1 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/19/2019

While driving the vehicle at highway speeds northbound on the FL turnpike, the brake pedal became very rigid and would not allow me to press the brake pedal down as usual. Furthermore, I had to apply a tremendous amount of pressure on the brake pedal to engage any sort of braking whatsoever. In a split second, I had to pull to the shoulder of the highway and continue applying very hard pressure on the brake pedal until the vehicle finally came to a full stop. I turned the vehicle off, started it again, tried coasting and stopping the vehicle and the brake pedal continued to be very difficult to press and would not engage and provide normal braking pressure. I then had the vehicle towed to the nearest Chevrolet dealership and they diagnosed the issue as being a bad pump impacting the master brake cylinder. Parts are supposedly on back order with no timeframe given as to the repair.

3 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/29/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving from michigan to florida at 65 mph, the contact noticed that the brakes exhibited a really loud grinding noise when the brake pedal was depressed. He took the vehicle to a dealer in kentucky but, due to an ice storm, there was no electricity. Approximately 12 miles from his destination, the contact discovered that he had no braking power. He placed the vehicle into low gear and applied the emergency brake when necessary in order to reach his destination. He then drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic, who stated that all of the components appeared disintegrated on the front driver's side brake system. This was deemed as the likely cause of the brake failure. The rear and front passenger side brakes were functional in comparison to the front driver's side brakes. The mechanic repaired the driver's side brake cylinder, discs, and pads at the contact's expense. There had been no failures since the repairs were performed. The manufacturer stated that they could not assist because the dealer did not perform the repairs. The current mileage was approximately 42,000 and failure mileage was approximately 39,000. Updated 4/23/09 the consumer stated the left front brake was not releasing and therfore destroyed the entire brake system. Updated 04/27/09.
