Tahoe slams back into 2nd gear, gauges drop to zero and can only go about 5mph. The traction control and abs light comes on and the radio turns on and off by its self also the lock will go up and down. This happens out of the blue 3 times going highway speeds. The speedometer will go up and down as well. If I slow down to pull over and try to pick up speed to get over th gas petal seems to not respond. I've been fighting this issue since may of 2018 and it has been in the shop off and on many many times and is currently in the shop for the same thing. . I've already replaced battery cables, tried a battery, new fuse box, new bcm also found service bulletins that states the exact problem to the t and nothing works! you can go online and find hundreds of people that had the sales issue. But nothing seems to fix it. I have versions of it messing up because other people thought I was crazy that it had this issue and then I show them and they are like wow that is crazy!.

Our Tahoe has had an issue over the past 9 months. The engine unexpectedly stalls. This has happened twice while pulling out on to a busy highway. Very frightening. We first took this to the dealer on 8/15/17. They spent hours trying to diagnose and found nothing. The stalling continued to happen occasionally. Early December the stalling occurred while pulling in to our garage. We lost all power momentarily and it would not restart this time. I disconnected the negative battery cable and then reconnected it and everything worked fine again. We took it back to the dealer on 12/8/17. Iafter researching this more it seems numerous people are having the same issue. Traction control warning comes on when the stall occurs. This time I was more insistent that they fix this and explained my wife was scared to death to drive this. This time the dealer said that they have changed the negative battery cable on other customers vehicles and that has fixed the problem. My reaction was why didn't you tell us this last time and why isn't there a recall? so far this has fixed the problem. I contacted gm and they did not give me a straight answer on this proble. Basically they said we may have had a defective part.

On multiple occasions when accelerating, highway and subdivision streets, the vehicles trailer brake would engage and the car would become unsafe to continue driving. The vehicle's radio would also randomly restart, the instrument panel would flicker on and off and the power door locks would cycle up and down continuously. The only want to reset the vehicle was to turn it off for a little bit and then back on and the problem would go away for a little while. There are multiple accounts online of other chevy vehicles having very similar issues, all which seem to be related to the negative battery cable not properly handling the load and needing to be replaced.

I have had issues with my door locks going on and off for years and the dealer could never figure out what was wrong with it supposedly. I own a 2007 chevy Tahoe lt. I was driving home from work on 05/23/2013 at about 50mph when I lost power for no apparent reason. I was luckily in the outside lane where I could maneuver my vehicle off the road without getting hit from behind as quickly as possible. At first I thought it was a dead battery and the tow truck jumped me and it started just fine so I replaced the battery the next day. Then I tried to start it the next day and nothing electrical would turn on when I turned the key. Tow truck came again to jump me and I took it to the dealer and they said it was the battery cables right from the get go. The service manager has been there for 15 years and knew exactly the issues I was having. They replaced the cables to a cost to me of $500!!! he said that chevy knows it's an issue but because there aren't enough people experiencing it they won't do a recall. . Absolutely ridiculous!!!!! they are lucky my kids weren't in the car and that nobody was hurt because I would have filed the biggest lawsuit they ever saw!!!!.

We purchased a 2007 Tahoe in August 2012. Since this time, my wife and I have both experienced multiple electrical starting issues with the vehicle. A jump start or boost will often allow the vehicle to start. However, there have been situations where we have not been able to find an available boost. We have been stranded in parking lots, family vacations, work, and our kids games or practices. As noted in many of the complaints, the starting problems are intermittent and there are times a boost will not start the vehicle. In fact, we even began to lose power traveling at highway speeds during a family vacation this past summer. This is very disturbing issue for gm and their apparent inability or unwillingness to correct the problem. In addition to the starting / loss of power problems, a cracked dash and faulty cruise control is something that should not happen with the technology available. Based on a review of the complaints, it may likely be a battery cable issue. Gm must recall this known problem!!!.
While the vehicle is in motion, the door locks begin to cycle (up and down), the clock resets itself to twelve, static runs through the radio, the console lights (lighting, engine ck, stabilty control) flicker on and off and the transmission downshifts at will. The effect on the transmission is of particular concern because at highway speeds the vehicle abruptly slows down causing a potential hazard for the driver, its occupants, and others. Once the vehicle ignition is turned off, all power inside, dome lights, radio, etc turn off and the vehicle will not restart until the battery cable is moved back and forth and a connection is reestablished. This is the second time I have taken the vehicle to the dealer and they have been unable to replicate the malfunction.

I can be going down the highway running 65-70 mph and the reduced engine power light will come on and reduces my speed to 10 mph! I pull over, disconnect the battery cable and replace it, then I could continue for another week or so. Finally, I left the diagonstic computer in my truck and was able to capture the code p1125. The mechanic said to replace the throttle body. That was done in October. It ran fine for a while, but it started doing it again. The throttle body was replaced again! now, two months later, it's doing it again! no one can seem to fix the problem. Meanwhile, I am a female who travels the highways everyday going back and forth to work and I have been in several dangerous situations due to this problem that will not stop! as of now, I can not drive my truck and having to rely on carpooling again until it's fixed for the third time in the past 6 months. It also appears that several people are having the same problem with no results. Someone is going to get killed if this is not addressed soon!.

I took my 2008 Tahoe in for a dead battery it's been 4 months in were on the 5th battery every time I get into my Tahoe I don't know if it's going to start. On the last one it was scary I was driving on the highway at about 70 mph when the stability trac light came on and then my car shut down pulled over to the side and the car was dead had it towed to the dealer and the car started with no problem, I refuse to take the car and I called gm tech support and they took over my case with the dealer directly after 8 days at the dealer the gm tech calls me and said there was a bulletin tac #11062498 to replace all battery cables on the car, positive & negative battery cables, starter cables, alternators cables, and cables that go to the main fuse block. I've had my car back now for 1 week and so far it starting good. If my problem still continues to occur I will have no chose but to file for lemon law.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the electrical system failed, which caused the vehicle to stall. The contact also stated that while parked, the vehicle rolled away and crashed into another vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was confirmed that the battery cables failed and needed to be replaced. The contact requisitioned a third party to repair the vehicle but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign I. D. Number 10v240000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 60,000.
Second time the positive terminal from an delco battery has leaked causing the battery cables to melt. Acid leaks have caused rusting on the frame and near brake and a/c lines.

Battery case cracked, fluid leaked out and corroded and thus requiring replacement of the battery cables and the battery. I feel that the original battery cable is too short causing stress on the battery case at the cable mount to the battery, resulting in a cracked case and subsequent damage. Repair costs at dealer $285. 53. I see that investigation into this problem has already begun.

I am a paramedic in st. Charles county missouri, a suburb of st. Louis. In the months of November and December 2002 I responded to three crashes involving full size gm trucks. All the vehicles caught fire in the left side of the engine compartment after a moderate to high speed impact. The vehicles were involved in driver side off set impacts that lead to intrusion into the engine compartment. The vehicles were a 2002 4x4 avalanche, 2001 ext. Cab 4x4 silverado, and a 2002 4x4 Tahoe. The fire started near the battery and the fuel lines that run along the fram on that side of the vehicle. They also, all had the 5. 3l v-8. I was not able to look closely at the avalanche or silverado due to taking care of the injured occupants. I did look at the Tahoe engine and it appered that the battery cable had been severed in the crash. All victims were not trapped in the vehicles and the fire was extinguished by the fire departments quickly. I am very concerned due to having three fires in such a short time fram. I run probally 500 vehicle crashes a year and very few result in fires even when the fuel system has obvious leaks. I am very concerned due to having three in about a 2 month time frame. Please contact me if you need more info.

Battery post broke loose from battery and battery acid leaked from battery onto frame members and electrical wire harness dirfectly below battery with considerable corrosion to insulation. Dealer replaced defective battery under warranty with same battery model, but accnowledged that gm had redesign a new battery (plantinum) due to heat and virbration problems from 1995 to current on truck and SUV's. Dealer said that gm had not recall on existing batteryies or any policy to replace at owner request the old defective designed batteries with the new redesigned plantinum model. Dealer inc CA, , in montana and aaa acknowleged that these batteries are failing in large quanties. I filled a formal complaint with gm customer service on faillure of gm to recall and to offer new model battery to owners with failues. . . . Today no response on corrective action received for gm. Gm magaizne article also wrote on new improved delco plantinum battery's improved design for both heat and affects of vibration. Failure of battery appearently is cause by gm having added the second battery cable to the positive post which fails under normal road vibration due to the extra stress on the post assembly. Our dealer did not repair the damage to the frame protective coatings or the wiring harness.
The battery has a side terminal post. The positive cable keeps detaching from the terminal, allowing acid to be exposed, as a result, the vehicle has to be towed . Driver believed when driving on the highway vehicle poses a safety hazard.

The original factory battery leaked acid. The dealer cleaned off frame and the "steel" brake line to the right front wheel and then painted it. The replacement factory battery then leaked acid again in 09/00. This time acid leaked into battery cable "wrapping" causing corrosion of the entire cable. It also leaked onto the coupling on the "steel" brake line that goes to the right front tire. Now dealer has to replace the battery box and cable, fender well and the coupler on the steel brake line. I have a 96 chevy Tahoe. It has 37,000 miles and is, therefore, just outside the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I have talked to several other chevy truck owners and they tell me that chevy trucks have a problem with batteries. Though the battery is rated at 72 months, it only lasts for approximately 24 months. I have asked two different mechanics at the chevy dealer (macpherson Chevrolet) and they say that it is true - batteries only last about 2 years. They also admit that they replace hundreds of batteries, often repeatedly on the same vehicles. They also tell me that in their opinion it is a gm design defect that the manufacturer has chosen to ignore. I have now replaced the battery twice (this is the third battery in the vehicle). The first time gm paid for it under the warranty. The second time it was just out of warranty so I had to pay for it. I also had to pay for repair of a battery cable that leaking battery fluid had damaged. Though the dealer admits that the 72 month warranty is printed right on the battery, they say that the warranty ends with all other warrantees at 36,000 miles. That is gm policy and they showed me a memo from gm saying so. I had planned to keep this vehicle for a couple of years. However I do not relish the thought of having a very unreliable vehicle when I travel for any distance, knowing that the battery may go dead at any time. By the way, when this happens, due to the all electronic nature of the engine, nothing works - the engine dies, the power brakes no longer work, and the power steering no longer works, even at freeway speed. In my opinion this is very dangerous behavior. Thanks for your assistance, tom nickelsen.
