3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 07/21/2011

Gas leaked from fuel lines which were crossed when vehicle was built as result rubbing occurred and lines ruptured causing fuel to leak out. Went to dealer first time this happened and wouldn't admit this is why the leak happened originally. Husband has patched a few times now while we wait for new gas lines to come from gm becaus we refuse to go to dealer and use our own garage. Hope new law goes into effect regarding that as well. Very dissatisfied and it looks like there was another complaint about this. Will not buy chevy ever again.

Failure Date: 04/04/2011

I purchased on 11/1997 a new 1998 Chevrolet Suburban 3/4 ton 2500 series. The Suburban has 38,528 original miles and has been garage kept since new. The vehicle has been used primarily as a secondary vehicle for recreational purposes. The Suburban has been driven in snow conditions only 12-14 times. I am experiencing excessive brake and fuel line corrosion on the steel brake/fuel lines, flexible brake hoses and connections. I am very concerned over the brake/fuel line corrosion issuea and have since learned that an investigation has been initiated by the NHTSA on 1/5/11, NHTSA investigation file no. Ea11001.

10 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/20/2003

2002 Suburban z71. The fuel filter on the vehicle is not the filter referenced for the vehicle in the owners manual. We were told that due to an engineering oversight, the filter was changed to the one we have. The problem exists in that quick disconnect is too close to the filter housing, and the normal removal tool cannot be used to remove the filter. Gm service personnel will tell you offline, that the best method for removal is sawing off the filter or crimping it off. With the gm customer service on the line - they are required to tell you that a special tool not available in automotive stores must be used to remove the filter. We finally received a reference to the sole manufacturer of the $35 dollar plastic tool. The tool only works by forcing 4 pieces of plastic through the small space and the up the neck. As stated, off line, the mechcanic will tell you that they cut or saw it off, and dig the filter neck out of the disconnect. The problem is obvious, but the solution is impossible. The hazard is that the true mechanic recommendation results in cutting metal on a gas line. In addition, with it being on the outboard side, on fragments enter directly into the engine.
