Two problems related to brake drum wheel cylinder have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated there was an increased stopping distance at a speed of 15 mph or less. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The vehicle was seen by a dealer. The dealer replaced the brake shoes and the cylinders, but the problem persisted. The service department suggested replacing the entire antilock brake system, but no further repairs were made. Abs intermidently working at slow speeds. Mechanic thought cleaning off the abs sensors would help. Instead mechanic had to replace pads, rotors,calipers and slides and wheel cylinder. My 1999 Tahoe only had 65,890 miles on 2/14/05 when repairs were performed. Cost $785. 00 and is well documented. Mechanic is gm certified and was surprised at the amount of repairs needed.
