For the past 2 years my windshield wipers will fail randomly while using them during a rain storm. I will have to pull over and completely turn the vehicle off turn back on and they may start working again or restart a couple more times. I’ve taken it to the dealership twice over it and the one time it was when they didn’t work and no codes showed up. It just happened again while on the turnpike during a rain storm. It’s very scary because some roads you can’t pull over right away and it’s very hard to see when the windshield is completely covered and the wipers won’t work. A major safety issue. I wanted to take a video but it’s not safe when I’m driving and trying to see out the window. I have 2 little kids and currently pregnant so this is very scary with my kids in the car.

Yesterday marked the 2nd time that the front windshield wipers on my 2021 chevy Suburban (58k miles) randomly stopped working while driving down the highway in a rainstorm. They would not come out of the resting position regardless on what setting they were put to on the wheel switch. They continued to not work for the hour drive back to my house. The last time this happened all fuses, motor, etc were checked and tested good. The wipers started working again a day or so later, using the windshield wiper fluid button to test. This marks the second time my family has been put in a situation driving on the highway in a rainstorm with the wipers randomly stopping to work and having to navigate to safety with extremely limited visibility. This appears to be a fairly common issue with newer gm vehicles with the auto sense technology, found plenty of forums with the same experience. The major concern I have is that when this happens the wipers don’t work at all in any mode. Even trying to run in manual mode rather than auto sense the wipers will not move from the resting position. It leaves a driver with zero way to clear rain and see when this randomly occurs.
The wipers have stopped working on a least 6 different occasions. I have to pull over immediately due to not being able to see out the windshield. I try adjusting the switch through all the settings. I shut off the engine and restart the truck. I also turned off the rain sense function on the vehicle settings. Nothing I do will get the wipers working again. I have to wait for the rain to slow down to try to get to my destination. While I continue to drive, the wipers will start working again after about 15 or 20 minutes. The first time this occurred, they were only out for around 30 seconds before they started working again. It seems each occurrence is taking longer for the wipers to come back on. I took the vehicle to armen Chevrolet of ardmore on 08/05/2024 for service. They were not able to duplicate the problem. I was told to bring the truck back while the wipers are not working. That is a problem since this only happens intermittently. I fear for my safety and others if this happens at high speeds on a highway in heavy rain. I have another appointment on Monday 09/16/2024 to have diagnose the problem again.

Wipers quit working while driving through a rain episode. We tried to have the car to "reset", stopped at a gas station, stopped the car, we all got off and locked the car for at least 5 minutes. Still no wipers.

While driving on the highway at night during rainy conditions the wipers stopped in the up position, and at the same time, the headlights turned off. After a few seconds they resumed normal operation. My headlights were in the auto position and my wipers were also in the automatic setting. Being as that I was on a highway at night, in the rain, and going approximately 65mph surrounded by traffic, this was an extremely dangerous situation to be in. Without headlights and windshield wipers, my windshield was immediately obstructed and I was unable to see the road without headlights. More so, other traffic might have had trouble seeing my vehicle. This problem has not been replicated by myself or a dealer. It has been random in nature. When the incident happened, there were no warning lights on the gauge cluster or anything else inside the vehicle that seemed to be affected.
When putting vehicle in reverse, the screen for the rear camera will go to full intensity brightness. There is no adjustment for this, as the dashboard lights do not control the screen brightness. It is impossible to see out of the sideview mirrors with the windows up due to the reflection off of the windows. This is amplified even worse when it is raining at night. Gm had a recall for this problem on the previous generation Suburban, and it was corrected by a software update. I have had it at the dealer twice since buying it in June. They have confirmed the issue, but state that gm says this is normal. You shouldn't need to roll down windows at night in order to see out of your mirrors. When the vehicle is taken out of reverse, the camera will dim down to an appropriate brightness, but that is when the vehicle is in drive, and the screen returns to normal layout. There are numerous complaints on this specific generation vehicle on multiple forums across the web.

The drivers seat back is extremely lose. Moves forward and back with every brake and acceleration. The seat base also moves slightly, rocking left to right in turns. The suspension completely failed and had to be replaced. An unknown oily substance has been coating the inside of the windshield since the purchase of vehicle in 2015. Requires constant deep cleaning in order to see through windshield.

The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban is equipped with a wiper for the rear window. On an intermittent basis after the vehicle has gone through a car wash or after starting following a drenching rain, the rear wiper will not work even though it is switch on with the switch on the turn signal stalk. If the vehicle is restarted, the wiper will then work as if nothing had happened. Likewise, if the wiper does not work and you wait a few minutes, it will work as it normally should.

Rear tailgate glass has separated from the glued on hinges and dropped down on the drivers side. This appears to be an ongoing design, quality issue and has happened on a large number of SUV style Chevrolet vehicles as can be seen using a simple internet search concerning this issue.

This has typically happened when the vehicle was first started, though it has happened while the vehicle was in motion. At wich point the display remains blank and my not work untill after shutting down the vehicle and restarting it again. This is an intermittent problem.

The dashboard is falling apart and should a crash happen chunks of plastic could go flying through the interior. The upper dashboard right below the windshield cracks and falls apart. When moving or going over a bump it makes noise rattling around. Tried to go to the dealership but it's not covered as the vehicle is just out of warranty.

Earlier today, the dashboard on my Suburban spontaneously three crackswith no impact whatsoever. One of the cracks runs all the way from the windshield to the top of the dash above the steering wheel. The second crack splits off the first one and is heading toward the driver side window. This occurred while the vehicle was sitting in a parking lot, locked up and with nobody in the vehicle. Prior to this happening, there was no previous sign of cracks of any kind and the vehicle was parked in the shade under a tree for the entire day. In addition, it was a rainy overcast day and the ambient temperature was only about 70 degf.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving approximately 65 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers failed to function. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited until the rain stopped, and resumed driving. The vehicle was taken to randy wise Buick GMC dealer (2530 owens rd, fenton, mi) and informed the contact that the wipers were only good for one year. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the windshield wipers were replaced two year ago by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
When it is raining water gets into the blower motor of the hvac and short out the motor which can cause the defrost, heat, or air to stop working which is potentially a hazard. Water and electronics are not really friendly together. It has happened many times.

Windshield washer system only sprays the very bottom of windshield and cleans the bottom of the windshield completely smearing the remaining portion making it difficult if not impossible to drive and see the road and objects causing a significant safety issue for occupants of this vehicle as well as the traveling public. I found this defect while traveling at highway speeds. I attempted to increase speed to no avail. Ive made several inquiries to the dealership and to corporate with no resolution or suggestions. The dealership did bring a same type vehicle, year and model, and placed it along side my vehicle and the windshield washer system operate identical to mine. This defect was reported to the dealership shortly after I purchased. All documentation is in dealer and corporate computors.

Crack that has grown on the dashboard above the steering column.
Windshield wiper hoses (front & rear) self disconnected and I placed them back on several times. The last time I put them back in place, the hose broke off when I attempted to place back on the last time as the plastic connector had become brittle. No I cannot clean my back window and sometimes unable to clean the front windshield making it hard to see while driving.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving approximately 55 mph, the rear windshield wiper activated independently and all the warning indicators illuminated. While driving north on interstate 75 when I went under the bridge under pass some hit my windshield & has cracked it and the crack is moving.
Chevrolet tahoe/suburban and GMC yukon/yukon xl units with the "blind zone system" in the driver's mirror do not properly adjust. The adjustable mirror lacks the ability to aim high enough to properly see the road behind you. Comparing this mirror with the standard adjustable mirrors shows that the up and travel of the mirror is limited, perhaps by components located behind the mirror. This only affects the driver mirror and not the passenger side mirror. There is no way for me to properly adjust the mirror to provide proper visibility. Dealer service personnel verified the mirror and controls were not malfunctioning; it just wasn't able to adjust high enough.

No accident; however, I am 6'4" and when I am in the drivers seat I have to drive with seat all the way back. With the mirror fully out to view cars on the left I have to move my head over to the right to get a safe view of the lane and passing cars. Also I have the same problem viewing behind me because the mirror will not go high enough to see over a hundred feet or so. I have to bend my head down to see in the distant. Chevrolet was notified 2 times and I talked to them but they are unwilling to do anything about it. Only to say that is the way the vehicle is designed. An equivalent 1/2 pickup, same year, does not have that problem. All 2014 Suburbans that the dealer and I tested after I purchased the vehicle were the same as mine. I feel the is a safety issue because of restricted visibility. It is difficult in traffic because it adds another issue I have to deal with that is abnormal.

The seat belts will not retract when you lean forward and the wipers will work sometimes but most of the time they will not turn on. This reduces visibility while raining and if it results in a crash the seat belts may not work properly to protect the passengers.

Heard rattle and a wind noise as if a door or window was partially open. Rear liftgate glass passenger side hinge partially separated from window glass, allowing the strut which lifts the window up normally to push the top edge of the window up about an inch. What makes this dangerous is that if at highway speed, the wind could have easily caught the lifted glass edge and stress it enough to shatter and injure someone or damage a following vehicle.
