service writer chris says I'm crazy and those rotors do not warp. . Needless to say I was not wanted in their dealership ant longer. . Brought it to romono Chevrolet, they turned rotors again! brought it back again for same prolem, now they tell me they don't feel the pulsation. I waited a month, brought it back today at 16,500 miles. We'll have to see what happens today. . I want rotors and pads changed, they will probaly turn them for the 3rd time which is unsafe!!.
Abs, when applying brakes, vehicle pulls very hard to right, in for repair rotors and disc pads in the front.
While driving and when depressing brake pedal heard a grinding noise. Had vehicle serviced. Technician stated rotors needed to be replaced. Please provide further information.
The problem is continued brake shutter and uneven braking. Uneven rotor wear.
We have returned our Suburban three times already for brake problems. The first at about 13k miles one rotor was replace because it was warped and the other was cut. At about 23k miles both rotors were found to be warped and replaced. Now at 30k miles the rotor were found to be warped and they were cut. Unpon bringing the Suburban home from the dealer the brakes almost failed completly. Takes four times the normal distance to stop. The next problem is a valve tap that has been there since the first day of ownership. There is a tremendous amount of valve tapping when the vehicle is first started it lasted about 15 to 20 second. It was return 2 or 3 times to the dealer before they admitted hearing it, then the response was it was normal. There has been a valve tap that has been there from the beginning even after the vehicle has reached operatiing temp. Every time it was brought back in for warranty work the valve tap was mentioned. No one can never hear it. At 30k miles they think they hear it now and the fix for a mechanical lifter noise is programming I am being told. My concern is the warranty runs out in 6k miles and the motor has had this problem from the first day. What is a person to do?.
Premature wear of brake rotors. Dealer has repaired vehicle several times.
