Last week, I filled up my gas tank as usual. When I went to pull off, the gas light failed to go off, the gas needle did not move and the bell to indicate that the tank was empty went off. The dealer stated that it's my fuel sending unit and that he's seen several of these defect lately. . . And that I should check for a recall. Since, I've had to monitor when I gas up and how far I drive. . . Which is not only frustrating, it's scary! the needle now floats from full to empty and everywhere in between, but for the most part, it rests on e. Vehicle in question is 2005 Chevrolet trailblazer. . . This model is not given as an option in later screen where I entered "suburban". I own a chevy trailblazer. Thank you.

My wife and I have been very happy with the vehicle until a situation last year. Specifically, there is a known problem with the gas tank and gauge. The gas tank will be a 1/4 full but the car will not start because it thinks the gas tank is empty. My local gm dealer service center quoted me over $800 to fix this problem. It is a known gm defect. Gm's technical solution is document id # 1575648. It reads:
vehicle with flexible fule (rpo l59) will not start, stalls and will not restart, loss of power, poor performance, and /or fuel guage reads inaccurate/incorrect (replace fuel sender/module assembly) #04-06-04-012b - (Dec 6, 2004)
* replace fuel sender /module assembly with redesigned fuel strainer and /or redsigned fuel level senor
can you please help ?
thanks,
brendan and lisa o'reilly.

Engine quit just like shutting off of ignition switch. The problem turned out to be the fuel pump. While removing the fuel pump assembly noted that the attaching plug for the fuel pump had arced destroying the plug, and the wire supplying the power to the pump had all the insulation burned off and the wire was partially melted. This is a serious safety issue, as the arcing and melting of wires inside the fuel tank could cause and explosion if the fuel/air misture reached stoichiometric conditions.

Although their were no fatalities or injuries involved in reference to the master cylinder/ fuel pump, the lost of power brakes caused me to almost veer into a brick building. I hope the info provided will draw attention to the problems I've had since purchasing this vehicle.
Transmission: torque converter blew up. . . . . Fuel pump failed and had to be replaced, wiring overheated and insulation melted off inside fuel tank . . . . . Steering: erratic while making right turn.
There is a pin hole in the rear fuel feed hose, causing fuel to leak, consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer replaced the rear fuel feed hose.
While driving the vehicle, noticed a burning smell, pulled over and underneath the hood was on fire. Fireman stated that the fuel lines were on fire.

I believe it is bad business to have this many window motor complaints and not have issued a recall, in addition to have had this many problems on a year old vehicle is ludicrous. Chevrolet has lost a once loyal customer.
