Chevrolet Suburban owners have reported 13 problems related to fuel injection (under the gasoline fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2000 Chevrolet Suburban. Truck refused to start-would finally start, then stall immediately. Took several tries to get truck running. Took to dealer-$800 to install new fuel pump. 2 weeks later, same problem. Back to dealer, new fuel filter (second in two months) and fuel injection cleaning. I researched internet and found that there is a problem with fuel pump. Confronted dealership who then admitted that there is a problem with fuel pump--and that they have to replace 2 - 3 per week.

Total loss of engine power and steering control and braking while at highway speed was caused by fuel control module shorted out and ecm-b fuse blown. Fortunately, my wife was able to steer the vehicle off the highway safely, but she and two passengers were terrified.
On March 30 my 2001 surburban quite running in the middle of a 6 lane highway in hattiesburg, ms. It would not crank again and even though I knew I had plenty of fuel the guage was showing empty. I was told that the fuse controlling the entire fuel operation had blown and after replacing it the dealership in hattiesburg said that they could not find another problem. Yesterday, April 11, I was on a 2 lane highway stopped for construction when it suddenly quit running again. I had an extra fuse this time but I had to get out in the line of traffic in order to open the hood and replace the fuse. When I tried to crank it again the fuse immediately blew. The vehicle again had to be towed to a repair shop. This time I was told that a wire was burnt and it caused the fuel pump to short and blew the fuse. I have not been told why the wire burnt and would like to know if you have had this problem reported with other surburbans.
Strong fuel smell detected, fuel injector and regulator leaking large amount of fuel on top of engine.
Fuel injectors are defective, and causing vehicle to stall at random. There is no permanent fix only thing dealer can do is clean injector. Very unsafe to have car just clog and lose all power on the highway at 65 mph. Problem is not fix and car is not safe.
Second time that fuel injection failed to operate properly. Vehicle been in/out of dealer shop on two occasions, and cause cannot be found. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter.
This is a chronic problem with my vehicle. It is not as wide spread as g. M. Would like me to believe. I know others in California with the identicle vehicle as me with no problems. G. M. Blames the government for the gas additives. I am the one who is stranded because of this problem. I bought a new vehicle for dependability. I have a car that can and will break down any where and at any time and I am still making payments on it. I have written to the heads of the corperate offices at g. M. With my concerns and complaints but they have yet to repond to me seriously. They have customer service contact me. Customer service people can not solve this problem!! I end up more frustrated after speaking to them. I know that they are only doing their job and can only do so much. I need a real solution to this potentially dangerous condition that my car had when I bought it. I want the dependability that I had expected, when I bought this car. For my safety and the safety of my family. Thank you for any assistance you can provide me with in this frustrating matter. Sincerely yours, karen ekizian. No safety defect listed.
