Body Problems of Chevrolet Tahoe - part 2

Vehicle was traveling on I-55 south between the gluckstadt and madison exits around 5:45pm on 12/21/18 when the sunroof exploded sending chards of glass throughout the entire vehicle. There were no other vehicles close by an no overpasses within 2 miles of where the glass failure occurred. This is a very serious safety concern that Chevrolet needs to be aware of. The sunroof glass was in perfect condition and nothing hit the glass to cause the explosion. I have photos of the damage clearly showing that the glass blew out from the inside of the vehicle, further supporting the fact that this was a factory defect.

After heavy rain I noticed that both of my back doors sounded like there was a gallon of water inside of them. I read that this is a very common issue! I can only imagine the amount of rusting happening inside of there as well as electrical damage & risks of having wet speakers & wiring inside the door. Unacceptable. This should be a recall.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the front driver's side seat belt severely cut into the contact's body. The seat belt became significantly worn to the point of a potential fracture with the seat belt webbing. Furthermore, the contact stated that the trimming on the front driver and passenger sides became detached from the vehicle's exterior. The trimming created a whistling noise and blew in the wind while driving various speeds. The contact rolled down the driver's window and had to hold the exterior trimming to the body of the vehicle to keep it from detaching from the vehicle completely and striking other motorists. Jupiter Chevrolet (11611 I-635, garland, texas 75041, (972) 271-9900) was made aware of the failure and took the vehicle in for service. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the seat belt or the driver's and passenger's side trimming failure. Developed cracks in dash starting in 2018 and progressively got worse. Rattles when you drive. Driver door pull has also broken in several places and has pinched my hand multiple times. Dealer is aware this is a common problem but will need to replace whole door panel and dash at my expense. Transmission went at 81,000. Chevy, you can do better. I was warned not to buy this, but I took my chances. It feels very lemony sour now.

The design of the back passenger doors is dangerous because the shape of the door is in a point and not rounded, it is not covered in plastic or rubber. My 3 year old daughter got out of the vehicle over the weekend and started to run towards the sidewalk and struck her forehead on the pointed end of the door causing a deep gash that bleed profusely. . . . She had to be taken to the er for suturing. Very poor design for a vehicle that is typically purchased by families with kids.

I purchased a new 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe within the first year the sunroof started leaking. I had it repaired the first time in August. Second time it was repaired was in November. Nine days later, it leaked again. I took it back for the third repair and got it back 6 weeks later. December 21 I got it back and it leaked again the worst ever in 48 hours. Plus they did damage to the inside of my car. Some of the damages was cause by trying to get the old headliner out and the new one put in. When it raining after the third tempt of repairing it now water start dripping water out of the speaker on to my drivers seat and down my steering wheel on to my hand. Everytime it rains the inside of my vehicle headliner gets wet. I am worried about mold and mildew. Moisture being inside the car. Plus the safety of my vehicle with it holding water in the headliner.

My sunroof is leaking by the driver side visor and above the driver side window when it rains and the sunroof makes a loud whistling noise when I go over 60 mph.

Very poor coating on frame. Coating peels and flakes off, even on a lightly used vehicle. After coating peels off the frame and components begins to rust.

The vehicle would make an abnormal rocking or poping sound when driving. The noise comes from the back andis due to the seperating of the back of the car from the bodies frame. No warning light iluminated. The vehicle was driven to the contacts home. The local mechanic took a look at the vehicle and they stated that the frame could now separate at any minute. The dealer was not contacted the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not informed of the issue. The failure mileage 90,000. Jw.

In regards of my 2009 chevy Tahoe ltz this vechicle has had some issues in the few months of ownership. When ever the car is parked an you exit the SUV to lock it it does not lock you hear the clicking sound like its locked but when you try to open the door that should be locked it opens right up an the alarm goes off an to mention the door handles are chipping away an the plastic cuts almost every person that opens my doors that are not careful. An ive had to patch almost 5 places on my coolant an a/c lines that are aluminum very cheaply made.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The contact stated that the driver's side dashboard had a three to four inch crack. Additionally, there was a one inch crack on the passenger side dashboard. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (musson patout Buick GMC, 214 w. Hwy 90 frontage rd. , new iberia, la 70560) where it was diagnosed that parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 131,415.

I have a 2016 chevy Tahoe with 33,000 miles on it and the paint on the hood and roof and the sides of the SUV is cracking with lines / swirl running all over the outside of the SUV I brought it to a couple body shop and inform me the truck was not painted properly. Because you could see the steel body showing through the paint.

Thursday, April 12, 2018. Heading to work one morning on the interstate, the girl in front of me put on breaks (we were in the fast lane), so I put on my breaks. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw the driver behind me not paying attention and going 50-55 mph. I had enough time to brace myself before he hit me from behind which made me hit the person in front of me (I have video and pictures). Fortunately, my Tahoe held up pretty good and didn't crumble with the type of impact it had. My concern is my airbags did deploy but actually didn�t. The smoke came out from the airbags through the dash and my airbag sensor light came on my alerts on the dash. If I wouldn't have prepared and braced myself then my face would have gone in the steering wheel. I didn't see a recall but is there a reason they didn't come out? also, I was able to drive away from the scene to take the Tahoe to body shop but the seat belt was locked in it's place and could not rebuckle (I was buckled during the crash).

Two rusted brake lines from the master cylinder to master distribution block under the truck caused the brake pedal to go to the floor at 50 mph and ran thru a 4 way stop intersection in a rural area, thank you jesus I'm alive, lot's of rust on the lower rockers etc. On both sides.

I just bought my used 2011 chevy Tahoe. After I drove it home I noticed that the dashboard under the windshield keeps jumping bad due to 2 cracks. My concern is that it may cause the airbag to deploy. The dearship says I bought it as-is and I feel it is a safety issue that should have been repaired before sale.

Top of dashboard on driver's side of car cracked. It was not subjected to any unusal physical stress. Car was not moving. Was parked outside and temperature was above freezing.

I live in a fairly arid climate, where rain doesn't occur frequently. A couple of months ago, after my Tahoe had been sitting in the rain, I noticed water dripping from the inside door pillar when I opened the door. I just assumed it was water than came in from the outside when I opened the door. Then about nine days ago, while driving in the rain, water began dripping from the top center console area, in a steady stream. When I took it into the Chevrolet dealer they said that the seal on the hi-frequency antennae (shark fin antennae), over the driver's side was faulty, and that water was leaking in through it. Since there was not a recall for my VIN, and since rain was predicted to continue for several days, I had no choice but to pay $452. 32 to have a new antennae installed. The service department did what they could to dry the area out in between the roof and the ceiling and left the cover off the side driver's airbag so it would dry, telling me to return in a week so they could replace the cover on the airbag. In addition to being out a lot of money, I am concerned about the side airbag possibly malfunctioning after being wet over a period of time.

The dash on this vehicle has sever cracks in 2 different places. The vehicle has never been wrecked and has been very well maintained. This is a known problem with Chevrolet Tahoes. It is foreseeable that injuries would be significantly increased in the case of a front-end collision should the dash come completely apart and leave sharp edges exposed.

My dash in my 2011 chevy Tahoe has cracked from the passenger airbag to the cluster above steering wheel. Dash would make a popping sound when driving,thats when I noticed crack.

My 2007 Tahoe lt the is cracked in two places one at air bag that I feel if I was hit in that Tahoe that when that airbag comes out the peices of the dash would hurt or kill my wife or kids everyone I know their dash pads are the same way even the ones for sale on car lots are the same way I do know thatif not recall my gm if someone looses their life or kids life over the dash pads being a bad part by gm I just hope and pray that no one get hurt or kill if in a bad crash in these Tahoes.

Water pools somewhere between the roof and top of the hatch on both sides of the rear windshield wiper + drips down the back windshield for hours.

The exterior side panel that separate front and back of Tahoe threatens to fly off during driving. It's primarily on highway driving from 50+ miles per hour. It's as if wind is getting under them and its always a concern they are going to fly off. We often are stopping and hitting it back in place. If it come off it will be a $130-180 piece each side and cosmetically ugly for our vehicle and a danger to other motor vehicles as a flying object. Please recall this as we are hearing from dealerships it is a common part coming off of the Tahoes. It is a common occurrence. It didn't happen just once.

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard had premature extensive cracks that could affect the structural integrity of the air bag components. The cracks extended on both sides, but primarily near the front passenger side. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and refused to assist with the dealer's repair to replace the part. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

I was driving down the highway at about 70 mph and my wife looked in the passenger side mirror and saw the applique on the passenger side door behind the window (where the b pillar is) was loose and flapping in the wind. I had some tape in the vehicle so I pulled to the side, taped it down, and continued driving. I took the vehicle into the Chevrolet dealer the next day and they said it is a common problem with the Tahoe. The dealer said the design of the applique attachment was poorly done and when they replace them they now use a stronger attachment. The dealer found 2 other appliques loose and recommended replacing them as well before they flew off while driving and possibly causing a safety issue to someone behind my Tahoe.
